I think they scan through the forums. If I recall correctly, Jordan recieved an e-mail asking him to remove the Definitive wish list of 778 cars that people wanted. After it was confused as the "official" list.

But I would assume that PD does forums, as it's a very cheap way to do market research and plan ahead.
