I was taking a look at the shift and braking suggestion down in the corner by the tach and I realized that I follow that pretty closely. Does anyone else you that as a guage to race?
Not one bit, you will never push the car to the limits it can go to by following it. Now, in the beginning yes, it gives you a good feel of the car. After sometime you won't pay attention to it and get better as a driver
nope never used it when i did finally find out what is was for i could drive good enough ne way. i can normaly hope in ne car and be able to drive to limit within the first 2 laps or so. (apart from f1 as they are much different and requre totally different driving style). I sometime compare where i brake and what gears im in but i dont follow them.
Sometimes I use them to gauge how fast/good I'm doing (keeping in mind that I'm not drifitng to hell and back... uncontrollably) on the licenses. I remember on the Complex String, the slalom, I kept it a gear above the suggested one.
However, I do occasionally use the braking light as a general bar for when I should brake in some corners... I'm not saying that I brake exactly when it comes on, but it's helpful when I'm having trouble with a particular corner. (Especially the sharp hairpin at the end of the long straight at the back of Apricot Hill).
used to use them just to see what gear was nice for a corner cos its murder if u take it too fast (leguna seca especially) but now i pretty much know hoiw fast i have to be going iodeally for each and every corner in the game lol
No, never. The way I set up my vehicles this would not be a good idea. I always set the brakes to near maximum settings. I like my cars to stop on a dime.
I don't pay much attention to the suggested gear, but I do use the brake-now indicator. I start there, then adjust as necessary. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later.
I register its existence only...
I am rarely in the same sugested gear as the indicator.
you cant be if you wanna be fast.
at the same time, with a high powered car it is more important to be in a higher gear so you don spin out exiting a hair pin.
I use it When it starts blinking, But sometimes it doesnt even come on...it jus starts blinking and i end up in the wall...mostly the first turn @ Tokyo I
I don't use it much either. I know all of the courses pretty well, so I know when I need to start braking for a corner. Sometimes the suggested gear is off anyway. Most of the time you can be one gear higher in a corner than what the suggested gear says. The only course I use it on is Complex String. It helped me to beat the last time trial with the Ruf RGT. It is a nice addition to the game, however.
