Naturally Gran Turismo, but then again, I don't really listen to any of the music from GT outside of playing the game.

Mine would be: Destruction Derby 2 (helped me along the path towards metal), Command & Conquer series (more metal/hard rock though with electronica mixed in, I wasn't influenced by the electronica but I did come to prefer electronica in games) and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City introduced me to Iron Maiden....

-Einhander OST. not really songs yes but i still love the bgm, and i have the entire album.
-Mario; Super Bros., World 3
-Jackie Chan Stuntmaster (PSX)
-Megaman x4, x5, x6
-Gunbound
-Killer Instinct: Killer Cuts Album.
-God of War 1 & 2
-GT4 - Moon over the Castle (Full Orchestra)
-Tekken 5 album
-Rock Band 2
-Guitar Hero 3
-DDR

Latest: Mirror's Edge; Alcorus - Shine. <-This song = win

The only band that I've actually got into due to a video game was the Shiny Toy Guns. This was thanks to their awesome song "You Are The One" on Fifa 07. I even adjusted the music playlist in the options so that would be the only song that played.

Going further back, I remember "Get Low" by Lil' Jon on Need For Speed Underground, I loved that tune at the time. That was a long time ago.....

burnout 3 (i think) fo the Asian Dub Foundation
i lve them now :D

Burnout 3 got me into Motion City Soundtrack and they're now one of my favourite bands! I love the soundtrack to that game, it sort of got me into Chronic Future too but I no longer like them.

Aldo, Asian Dub Foundation weren't in Burnout 3. They had a track in one of the NFS games though. 'Dark Fortress Europe'. 👍

Wipeout series was the first time I'd heard CoLD SToRAGE, Fluke, F.S.O.L., The Prodigy, Sasha, and every other artist in those games.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 was the first time I heard Suicidal Tendencies - albeit it was a good song off one of their more recent/awful records.
Burnout Revenge was my intro to Mindless Self Indulgence, through a remix of "Straight To Video".
And through Gran Turismo 4 (and MVP Baseball 2005) I discovered the Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers (who are now sadly on a hiatus).

(v insert jabbing at my musical tastes here)

Without NFS Most Wanted I never would have found Bullet For My Valentine. I'm very thankful for that game.

I found a band thanks to a game series, sort of. The Black Mages. They play music from the Final Fantasy games. The composer of the FF music formed the group and they play selections as a real studio band. All done in a prog rock sort of style. Pretty cool stuff.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 all the way. Bad Religion's "You" That was rad. All the action sports games back in the day had a great soundtrack.

Quake I brought me to the interesting sound of Trent Reznor and the Nine Inch Nails. I knew them before but never really cared too much about them until Quake

Gran Turismo has introduced me to Papa Roach, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the stone age etc. but the game that really showed me some new music was the Guitar Hero Series. My music library has greatly expanded due to downloading albums and albums of each band. :)

Singstar. No, really, I was looking through the songlist and I thought "Motörhead? Sounds good." I listened to Ace of Spades and BAM! I turned into rock/metal fan.

And then, Guitar Hero and Rock Band came out. The rest is history. History of metal.

same here, guitar hero opened a new series of artist,
also i learned a few stuff while playing guitar freaks and drummania the newer versions, u guys should listen to some japanese music, they have instrumentals that are very good =)

One game I haven't seen mentioned is Juiced and that had an incredible soundtrack. I have the following to thank for awesome songs on their games:

Gran Turismo 2 = Cardigans - My Favourite Game
Gran Turismo 4 = Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot
Gran Turismo 4 = QOTSA - Go With The Flow
Gran Turismo 4 = Fischerspooner - Emerge
Juiced 1 = Hybrid - Finished Symphony (that became my ringtone for AGES! :D)
FIFA 06 = K'naan - Soobax
FIFA 09 = MGMT - Kids
FIFA 09 = Veronicas - Untouched
GTA3 = Take On Me - Ah-Ha
NFSU 2 = Asian Dub Foundation - Fortress Europe
THUG 2 = Jimmy Eat World - Pain

There's plenty more, it's just I can think of these off the top of my head.

GTA III-IV, including the little tidbits in the middle.
NFS III: techno music.
NFSU II: random stuff.
Touhou games 6-11: Jesus, these have so much win music in it my head explodes.

GTA San Andreas. Plus, I noticed a year back, that quite some amount of songs from some GTA games are on Guitar Hero games. These songs were on GTA games before they were on the particular Guitar Hero's.
Here's my list. (HINT): GTA songs / Guitar hero games

I definitely have video games to thank. Feeder is a band I really like but I'd never heard of them before GT3. Also I discovered Rise Against through Guitar Hero III, though I'm kind of going off them a bit now.
