For sure.. cant imagine driving GT without online nowdays.. AI is way booring and GT5 is 95%, so its quite finished... I played GT5 only online, sometimes single player with friends or just for testing.

Racing against real people is my preference (e.g. Concours Club:tup: and OMRS:tup:) over A.I. and not an often participant of the time trials (WRS).

no because everyone uses racing soft online...its annoying and skill less

i hate rooms when people use racing soft even on street cars, ok, not everyone on gt is super skilled, and just want to hafe fun, but i really dont understand what s the point of drive an mx5 whit racing soft and skid recovery force on:yuck:

Whats the point not having racing soft, when you want maximun grip in racing? Thats like people having tire wear on in drag racing, feel sorry for them.

My goal is maximum grip....

Simply pushing the brake when you need to, turning the wheel in the right angle to make your car go round a bend and then stamping on the accelerator again gets really boring really quick for me.
But you have to do it better than anyone else. I know it's going to make the car easier to drive. I avoid Racing Soft like the plague most of the time. But winning in RS rooms require the same skill as other rooms.

When you're really pushing it with realistic tyre & car combination
There isn't really an unrelastic combination. You could put any tire on any car. The unrealistic part is a road car pulling 1.5 from racing tires alone. In order to utilize the racing tire's max grip, the road car would probably need new suspension. But the point is, there's nothing stopping someone from putting race slicks on a Mini Cooper.

such as RUF yellowbird with sports hards you're not turning the car with the steering wheel but rather making subtle suggestions, whispering in it's ear and applying the right amount of force with your right foot to make your arguments. Every corner is different, every second even on a relatively straight bit you could lose it and slam into the barriers. Every corner is a stream of slight adjustments you have to do in order for you and your car to make it through succesfully, if you get into a disagreement with your car (like whispering ugly things about it's mother to it's ear), you'll lose it. It isn't a monotonous 'accelerate-brake-turn-accelerate' loop like you're just one machine in a factory.
I agree.

But I guess the beauty of this game is that there are so many ways to play it, and some people like to race with the ultimate grip you get from racing softs, so I must respect it.

Also agree. I won't demand that the host not use RS, I'll just go make a Sports/Comfort tire room.

This response comes up too often, but I think I finally know why. There's a misunderstanding.

No one is complaining that people use RS tires in unrestricted tire rooms. People just don't like that 95% of rooms online are unrestricted tire.

Of course people will use the best tire available to them by the rules. But what is hard to understand is why people only like to use the highest grade tire. It's especially hard to understand for people who find the RS tire easy and boring to drive on.

Think of it this way, in an unrestricted room, RS is maximum grip. Everyone will use it. In a Sports Medium room, SM is maximum grip. Everyone will use it, including those who don't like RS. It's just that those who don't like RS would prefer to run a room that is limited to SM.

I really don't mind...I know many are freaking out because of it and it's really pathetic to read...it's not the end of the world...wait until 2012, haha!

To Each, Their Own.

everyone's gotta stop pushing their veiws on everyone else, I use racing softs on every car, why, simply their the stickest & provide the most grip. I would want that on any car. Though I also purchase the Hards & Mediums, just in case Softs are restricted online. I don't find it any more difficult to race without Softs, just mentally prepare for slightly earlier braking & a little more slide. Plus if your playing online & and the room allows for Racing Soft, why would you give up that advantage?

Though, I never use SFR. IMO I think it's more of an aid than even a driving line.

& back on topic... I don't "miss" online racing, but I will be excited when it's back up.

I'm just a bit annoyed at the lengthy down time, as ALL of my B spec drivers were set to online when it went down, so I can't even do any B spec grinding as you need to be online to take them offline! Quite ironic really!

I miss online racing ALOT. that's all I did in gt5.. I can't wait till i can get in a lobby again.

I also can't wait to snipe somebody's FACE off...

I never raced on line to begin with. The question for me is, do I miss the seasonal updates, the online UCD updates, and even the remote racing? Yes, yes I do.

I haven't played gt5 since PSN went down. And I probably won't until it comes back online.

I thought i was in love with GT5, but even with G27 i haven't really touched GT5 since the outage. I mean once or twice i've done a lap or so of the ring but then i'm hungry for some competition, and yes i know there is A-Spec but it's just not the same once you have raced human opponents.

I loved just racing the A.I,doing the licenses, special events etc for the first month or two of GT5 - i never played online, i was having such a blast just exploring all the little things in the game.
But once i had ventured throughout what GT5 had to offer i was hungry for online and some competition after thinking i had honed my skills and i was amazed to find people were actually racing fairly clean for public servers ( given that you pick a decent room, once you find one bloody stay there lol ).

So now we have the outage i went back to A-Spec and realised just how much i miss the human interaction while racing online whether it be by talking on the mic, racing a good race and knowing that someone in the other side of the world or country is actually there racing with you in this virtual realm, it's an absolutlely astonishing thing when you really think about.

One of the best things to do online is join a Japanese room, they race amazingly clean, fair and with respect for others. I guess it's a great testament to their culture.

I've also spent the majority of my GT time racing online. Hopefully Sony can resolve and bring back the PSN by the end of next month.

Oh yer, especially after going back re-racing some of the races in A spec. Those Ai aren’t much of a challenge even when you restrict your car back below your opposition and use lower grade tyres.

You sir, have missed out on about 80% of the fun of the game :S

I started to 'save' for an FGT. Now I have the money, I cant get to the online dealership :P

Then I have finally 'completed' the game. Ie done all but the endurance events.

Not really, it's made me get on and do some of the endurance races.
And I've revisited the licenses and special events to get the Golds I'm missing.

I wish there was a way to turn on my ps3 and auto load gt5 right into online mode.

Gt5 for me is just about online. I have built up a psn list of people who enjoy the same racing as me 450pp road cards, sports hard, real grip - full damage with a full clean room. At the best track in the game THE ring/green hell (tbh can't spell it's real name)

Sometimes I would find myself happily driving in my empty lobby just testing out my cars, I don't understand why there is such a difference in online and offline physics/grip. Kind of kills the fun learning a new car knowing it will count for next to nothing once psn comes back.

While I do miss online, when it was here it could still be terribly frustrating there are many shortcomings such as filtering public lobby search for your requiremnts. Its a dam no brainer feature if you ask me.

I miss online racing. But having the online portion down is actually forcing me to do portions of the game which I neglected...so I voted for "sometimes".

I MISS THE COMPETITION- racing with the boys, phoenix, rooster, untouchable, badabing, drive die, motorcyclboat, pitviper, wardog, tj cepeda88, rubbernekker, kang, bullet, mr BOND, turgut, RX327, moab ammo, pablobrew, too many good racers, to name, top it all off, we gona miss this weekends, league challenge, we run every second weekend TEAM- N.A vsTEAM U.K-this wouldve been our 3rd league challenge, very fun, very serious, ultra competitive , i kno my squad enjoys it, we dominated last time, team UK , wants redemption u kno wat i want? somewhere to race with my boys and my rivals ....SO YEAH IGUESS U COULD SAY I MISS RACING ONLINE- PSN NETWORK CAN U HELP US? were waiting patiently , but cant wait 4ever..........capn
