Quick question and i'm not sure if it's already been asked but, if the karts are already in GT5, why are we paying for them again in DLC?

Does this mean all the other DLC is already in GT5 too and the DLC is just unlock codes for them?

I personally think PD put those in to make us excited for the DLC.
I think yoman is right.

Someone else made a good point that the karts could only be there until the DLC is released.

Just wanted to post that I'm absolutely thrilled for the new Karts and the track. Absolutely loving the Kart races and the 125cc one is amazing!

I'm really really excited for the new karts and track, but I'm really hoping the karts lights are off in the Kart Space, as this would ruin the cool neon effect

What's the difference between the 100, 125 and the old version?

After a bit of testing I have found.

125 is the fastest with a more powerful engine but also its hard to handle.
new 100 easier to control than old 100 but understeers a bit.

I think it's more likely it's one of the many things PD overlooked when releasing the patch and it's an accident that we have access to them for the exact reason it reduces peoples reasons to buy them if they have gotten to use them already (even in limited access) and also that it brings up the obvious question why are we paying for somethign we already have.

It has been added as part of the Spec 2 update. We don't 'already have it', they have simply added the DLC files in the update, so if you see someone online and they are driving a DLC car, you can see their car.

I am sorry what I meant was there is a psychological barrier to the whole "why do I need to pay for it when it's already physically on my disk"?

So at this point, we do already have it. It didn't come on the original disk but it's still nothing but an unlock code which is often viewed less as an unlock code and more as a "pay me to stop locking you out" code.

After a brief testing of all 3 new Karts, here's what I found to be the hits and misses of each:

RACING KART Jr.
Hits: Smallest, best handling, great acceleration, zips through other Karts with ease.
Misses: Abysmal top speed, very bumpy ride; one bump will send you flying!

RACING KART 100
Hits: Great all-around kart, good speed and handling.
Misses: Hard to control on uneven roads, laggy steering.

RACING KART 125
Hits: King of the karts, great speed and handling, sweet engine note, F1-like steering wheel
Misses: Lackluster acceleration, spins out easily if throttle is incorrectly applied.

My only hope is that we can use all 3 Karts against each other online, like an expert karter in the Jr. vs a novice in a 125.

These karts are all hype, they're so boring to drive even with a wheel, if they actually made them shifter karts.
Then it would be another story.

Too bad the power was downgraded. Maybe we will have to break them in?

The 125 with a tunable transmission like the 100 will definitely revive my interest in karts. I ran them both on Tsukuba and the bump on the Dunlop curve is pretty much taken care of. I ran at Eiger Short Track and the last switchback is much, much easier now. I ran at Monaco and the karts were fantastic. The 125 was about 3 seconds faster, but with the transmission tuning I'd suspect 5-6 seconds faster. I was in the low 38's in just a few laps at Autumn Ring Mini in the 100. The downhill cambered left hand second corner. Remember how slippery it was? Gone...its got great grip now.

The new physics now make the karts handle like real karts. I raced 100cc direct drive karts for years and they had way more grip than the original PD karts and the new physics take them closer to reality. I even did some power slides with them a couple of times. Great job on this PD!!

A 50 hp, 125 shifter, that hits 130 mph will definitely round things out!!!

I'm going to test these out later. I hope when you buy them that you can change the numbers though.

warning - weird sounds coming from person, a possible satanic prayer of some sort.

How??1! Has anyone posted this yet? It's just the picture of it.

The jr seens pointless in the game its too slow! and the 125 is almost 3+ sec's quicker around Autum mini than the original 100,the 125 spins easy though its like a mini FGT :D i wonder though if the 100's & the 125's will be able to drive together i hope not doesnt seen likely. and that vid made me hope somone was actually gonna drive the track.
