Do you leave your GT5 disc in your ps3?

My GT5 disk has been removed on three occasions, only to repair the YLOD that GT5 was completely responsible for. I hold no hard feelings against GT5 though, and each time as soon as the green light comes on, GT5 is quickly allowed to return home.

Yes, the only time it's been out is when moving the ps3, as it does cause scratches on the disk if you leave it in while moving it, other than that it's fine.

I certainly don't. After my PS3 died with the GT5 disk stuck inside, I had to use a special method to get it out.

What special method? Unless you lost power completely, all you have to do is turn it on and push eject, maybe a couple times if your timing is unlucky(speaking of YLOD here, maybe yours was a different death).

That's the method I was talking about.
But it took me around 20 times to get it right.

You sure about that? We had builders renovating our house for a couple of weeks & I didn't want to leave mine lying around. So it spent the daytime periods inside the PS3 being chauffeured around in the boot (trunk) of my car. Not a single mark on it.

The PS3 shuts down and the disc stays in. When I start it back up the wheel calibrates and the disc ejects. Then I push it back in and play. What am I doing wrong ?

With GT4 on the PS2 I kept the disc in for at least a year until it wouldn't play. Had to eject the disc and clean it because it built up a fine layer of grunge but all was good after that.

I had a PS2 for 3 years that never had any other disc in it but GT3 and GT4. And my PS3 has only been used for GT5.

But I do have other gaming systems and a PC for other games.

Some people said that it's bad to leave it in there because it'll wear off.

These people haven't heard of Blu-Ray laser readers have they. Or infrared readers. They must be using the same method for playing their discs as these things use for playing music because that is the only way it will wear down:

Although those things are very stylish. Imagine if you could get a gramophone games console.

Wowza. So not one other PS2 or PS3 game interested you? PS2 is one of the greatest consoles of all time with so many brilliant games, I find it amazing that you shunned them all for two games.

Don't forget that in them days, the PC Gaming Fraternity was huge. I bought a PS2 exclusively to play GT4, never played another game on it. In the same time frame I played tens if not hundreds of other games on the PC. In fact it's only been since a change in my personal circumstances that I've ported the rest of my gaming to the Playstation.

I expect Charlie was the same...

We have gaming systems dating back to the Magnavox Odessey and Mattel Intellivision. My daughter built a PC system worth a few grand for nothing but WOW. And my son plays nothing but RPG's and first person shooter games. So I guess we all have our OCD issues ! The only game we'll play together is Super Mario Kart.

The only reason I could think of it being bad for the disk is if you kept your PS3 in the microwave ... but you'd have bigger problems than a disk.

I'd actually advise keeping it in the console, to avoid unnecessary chance of dust entering the drive (unless you live in a sealed laboratory).

Yeah I know man, but old Warhorses like me prefer a mouse and keyboard for shooters. I've struggled really badly to port my shooter gaming to a console. I don't have the thumb dexterity of a 14 year old Japanese kid unfortunately..!! I rarely go online with FPS on the PS, I get my arse handed to me constantly, where on a PC I fared well.

I've almost always resorted to the console for drivers though. Those I played on the PC I did so with a controller, so for a long while it was GT on the PS and FPS/RPG on the PC...

GT5 is the only game I have on my only console. So it's been in the PS3 since I bought the game a week before Xmas. I might've ejected it once in the last 8 months to watch a Blue Ray movie- Battle Los Angeles.

to be honest, I think that's the safest place for it. I scratch more discs just in transport, removal from their cases.......ahhh, you get my point.

Me too, You get way more control when playing with a mouse than with a controller. i wonder if theres some way to use a mouse with a PS3 for FPS games.

I leave disc in the ps3 all the time, i even dropped the PS3 with the disc in, but the disc is fine.
