Do you use burms and gutters a la "Initial D"

I think it does. It doesn't 'hook' you to the apex artificially like other games but it definitely helps. It will sometimes even bite u back by hitting the curb wrong and u bounce out and upset the balance of the car. On Cape Ring and some corners of the Ring I use the curbs quite liberally. It may just seem to help because it decreases the radius of a corner, but it is effective either way.

You maintain grip when you hit those apex bumps, but it only holds maybe 15-20mph before your tires grip looses its grip with those 'grip lines'

It helped me alot shaving off mini secs on Tsubka.

It definitely works on Cape Ring, the periphery at least. It's a bit tricky to keep it in the groove, and it can spit you out quite violently, but I suppose that's to be expected. It is quite a large lip on the inside of the kerbs, there. It feels great through the wheel, too.

I've dipped my inside wheels inside the bumpstrips at the first hairpin at Rome Circuit on a number of occasions, it even helped me pass that one license test :)

Ah, so they do actually work and I wasn't crazy for trying to do that every time at cape ring.

I did it on my first lap on the course, after I spotted the lip just to see if it would work. I was impressed that the car (an R32 GTS-t Type M) hooked up, but I've not actually tested to see if it allows you to drive faster overall.
The lips on Rome are smaller, and if they work, then it probably looks good for Cape Ring, too. :D

EDIT: actually, it was on the uphill section of the inner course, in an EG civic, bone stock. I remember now that it worked really well with the Civic, but is quite dangerous with the Skyline!

Probably just a very small boost, but it's still entertaining to try and do the gutter hook.

There's one on Trial Mountain, left hander between the two tunnels. Not sure if it works in GT5 or not.

What is this "Initial D", by the way?

Hmmm, interesting. I'm dieing to try out this gutter run you all speak of. But it'll definitely take a lot of concentration and good timing. Wish me luck!

Look, I know I've not let you in the driving seat for a while, but you should be training your mind just in case I do decide to let you loose on the opposition... :p
It's a B-Spec joke, I have a T. Fujiwara...

I'll give that one on Trial Mountain a go, if I remember. By the way, I had to laugh when I saw your name appear in this topic! 👍

Haha, I think I replied to you in another thread about that, said that it was seriously damaging my grip on reality.

It does work, even worked in GT5P on Eiger you could dip the front tyre just off the edge of the tarmac and it would help pull you around the second hairpin a little quicker.

I did this on the uphill of Cape ring first race too, I happened to put Initial D music on the ps3 day before for jokes. Proper Takumi moment :D

My B-Spec driver loves to put an inside tire in the dirt at Eiger Nordwand, especially at the hairpins. Not sure how effective it is, so I avoid it when driving in A-Spec.
