My primary attraction to any game is always the "Career Mode", in this case A-Spec. But I do miss the seasonals and racing online some. Once done with the "Specs" online will be my primary mode.

I really miss that new K-car grind event that had just popped up.

It sure beat the hell out of doing Indy over and over.

same , i only liked online as i have the best AI in my cousins that you could get.(race fair and clean + comunicate moves down inside/outside bcause of inside view limitations)

What i ve been doing is finishing Aspec at the same time as my cousin who starts the same race at the same time in aspec aswell.

We talk to eachother over skype and the objective is to finish in shortest overall race time with the fastest lap. We use the same cars (stock) for each race and it has a real competitive feel to it that keeps up the intencity.

i usually play only online, in a-spec i miss only some endurance and few special events.

i tried to do something offline, like special events or licenses where i miss gold .

I did that for only two days, then put gt5 in its box waiting for psn back :D

missing it so much. but it has given me the chance to upgarde more cars. trying euro cars e.g. jaguar e-type that might otherwise not get used.
also boght a couple of premiums, bmw z4 coupe, alfa brera etc

cannot wait for psn to be back online

I miss it too. All I do nowadays is hotlap the nurburgring, but I'd much rather race it online.

I miss the Friday night races with my friends, and I miss the seasonal races. But, I had already given up racing with randoms in the Open Lobby.

I have a question to ask which I might aswell ask on here.

Its been a while since I played GT5 for the simple reason I became bored of grinding and collecting cars which is something I was happy to do in the late 1990s/early 2000s but since then the likes of Forza has shown how much more there is to racing games. So my question is have PD timewarped into modern times and provided time trial leaderboards like GT5P? Or is there still those pityful few leaderboards in seasonal events?

Only way I will return to GT5 is if they modernise the game. The fact is GT5 should of been released with an abundance of online features i.e leaderboards, online tournaments etc. Even the likes of PGR3 back in 2005 had the above. Im sure some are happy to just grind and collect but in my opinion these people are stuck in a timewarp like PD and haven't experienced the online features I mention in other racing games. Even the likes of Burnout Revenge on the PS2 had more leaderboards than GT5!

As you can tell im still very bitter towards PD. I loved GT5P and went out and purchased a G25, Wheelstand Pro, top notch HDTV in preparation for GT5. I never thought for one minute GT5 would be inferior to GT5P. Some will say it isn't but when it comes to online features it is i.e leaderboards. I even preferred the matchmaking system rather than spending ages finding a decent host.

Just add that it wasn't until I returned to my Xbox 360 and Forza 3 did I realise how poor GT5 is. For example switch my 360 on and within secs I join my friends in party chat. I then simply select join session in progress and within secs im in a room racing against my friends. This is how it should be done and was like a breathe of fresh air.

Just want to add that on a positive note GT5 graphically and physics wise is easily the best console racing game. However GT5 is like having a fantastic looking girlfriend who only wants to remain friends i.e pointless!

Kaz & PD focus their attention on the wrong thing. I can think of many missing features that would of made GT5 online a much better game.

no because everyone uses racing soft online...its annoying and skill less

then host your own lobby, I did alot and if someone asked for some restrictions I would set it.
I do miss online, I couldn't be online for more then ten minutes before one of my friend would ask me to join their lobby, so most of the time I was racing online.

Although I have not really been online much (as far as racing with other people is concerned), it is something that I want to start doing once I've honed my skills without the aids!

One thing I have missed though is the Seasonals, especially the Lambo Toscana race![/

:grumpy:

I miss it here and there, but I have other things that can keep me busy rather than racing online. However, my expectations of PSN going back online very soon is still great.

Racing online is the main thing I like in GT5, my last race was on the 19th of last month & I have to say I'm not missing it at all so far.

:indiff:

I can't play the game anyway for other reasons, but if it's still offline when I get back to it, I'll probably have to play something else.

Annoying yes, skill less anything but. You still need to nail the braking points, apexs, and hold your lines. RS might make controlling the car a lot easier, but it doesn't make you a better driver.

I agree, racing softs take 3/4ths the fun out of this game (seeing idiots racing in 200hp cars with racing softs really riles me up), but luckily PD implemented tyre restrictions. Nowadays I only look for servers with both a PP and a tyre restriction (also power/weight restriction if it suits a fun car I have). The worse tyres, the better the racing usually! So don't give up on it just yet.

I just wish PD would make it possible to filter servers by tyre restriction. It's annoying to have to browse through them all.

Simply pushing the brake when you need to, turning the wheel in the right angle to make your car go round a bend and then stamping on the accelerator again gets really boring really quick for me.

When you're really pushing it with realistic tyre & car combination such as RUF yellowbird with sports hards you're not turning the car with the steering wheel but rather making subtle suggestions, whispering in it's ear and applying the right amount of force with your right foot to make your arguments. Every corner is different, every second even on a relatively straight bit you could lose it and slam into the barriers. Every corner is a stream of slight adjustments you have to do in order for you and your car to make it through succesfully, if you get into a disagreement with your car (like whispering ugly things about it's mother to it's ear), you'll lose it. It isn't a monotonous 'accelerate-brake-turn-accelerate' loop like you're just one machine in a factory.

But I guess the beauty of this game is that there are so many ways to play it, and some people like to race with the ultimate grip you get from racing softs, so I must respect it.
