My post was a general observation that people having an opinion that isn't directing praise at pd is not only frowned upon but discouraged.

It all doesn't have to be negative, either. I've been trying to say that people shouldn't be so pessimistic about everything GT5 related, but then people like you get the wrong idea and jump down my throat about it.

I doubt anyone was expecting that, they may have been hoping for something more than one track from GT4 and a rebadged car they already have though, no? Why are they not allowed to be disappointed, just because they asked for DLC?

As for being pessimistic I doubt people are all they are doing is pointing out problems we all can't say "oh pd are perfect" because its not true mentioning something that might be wrong helps improve a series.

I get what you're saying and those expecting 10 old GT4 tracks or 20 totally brand new cars were probably always going to be disappointed but I'm sure many others were just expecting a handful of new cars like previous packs. So I don't see how everyone was expecting too much. There is a middle ground between what some people were expecting and what PD has ultimately given us and that is why people are disappointed.

Yes, you are always going to get complaints no matter what DLC you put out because everyone wants different things but the more variety you DO put out, the more people you are likely to please. Except die hards and collectors a free Scion isn't likely to excite and neither is one average track from GT4, especially with a high price compared to the previous Spa track which is one of the best rated tracks in the world.
 
The next person to attack another member in place of actually discussing the point the make gets a two day holiday from GT Planet.

All opinions are permitted as long as they follow the AUP.
 
OK back on the topic at hand has it been identified as all dlc or was gt5 the example?

From what I have seen the argument can swing either way depending on the dlc.
 
to all you folk bitching about others complaining, its quite simple. PD is going backwards not forwards. broken promises and more. now poor dlc at higher price. its getting beyond a joke. more and more are getting bored of this game due to them going backwards. if you dont like the complaints then dont comment. we have and are entitled to our own opinions. me personally am shocked at this poor dlc coming

Honestly, I really don't get it. Why come on here and complain about it? I could fill a bathtub with things I don't like about the game, but I don't dump them all on here. I just deal with it, because that's all I can do. What is coming on here and half starting a riot going to accomplish? Nothing. It won't change anything, so why bother?
 
Because this is a forum to discuss the game. If people only posted about positive things here it would be rather boring.

I'm not saying it's all got to be good things, but just not all bad things. 80% of the posts I see in the GT5 forum are all about how the game could be better, and half of those posts probably have DLC in it somewhere. People act like DLC makes or breaks a game nowadays.

Your right dlc doesn't make or break a game but finishing it makes or breaks.

My question here is, how exactly do you "finish" a racing game? Will it be finished when you have included every car ever made? No, new cars will continue to be introduced. Will it be done when you have every track ever raced on? Of course not, new tracks are built all the time. This isn't like a WWII combat sim where there was a definite start, middle and end to the war. Racing is constantly growing and evolving, how can you "finish" the game?

On another note, has anyone considered that the DLC is a bit light this time around due to PD being a bit busy with GT academy? What other sims out there are giving us that kind of opportunity?

Look at Forza 4, DLC every month, REAL money to buy VIRTUAL cars. Considering that, yes GT5 is extremely light on DLC. Now think how the next GT will be?

I'm glad GT is light on DLC. It's at little more than $35 extra.

Forza will be really expensive in the end. Then all that money you spent, is only exclusively timed. There will be a "Ultimate" Package where your $200+ investment in DLC turns into a $30 game.

GT isn't on the expensive side, and i'm happy for that. Because you're going to buy the same Forza game again every two years. Then buy that $200 worth of DLC again. It's not entirely smart in the end. But then again, in that case, you did pay $20 for a bunch of FM3 Porsche Ports.

That's how all games are nowadays. Developers build games that were built for a specific consumer group and now are making them for casuals. For DLC making or breaking a game? I looked at the news topic, people always posting, "Can't wait for the next DLC!" "Why isn't there more?""My DLC wish list..." What is that? Can't people wait for the next game?

But this game is still broken 2 years after release, it was not even completed and therefore DLC is highly regarded as the "medical potion" The lackof is breaking this game.

Me? I own the game for Xbox, the game is unplayable due to the fact that 90 % of the game is DLC. GT5 on the other hand, yes I too am happy that GT5 hasn't gone down the road of Forza 4.

Speaking of broken games. Why do games need a huge amount of patches to try to make it work? Games back in the day worked, of course there were bugs, but not on the scale of what they are today and they can't even fix them.

Games now are an enormous step-up from games 'back in the day'. Making a video game as big as GT5 is much harder than some people think.

I also own the game for the Xbox and saying it is almost unplayable and 90% of it is DLC is ridiculous, I have not paid for a single DLC in the game and and the game has plenty of cars to keep me interested. I do agree the T10 release to many DLC's but for every monthly pack you get a free DLC car and also consider that the Viper '13, Velostar and 2012 M5 were all free as well. If GT went by the same method I think alot less people would complain about the DLC that is released.

I do think what PD did with TRM was disgraceful as it was a track ported from GT4 with updated textures but I also think T10 were no better with the Porsche Pack. I seriously hate when companies recycle content and make people pay for it just for profit I do not agree with that method at all...

In my final opinion DLC every once in a while is fine and free DLC is wonderful but when companies price DLC to high or recycle content just for profit I think that is going too far

I was looking on both Xbox 360 and ps3s marketplace tonight and I have found that some dlc is just silly I mean 3 bucks for an outfit? Then there are others where I wouldn't mind purchasing like fable 2 and 3 dlc that gives you a new story.

I would say some companies do dlc well others are really milking it for the cash the latter is really sad.
 
I remember somebody mentioning on here that PD releases DLC to keep Sony's pants on about not bringing in any revenue. If that could keep Sony happy and keep them from jumping down PD's throat about releasing their next title, presumably GT6, and thus giving PD more time to work on it, I'm all for it.

I think GT Prologue and GT5 made enough Money for GT6 Development. Maybe GT7 too.

I think that doesn't matter. They use DLC to earn Money and they want that GT5 owners Play GT longer.
Sony could but pressure at PD, because the Console Cycle is ending. They maybe want GT6 on PS3 or as a release Game for ps4.

No. I think GT has enough value to add DLC as a Bonus for themselve and the customer.

DLC aren't a 100% Good or 100% Bad Thing. It depends on your opinion and how the companies use the DLC.

I buy Some DLC if i think the Content is good.

For example:

The SPA and Car Pack 1 DLC add Great value and i bought them.
The paint DLC is bad, because i dont want to Pay for colours. Colours should be available for Free in the Game.

I don't think DLC is ruining the quality of games. You can't have quality DLC without having a quality game.

If the game is crap, no one will buy the DLC.

So if game developpers want gamers to buy extra content, they have to make sure that the initial content is top notch.

I know I wouldn't buy DLC for a crappy game. Fallout 3 comes to mind.

But I bought all of the DLC for GT5 and Batman Arkham City.
