Mark my words before the year is out there will be "atleast" 1 DLC . and if you love driving and are a thrue GT fan its worth the wait.

If all we'll get will be micro-transaction-style, individual cars and tracks, then no, they won't be worth the wait in my opinion. Large and indivisible expansion pack-like DLC would be.

Are you even aware of what you quoted to ask that question?

Yes. Your sources seemed no more "robust" than his. Especially when you're saying things like "I estimate".

If you are using proper sources, you didn't make that clear. That's why I asked.

How awesome would the Isle of Man TT track be.... and Bathurst... never gonna happen, but a boy can dream.

They and and quite a few other tacks would be awesome for GT5, and GT in general. Shame then that we will have to wait at least a few more years before any glimpses of new tracks come out

Can they not just get a load of classic tracks, add some high(ish)-res textures, let us download them, then use the new tracks in seasonal events.

I wish... :indiff:

I don't know why they can't do this, Monaco (sorry easier to spell:)) looks like a track straight from GT4. Surely we need some more rally tracks, lets hope that they will give us more of them. We need more tracks in general.

I did in fact quote my references. Participation in online events, participation in open lobbies, participation in series people set up, going platinum, combined with significant price drop, price drop of PS3, massively decreased sales the past six months. (In first three months sold 13 times the amount in the past 6) with last week's sales at 13 some thousand. Complaints by more casual players, which keeps in mind many do not come on the internet to complain, most that do get run off in a couple posts. Oh, and 20% have no internet, so they're stuck on v1.0. :scared:

Funnily enough I could say the same about most of what i said. Particippation comes down to location, and the amount of GT5 players per x amount of people. Its a flawed arguement from the start. Participation in set up series again comes down to location and time zone, and in fact time constraints as well (someone cant race two series' at the same time). Also not everyone who plays GT5 uses GTPlanet, or any other forum (I ony started using it this year, after full time GT playing from 2005). Platinum we have been over. Price drop come with the platinum tag, but in Australia at least the price has gone down about $30-$40, depending on where you look. I think I would also be shocked and disgusted if the price hadnt dropped at all after 9 or so months on sale. Everything drops in price after a certain period of time, thats just how retail and the real world works. Same can be said for the PS3 price drop (would you still pay $1000 for one today? Didnt think so...). Sales we've been over, but I will add that if a product didnt drop in sales a set period of time after release, I would again be shocked. Again, its the normal way of retail. Complaints? Everyone complains about everything these days (not saying that GT5 didnt have faults here) because it doesnt tailor to their everyneed, which nothing can. And that 20% you keep refereing to, I doubt all of those people who do play GT5 bought a V1.0 copy (they do add some updates to the disc, if not all).

Thankfully I've not considered all those things you list as so, it's not like we've already discussed each and every one. :p
Guess that means it's time to wrap it up.

Its an evil world filled with infinite possibilities to forever change an outcome that very few people know the truth to. Meh, each to his/her own.

That's the best quote I've seen today. 👍 (not sarcasm)

Is it really? Considering the games that are coming out and the games that are already out... I've had motorstorm apocolypse on my mind for the longest time, and dirt 3. Then NHL12 is coming out in september along with F1 2011, thats about a good $210 easy after taxes, but that somewhat $210+ can go to all the DLC that PD is comfortable with releasing... Please help ?!

You have 1000 cars and 70 tracks, you want more?

Yes, because there aren't 1000 different cars and 70 different tracks and you should know this.

There are 27 unique tracks in GT5, which with chicaneless, reverse, subsection, or weather/time change enabled variations become 71 (52 without counting reverse variations) according to PD. But there aren't 71 entirely different tracks as you're implying. GT4 had 38 unique tracks, 51 unique variations in total and 81 counting reverse ones too.

Same for cars. Other posters have debated much about how there are 1000 cars in GT5 in other threads. I haven't done accurate counting for Standard cars, but regarding Premium ones, grouping together those sharing most of the bodywork and racing modified versions (as in GT1 and GT2), there are around 160 unique bodies/models of them.

And once again we are reminded of GT3. Except for the whole "four years into the console's life" thing. Makes you wonder if GT6 will be to GT5 as GT4 was to GT3. Then again, is GT5 to GT3 what GT3 was to GT1? That's an interesting question, definitely. Probably been discussed to death a million times already, mind you.

DLC is definitely something that could turn the "favour" of that particular argument, if done correctly. I'd say it's in PD's best interest (not for winning favour with the "masses", simply to make GT5 stand on its own that much better) to do something sensible with extra content for GT5.

I will appreciate and enjoy DLC content for GT5, however, I will not be upset if DLC never comes out, for I will be playing Diablo 3 on the PC for the next two solid years at least, perhaps even until PS4 and GT6 come out. In the mean time, I will be selling my PS3 Fat (with induced AirCooling addon), G25, and GT5 for about $275 if anyone will be interested.

GT5 was and is the best PS3 and racing game I've had the pleasure to almost platinum myself in. But Without DLC and Diablo 3 on its way, I will have no more use for the PS3. It too loud and hot anyway for media playback. I have a media player that does everything I need.

I also thank GTPlanet for its existence, and hope to see all of you in the future for the next great PD game, whenever that will be.

The worst part is that it should be a win win, can't-lose scenario unless they plan a radical departure for GT6. They get paid for DLC for GT5 and can still re-use it in GT6 if they do decent 1080p models. In essence many of are willing to subsidize the feature list of a future game and pay for the privilege of using it now.

The more I look at Forza's car list the more I want GT to have DLC right now

If gt doesn't want to be beat in a dead heap than gt had better release some DLC if not now, than asap... I have heard NUMEROUS stories of people giving up on gt5 within the first year of its release BECAUSE of forza 4. The best comparison I have heard was its as if fm and gt were made as indivual people, and were having a heated arguement and everybody was watching. Then FM made a remark gt couldnt respond to, then gt releasing DLC after te release of fm4, would be equivalant to PD saying a remark after the arguement is over with and nobody no longer being in the mood. But I dont blame PD, it took 3 gt's to be considered one of the best in the series so im judging gt5 as thefoundation of future gt's. So im going to hold my praising about gt being the best in the buisness until AFTER the 8th release of the series or so...
Fair?

Don't worry GT isn't going anywhere. There's people I know that gave up on FM3 for GT5 and still enjoy it and the other way around. Whether FM4 beats GT5 in terms of sales. I wouldn't consider it a failure. . I'm sure GT6 will sell well also. It still made good profit. Sony only wanted to release it just to increase ps3 sales last year. But I agree with you regarding the DLC. Hopefully, if the next update goes well without people discovering errors in the patch we'll probably see a dlc soon. I only want to see regular stock cars in dlc. I wonder how would the engine sounds be?

I don't wait any dlc. Because there is forza 4 coming. :) bye bye gt5. You can keep your one thousand mazda and nissan. I really take one ford 1800 rs and two trans am pontiac sooner.
