Yeah, I guess I could entertain myself. I'm going to have to agree with Ving; I just hate people that know more than I do. And about being more pretentious that LoudMusic, you aren't. Though at times you give PunkRock a run for his money.

Oh, I know about the ignore function, I've used it numerous times, but always found myself clicking on your posts so I decided clear out my ignore list.

:reallyodd I'm not pretentious, i'm just better than you.

Do you realize that you're an even sadder 'net freak' for typing like that?

Sorry, but nothing screams pubescent AOL lameass quite like leaving half the letters out of every sentence.

And yeah, Klos, I meant PunkRock, not LoudMusic.

When something needs to be said, neon_duke says it the best.

Ok, just to clairify, I don't care if I am a "mistake" or not ... I just want to know if I am viewed as pretentious.

(:

you know what, you're a funny one. look at yourself before judging the others, Mr. "I'm gonna try to save GTPlanet's forums by giving **** to every new member, or anyone that doesn't agree with me and not make sense whatsoever"

Hey GC, I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Why have I 'gone Eminem'? And how have I changed? Clue needed here, please.

Gone Eminem, meaning a cool, fun guy, then turns into some dark person that doesn't want friends, or something like that.

Dunno, it just seems like you've posted a lot of put-downs. I might be wrong. If so, sorry.

my mom forgot to take the pill, then she got her tubes tied after i was born. nothing like rubbing it in, *****.

PR - I didn't mean to say I think you are pretentious. When I was in a conversation with another member (I guess Robin, I can't quite remember), he said that I was almost as pretentious as "another member", the implication being you were that other member. My whole point to Klos was that people who can post coherently are sometimes (often) seen as pretentious, annoying know-it-alls by people who can't. But we shouldn't let that stop us. There's nothing bad between you and me, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, I guess I am on a crusade to save these forums, even though I've only been here for 6 months. I've seen firsthand what happens when a good forum is overrun by flamers and morons. I don't think I give smeg to every new member. In fact, rjensen11 among others will attest that I usually try to give the "Welcome to GTP, there's a lot of great people here, enjoy your stay" speech as soon as I see someone with a very low post count.

I do give smeg to people (even new members) who are too lazy to look past the end of their own nose before asking questions. We are here to help and be helped. We are not here to spoon feed every idiot who shows up asking "How do I drift?" or "Where do I win the Nash Rambler LM car?" This kind of information is directly in front of any person who makes even the smallest attempt to find it. I am glad to explain things that aren't really published - how many times have we all repeated the "save-and-reload-the-series" instructions? - but I see no reason to waste time helping somebody who is not willing to help themselves.

I also have a very low tolerance for people who propogate wrong information ("If you hold the controller upside down and press the X button at exactly the right time, you get the Mini with the Viper engine in it guaranteed, dude, try this it rilly works"). This comes out a little abruptly sometimes, I admit.

I respect people that use logic and reason, whether they agree with me or not. Ask Pako and Der Alta and Gil. I'm friendly toward younger folks and try to offer good advice where I think I can. Ask youth_cycler, duo17 and Rumple (he's not exactly young, but well younger than I). I have no patience with people who are purposely disruptive, who never contribute, or who are arrogant towards the community. Ask mayorbill11 and SKILLZ.

Believe me, I don't try to be abrasive. If I did, I'd post like Klos does. I don't have as much patience as, say, AO or GilesGuthrie. But I'm not willing to just stand aside and let a tide of crap flow over a place this good.

yeah, i realise that... i'm a bit out of my mind lately ( ) and i don't think before i post... sorry 'bout that...

ahh, damn, i need more patience...

PR - Hey, no problem. Patience is a good thing - until you find yourself wasting it on things that don't deserve it. Then it can be hard to maintain, just for its own sake.

GCstyle - I don't mean to be dark and unfriendly. I still like to hang out and screw around - 10+ posts per day's worth! A lot of what I wrote above will explain why I've been a bit negative... but I'll try to be more fun. Maybe I should put "DAA #3" back in my sig.

It's really good to see some positive action being taken here in the community. I guess what must be hard for most people is being able to understand how the normal populace interprets:

Are you getting ready to post a degrading, harsh, or downright stupid comment?
Think before you speak! GTPlanet is only as good as you make it.

That pretty much spells it out. So much of the time, people tend to follow or mimic the actions of a dominant personality in a given space. Unfortunately it's easier to type mindless, symbols of adolescence than it is to take the time to post something meaningful, and god forbid, courteous to other members who might read the post. Much of the time, as members make their statements, I think they forget that this site isn't a chalk board for bathroom graphety, it's a place that is a knowledge base that the "Community" can take an active part in building. All it will take is just a little conscience thought of effort to show a little respect to fellow members and everything else will fall into place. I mean, how great is site dedicated to video games, the smell of gasoline, and the rush of adrenaline. It really doesn't get any better. Probably the sad thing is, is that members who really need to read threads like the AUP or the Rules of this site, as well as quality posts from other members won't read them, and thus miss out on the whole learning experience that would only add additional insight into the community as a whole.

Well, and all that good stuff, I'll get off my soap box now...;)

OK, I was right the first time. Should have stuck with my original guess. You see, I've never once claimed to be faultless. Pretentious? In the eye of the beholder. Perfectionist? Nah, I'd rather have fun. It's just that for me, the words mindless and fun rarely go together...

I'll be happy to get off my horse at the first moment that I see it no longer needs to be ridden.

Far be it from me to put words into Pako's keyboard, but it seems to me that he thinks it's a good thing that people are paying attention to the quality of posts and information being exhibited here. I could well be wrong, but that's the impression I got.

Or were you saying that it would only get worse now that you've arrived?

ok, what to do when you realise you are a mistake:

Nothing. Just act normal. Everyone is a mistake, AND THAT INCLUDES Klostrophobic. Just remember that

i could write an award winning comedy programme script with this sort of material.

You guys are great... love ya all.

:)

[sarcasm] That is perhaps one of the most profound, and educated responses I have seen in such a long while. Thank you so much for your insight and for being considerate enough to verbalize your observation. We shall all grovel at your feet for being the "happy" one as you stated that "yer all sad". Could you please enlighten us in your wisdom so that "we all" can rise above our shortcomings to meet your standard of well being? [/sarcasm]

Please refrain from posting "downright stupid comments". Thank you for your time.

Moderators moderating! Way to go, Pako! Honestly, I think the mods need to be less shy about doing their jobs, and I think that general attention paid to the quality of comments in this place can't hurt at all.

Two big   for Pako!

i agree.

Ugh, grow up. Or something. I haven't read one of your posts that make any sense.

Either you're really stupid or you're writing in some cryptic form and you're really telling us about the meaning of life. I tend to believe the former.
