Do you play with racing line on or off?

I currently play with it on, but I have turned off all aids apart from the line. I am considering turning off the racing line. What do you think?

Learn the track with the line on, then only use the brake indicator, and finally turn everything off.
It's no shame, they put the line in for a reason ;)

If your skills improve, turn everything off, including your HUD, race with interior view and shift manually.
There's nothing like it :)
Good luck!

I am always depend on the line only if I drive a formula car, however, I am still learning. I would spin my formula car 20-30 times a track if I drive without a line on the road.

Because only using a DS3 has become a little sterile from using a DFGT for over a year now, I turn on the line when I play using a DS3. I don't know why, but it seems like fun somehow. I wouldn't be able to stand using it if I'm playing with a wheel. That's when it distracted me a lot when I had to keep it on this one and ONLY time ever using it with a wheel.

The line is totally beneficial for a new GT player though. You learn wayyy more quickly with it.

I also use DS3. I find the racing line more distracting than anything. The braking indicator is a much better aid to use I think because it doesn't clutter the screen. I only used the racing line for braking points but I got sick of it.

I turn it on until I get to know the track decently. It's handy to know where to brake.

The kicker is once you know the track well, you realize it's a terrible guide. I know Deep Forest and Trial Mountain extremely well from the older games so when I play on them with the line on, I have to laugh at how badly it shows you where to go. I barely stay on it.

Get to know the track, then turn it off. The best thing to do is to follow the darker trail of tire tracks until you know the track intimately. It's faint, but it gives you an idea of where the computer likes to go. Once you are used to that, then see how far you can push through those areas.

The line is great for teaching newer players, but it's far from the best way to drive to get the best times. It's just safer. The same goes for the License tests. It's not an indicator of the gold lines.

I have mine turned off. I use the lines that are already on the track created by rubber from the tires. And like someone said already, the line isnt always the best line to follow. Its very conservative IMO. Great for drivers getting used to the game though.

Turned it off on my third race on GT5P.
First time - didn't know about it.
Second time - forgot to turn it off.
Third time - This time you'll NOT ruin my driving pleassure... (inactivate it).

Driving Line? There is no such thing in racing...

I found that early on when I played this game when the line turned red it was too early for me, which resulted in slower lap times. Once I turned it off I was putting down faster times and I haven't used it since.

I use driving line... Oh a bag of donuts...
screeeee crash!

:sly:👍

I turned it off after after a few days of playing the game. The line and the braking points are different from the lines/points I use so I found them distracting. I found driving without the line an easier transition than the switch between automatic and manual. Now the only aid I use is ABS 1 or the game just feels wrong.

I do that too...

Wow you guys.

I've never used it before, before driving for the first time in GT5 I went through the options like I do in every game and turned that thing off.

I keep it on. I don't need to pay attention to it, but I'll use it at times when I'm not familiar with a car/track. I know it doesn't exist in real life, but we're not racing in real life. Real life has a better feel and perception.

i can race with it off but i like it on then i feel i can push my car more and if i need that bit of help its allways on the floor lol

Thats what I tend to do.:D Bye for now.:)

on some of the tracks its ON, but when driving on Nurb line is always OFF:)

I keep it on, because otherwise I wouldn't know if I was doing the perfect brake or not, but everyone else off (except ABS, as that would be stupid in all but older cars which don't have it), I just cbf really, I know I'm a good driver, I don't need to pander to myself by turning off the driving line.
