I have come to the conclusion that it's a very intricate algorithm PD uses to change the AI's pp, rubberbanding, tires, and overall aggressiveness to suit the user's driving style and competence. I've seen them one-up my fastest time to the point of ridiculousness after having run much slower when I was sandbagging.
I find that if you overtake the field in half the total race time the AI won’t really up its pace to make the race difficult. However, if you have a car that get up to the top 2 leaders with one or 2 laps to go, the AI will up its pace to make it competitive.

I guess that makes sense though. If you are in a car that can catch the leaders within 5 laps of a 10 lap race, no amount of logical pace increase by the AI will be able to catch you. But if you take a competitive car that takes 8 laps to catch up to the leaders, they can increase their pace by a few seconds a lap and give you a run for those last 2 laps.

ngl this one took a while to beat. Stock Evolution VI GSR T.M. SCP '99 with only one change, RS Tires.

Loving this track in reverse. Coming down through those chicanes instead of up feels so good when you nail it.

* If you don't have it already the Evolution VI GSR T.M. SCP '99 is currently in the Uses Car lot.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think I found the ultimate Race Event and Car combo for a CRB challenge.

This week's Monza WTC 800 in a Corvette C7 Gr.3.

Not only do you have to contend with fuel and tires (which in this car is more than difficult), but the AI is also crazy hard to navigate. Every race is different and every race at least one car screws up. You just don't know what's going to happen.

3 days ago I took a brand new Corvette C7 Gr.3 with zero kms on it out on the track. 1773km later and countless restarts I finally did it. Just getting a win (without cutting the track) was hard enough. But getting that CRB was a bitch.

Putting a vote in for the Mustang 429 to beat WTC600. In my opinion this is one of the best cars in the game.

Stick a front lip and diffuser on it and it is unstoppable. Drives smooth as anything whilst being an absolute missile.

Doesn't need any real fuel management, I short shifted a tiny bit in the middle sectors and did a one stop refill exactly half way through the race, including tyre change.

2:03 as my best lap so huge margin for anyone to be able to win with it.
Done without wallriding, full CRB.
I was finally able to acquire this car, and I'm looking forward to putting your tune on it and seeing what I can do!

Interested in that tune ! Except it was wall-riding ...

@Nebuc72 ( and FYI @UltimateLurker )

Thanks for the Mustang Boss hint and setup you posted some time ago. A great car indeed. I don't grind anymore but I did a test run at Tokyo of course and got quite similar times ( RT / FL ).

Wanted to enjoy some VR driving today, so

Evo felt like it might've been bottoming out, I adjusted the tune after the race.

The 812 Superfast is one of the most fun Ferraris in the game, the noise, the handling, it all feels so good, always a joy to take it for a spin.

No wall-riding. It is built using SM tyres, the SS tyres don't last the second stint. You can go flat out in auto or manual with no tyre or fuel management. Pit end of lap 6 to fill the tank and fit a new set of SM's.

Lapping the traffic cleanly from lap 9 can slow you down sometimes. On this particular run I was pretty lucky with the idiots and
even got a nice tow on lap 10 to get that fastest lap time.

It is wide body. Wheels are 18'' with wide offset and standard width. Front aero B. Rear A. Wing A. With a fresh oil change the power will be 683hp.

Another example though how weird the PP calculation works at times and what specific car parts add or not add to it.
Great find ! Thank you very much ...

OK, finally got a minute to try this, and yeah, wow, this car is very tame, and super fast (I got 200 on the big straight). However, your tune shows a high-rpm supercharger, of which isn't available to me, so I chose the low-rpm version. And you're showing more hp than me as well.

Still, for my FIRST race of Tokyo since this was out a few weeks ago, I think I did ok!

A fun week:

-Suzuki swift sport 2007 for FF japanese in Autopolis: light tunning, fun car, quick race, 1st place and CRB obtained.
-Porsche cayman GT4 for Porschr cup in Laguna Seca: One of my favorite events in the game, took P1 at the end of lap 4, CRB obtained.
-Evo X final edition for Evo meeting in Kyoto: Fun Race but the behemont layout of Kyoto is harsh 😅 won but no CRB this time
-Ferrari 812 for special event in Trial Mountain: It ended up being a fantastic and fun race, last 2 laps at night were a bit scary but I won and managed against all the odds to get the CRB.
-Audi RS5 DTM for WTS 800 at Monza: Easy win. No pit, but thanks to the chicane I couldn't get the CRB 🥲
