Wait... I can understand why it may not be worth it, and cutting the price, but why free? Don't give me the "we are entitled to content" BS please. :)

Nah, I won't give you the "we are entitled to content" BS. It's basically because those cars are already in the game, even if not in a racing form. They really don't make a huge difference than doing an RM to one of the in-game cars that have the mod available.

I mean, the GTR R32 TC is so damn sexy and every time I see it I think of buying the DLC, or the uniqueness of the Prius TC is also temptating, but I don't feel that $7 will be worth the purchase if at the end I'm only using them in one or two races (or none at all). I don't know if I'm explaining myself. The other cars in Pack 1 and 2 are so worth it since they are new, although most of them are unused since there isn't any event where you can run them fairly.

But yeah, maybe I got to ahead of myself wishing that it was free. I think that $3.99 would be a fair price considering what I explained above.

I guess it may come down to how much a DLC is used after reading your words. That makes sense.

I'm not kidding! I bought the Aventador with its respective pack a while back and so far the car has only like 12 miles. There is no event other than the A-Spec Super Car event, an occassional Time Trial Seasonal or Arcade where I can race it. So basically what makes it worth is its uniqueness.

Others like the Scirocco R, the Mini and the Golf R have been a complete success since there are plenty of events for them, and they are authentic new content.

Of course but you asked why they someone thought they should be free, were given valid reasons and then just discounted those reasons with 'get over it'.

Those were not valid reasons as the reasons don't exist. However similar to my lack of paper, I can get paper whenever I desire. Those features however, no.

You need reasons?

Colour DLC:

Other racing games: alot of free colours with preview. All colours can be used when the player wants to use them and they are always free.

GT5: stupid colour system to sell colours that already should be in the game for free. Without unlimited colours and NO preview system before you purchase the colour.

Car Pack 1:

Other racing games: livery editor, better tuning -> RM Edition for free and you can create what you want.

GT5: bad tuning system and no livery editor. Sell RM editions for 7-8$ and had almost no work to do.

Do you know what the problem is? Some people would say they didn't integrate the Car Pack 1 as RM Editions to sell them later. They were smart enough to not add the DLC on the disk.

I don't think so, but they truth is we will never know when a developer creates the DLC. It doesn't matter if we find it on disk or not.

What i want to say is. The colour pack shouldn't exist, because they used their stupid colour system to milk the cow.

The Car Pack 1 should cost not so much. I think 0-4$ would be fine.

This is your subjective opinion or fact? Have some numbers to share?

AFAIK at this moment there is staggering amount of Open Lobby rooms every night (EU side here) with plethora of regulations and last Time Trials had more than 100.000 players on the 2nd day (I always do a slow initial lap to see approx number of players on the Leaderboards).

GTAcademy was downloaded and played by more than 1 million unique PNS ID accounts.

GT5 still resides on many national sales lists, especially those in European countries. For instance it is on #2 spot for PS3 Platinum sales in UK last week (GFK data gives separate listings for Full Price/Budget so we can't know how it compares on current PS3 list with full-price titles), #6 PS3 overall sales in Denmark for last week, #12 in Ireland and #20 on overall games sales in Germany. For a game that has launched over 83 weeks ago it is a damn fine sales and interest I see there.

I see no decline at all, at least judging from the numbers we can see officially.
I agree.

GT5 is probably the most played racing out there and is still is one of the top sellers even though it got released over one and a half years a go. I think regarding DLC sales, it is probably one of the top sellers, if not number 1 at the moment for Sony. I bought yesterday DLC for GT5, the Complete Pack and the Motegi pack, I was holding off for hoping a new edition, something like the XL version to come out in the UK but it has not come out. I would have held out for it but thought best that I get practice on the tracks for GT Academy finals tomorrow ;).

One idea is to use it on the Oval X and try to beat a stock X2010 or 2011 - it comes quite close, something like 6 seconds behind even with just cursory testing.

Just a suggestion though.

This is the best reasons so far 👍

Even though I'm not a fan of tunning and heavy customization, I have to mention NFS Underground 2 (I still think it was the best NFS after Porsche Unleashed)which gave this and more, while we were hoping that GT someday would implement such features. Maybe not at a rediculous and such tacky level, but at least more options for discrete aero parts, wheels, a fully customizable color palette, textures (even crappy-half-baked NFS had chrome/perlescent/metallic/iridescent/matte finishes available), a basic livery editor and more RM mods.

Even though I'm ok with GT5's "customization" features, I fealt kind of betrayed whith the Paint Pack and Car Pack 1.

You had to mention Porsche Unleashed I got lucky to even own that game when I was a young kid. Sorry I know that's off-topic but no game has come close to the enjoyment I've ever had racing *sniff sniff*.

Edit: I didn't think NFS Underground 2 was that high on people's list it was a great game though.
