This isnt much but i thought it would be nice to have the age of members displayed in the side bar if they wish... simply because there is such a wide spread of ages on this site that it would be nice to know..

Click profile it will be on the left under date of birth and will show the members age in brackets if they wish it to be known.

Yes, I've considered it for quite some time now, but my concern for abuse and misleading information has kept me from implementing it here.

He's right.
Moreover, people's age are their privacy (including me). It's up to them to show it or not.

This.

Also people getting it wrong about ages. I know a few people act much older than they are, and its unfair for people to start talking down to them, basing how they act towards them by the age displayed rather than the posts they've done before.

annoys me alot. I agree 100% with your post 👍.

What's amazing to me is when (after knowing someone online for awhile and talking to them via PM) all a sudden I decide to look up their personal stats, and this person is like 13 or something! Then I'm like--oh man, I wonder if I've said anything that's gonna corrupt this kid! :dunce: I'm so used to "being myself". But I remember what I was like when I was 13.

If they had internet back then, I would have been one of those kids that shows up to a site, then gets banned within a few posts! I wasn't anywhere near as mature as some of the kids who post here regularly. Since we didn't have internet in the '70s and '80s, me and friends would get our kicks doing other devious stuff, crank calls and stuff like that.

If ages were displayed, I definately would act different, I would have preconceived notions about who I'm talking to and what level of maturity they're at and stuff. I rarely check stats up front like I should, so balang has a point. But Jordan is right, too.

Absolutely spot on, this is why it's neither useful nor needed.

On a more serious note, putting your age on a web site (especialy if you are very young) is the last thing you should ever ever do!!!!!!!

Besides, showing the age is one more tool for flamers to give you a hard time for being an asshat...

True, that's happened to me on a few occasions, but I won't call any names, because I just don't remember who they were:lol: Moving on, it would be good to have, but if problems develop from it the person should remember that they chose to show it in the first place.

I was like, 14-15 when I joined this forum. You'd be surprised anytime I'd mention my age at how many people thought I was twenty-something...
