Scaff will be pleased to note that by both criteria (B-spec times, and hp/Tn) his GTO should have been the slowest.:D

👍 Still don't regret using the Galant. While it did suffer on some of the tracks, it was a blast around the 'ring, and it always felt lik eit suited the spirit of the event.

I'm currently considering a similar replacement for the next series.

On that subject, just wanted to ask you all (well those with TT) what bike are you all considering taking out?

The times are those achieved by B-Spec Bob (sorry, Pestilence) at Trial Mountain. The numbers in brackets refer to the positions those cars finished in the points in VTD 1. They are not necessarily related. And I never said that this list was in time order. It's not. The times are there because I got both sets of information at the same time from the same source. I have another list that is in time order, and we'll have a look at that later. Just ignore them.

Oh, right, never mind, just me not paying attention again. :dunce:

Honda CBR1000RR, I love it!

I'm going to leave you guys to set the regs for the bikes, but might I suggest you all use 750-1000cc sports bikes? If you've all got wildly differing machines we won't be able to make any serious comparisons.

I'm quite happy with that range as I was looking at a 600 or 750 Gixxer, so going for the 750 is no big problem.

I was thinking more in the range of 600-1100cc, but perhaps >749cc would be a better comparison.

where would an r6 come into it :D i wanna use that lol

I think that would be allowable. Scaff?

👍 No problem at all, I actually think the R6 is a great choice. My biggest problem was I had about half a dozen bikes I wanted to use.

Ok, another idea. I got a bit fed up with the gearbox on my Caterham last time, and what particularly irked was that it was totally unrealistic. I'd like to suggest that if people are having a problem with their gearbox ratios, they can apply to be allowed a different gearbox, something in keeping with the car.

I'm particularly thinking of the various American muscle cars that have just 2 or 3 gears: we could give them a set of ratios (to use as their track mod), which would mimic a suitable 4 or 5 speed setup. The Golf MkV would benefit as well.

Whaddya think?

Well,i'm not driving the TT,but Gixxer all the way 👍
I have seen that the GSX-R drivers are the crazyest(don't know about Ed though, but he's a bit nutty :D)

Are you guys creating a list for what cars are allowed,, obviously no racing cars right?:)

Read the first post of the last VTD, it lists the criteria for the cars that are allowed.

Yeah, same as before: no racers, no tuning cars (including the Buick Special), no concept cars, but also no kei cars (except the Mazda AZ-1 as a control car, but that's different), and 4 door cars must be a distinct sport model (such as M5/Type R) of greater power than the standard model. Other than that, the choice is yours. And no Volvos. And no people carriers. And no stupid pick-ups... Look, just bring some sexy sports cars and we'll be happy, ok? :dopey:

How about we have an "idiot class" for all of us (yes, I said "us", including me) who want to run something silly! :P

Yeay that would be funny,, like a Midget or so,, but it'snt really in the spirit of the comp..

No, I guess not, but it would be fun, kinda like the soccer mom, or granny trackday!

-edit-

Ed's gonna kill me,,,

I thought I already replied to that...meh oh well

No, you are right, we are not going to do that.

an idea but wouldnt it be better sorting cars by power rather than age,as it might be unfair on some in say the budget class if most people have cars around the 200bhp mark and then someone rocks up in an 89 r32 GTR and then as the increase the power move them up into the next area?

Still unfortunatly does not get round the weight issue, I think we may have to look at power to weight as a better indicator.

A modification and tuning thread that Kent set-up used PTW, as it was an interesting challenge to keep cars in the right division to remain competative.

Have a look, it may just be the kind of approach we could use.

Actually, that looks pretty good, I have been frying my brain to work out some way of fairly dividing the classes, but didn't even think of P/W!

I like the look of that, Scaff. Do you think Kent would mind if we lifted his classification wholesale? :D There are few problems for our purposes: older cars have worse tyres than the latest ones in GT4 (which was why I split them by age in the first place); the Caterham will be ranked with the likes of the Zonda, Ford GT and TVR Cerbera Speeed 12, none of which it can live with on a proper circuit; the Peugeot 205 T16 seems to have an unhealthy advantage against its peers; there's no classification for 4WD cars, although I suspect their performance would not be far removed from the FRs.

I would suggest a class system like this for each division. I think FF cars do need a separate class, as they will not be as quick as a FR, 4WD, MR or RR car with the same power and weight, although you're unlikely to get any FF cars except in the modern division. I doubt there is really any need to separate any drivetrain other than FF: I doubt that MR has an outrageous advantage over the others, but I may be wrong. Haven't finished my own work on this yet (it was interrupted by VTD 1). I think we may have to transfer certain cars between classes and divisions, so they do not have an unhealthy advantage or disadvantage.
