Do you cut corners and/or chicanes at Sarthe?

Only in A spec or seasonals, the quicker I end the pain the better. Online though I race correctly even if others cut I do not cut, just leave.

1: A-Spec - Yes, especially in the 4WD Race Seasonal.
2: Free Run - No
3: Races - No, not even if others are doing the same.

That being said, I refuse to run on Sarthe (new) with penalties - I drop one freaking wheel over the kerbs and bam, penalty.

I would to avoid a potential accident, but other than that... No. Keep it clean if possible at all times. 👍

I cut all the time in A spec and seasonals and use the fastest car I can just because I want to get it over with as quick as possible and get the money. Online I cut corners if it's a dirty room, clean rooms usually have penaltys so it would be pointless to cut corners anyway.

I only do it in a pinch, such as trying to escape the R8, or there's a group taking up the whole track

No when I'm driving online or during Free Run practice mode
Yes when I'm losing behind the AI at endurance races

But usually I don't, it's just not right and I fear crashing into the walls

Only during dirty shuffle racing, where it's basically mandatory.

Nope, I don't cut on or offline.

I'll be honest. I cut corners like a mad-man when grinding.

Online? I only cut corners when I go in the corner too hot.

No comment... I cannot read text beside my GTP nick...

Cutting is for the weak. Race clean. Unless it's a dirty shuffle room. Which you should NEVER join, because it's for the weak.

Hell no, one of my fav tracks to actually drive on properly.

This! I love Sarthe but so annoyed at all the places where you touch half a wheel and the timer turns red. Don't want people to drive on the kerbs? Well don't pave them with big red and white tire-width stones that are so gratifying to drive on (gives drivers something to aim at and feedback when you hit them). I also feel as Sir Stirling does, I think chicanes are often excessive and annoying - in a historic track like La Sarthe they were only put there to slow you down, and often aren't designed to flow very well or have a natural line for the car you're driving. If you drive through them without a 4-wheel off, they've done their job.

That said, I'm a big believer in not cheating and not seeing how far you can push the "oh but I still had one tire inside the white line" mentality. Touch grass rarely and only by accident, and try to touch kerbs and such only with one tire width (not half the car). So no, never deliberately cut the chicanes for any reason.

I only cut if it's free roam online and I'm trying to reach a friend or something. Even then, I don't do it all the time. Usually I like to cruise around them, if I'm in a free roam cruise room. In any other circumstance, I don't cut. It annoys me when people cut on Deep Forest Raceway though... that happened today in a clean shuffle room.

If I'm in a dirty race, yes. If I'm in a drag room, yes. If I'm in a clean race, no.

In a room today a guy kept on cutting, the room was a clean race room, the host eventually got sick of him and "employed" me to get my tank car and park it at the first chicane. The second was covered too. It's a simple solution when you have a big heavy car :)

Nope ...never and mostly because this is how the rot starts. First you do it "because I need to" in a game ...then you do it in traffic in real life "because I needed to". You see it more and more these days ...drivers on the shoulder line passing patient drivers who are willing to be a little late at the cost of cheating. Principles are principles. Stand for something or fall for anything.

Never there's no need to do so. If Hopi know the right lines you can make great time.

Upsets me when I see cheating.

Lord Sebastian Coe also expressed his contempt for the behaviour, and described the conduct of the Gran Turismo Racers at Le Mans as 'depressive' and 'unacceptable' as spectators in the crowd were treated to a farce.

Only at work ...... Not on GT5

It's not. I like racing dirty with friends sometimes, at the same time I do very serious races.:sly:

I only cut corners in 2 situations:

1. If I'm in a-spec and something happens where I fall way behind the leader (ex: crash or accidental pit stop)

2. If I'm in an online race without penalties and I see everyone cutting the chicanes.

Other then that, I stay on track like most people.

This^

The main reason why I *don't* cut corners is to get better at driving the courses properly. This practice helps me to drive cleanly and competitively against others online.

I used to corner cut in A-Spec when I first got the game, but haven't intentionally cut a corner now for the last six months at least.

Exactly the same for me, except offline I'm more inclined to do it more often than not, because there's no real people impacted by such actions.

only when I'm in a cops room and when police are chasing me. :trouble:

agreed. Cutting is for the weak. Kinda off-topic, I remember hosting a clean track day room using the Nurburgring 24h. I turned on the penalty so as to discourage cheating. One guy who joined was not aware of the penalty system, so when the race was on, he was in front of me then I saw him cutting the chicane towards the Nordschleife. Of course he automatically slowed down because of the penalty. After the race, I told him "damn XXXXX, that must've been a delicious 5-second penalty.":lol:

The only time I cut was back during the Ferrari seasonal, that was also the only time I raced a road car on RS tires.

I spun 2-3 times in each of those races and still won. IDKY anyone cuts. You shouldn't be playing any racing game if you do
