Ya I wouldn't believe renderings, ever. The back will not look like that, even the teaser photos show that.

I'm excited to see how this car turns out. Dodge has come a long way over the past few years.

I think 9 gears may be a little excessive for an economy car. I think six would be about right. But I wouldn't be surprised to see this transmission going into the midsize cars, and nine speeds seems okay for that. Also, wasn't Chrysler working on an 8-speed DCT or something? I would really like to see that in this car.

With the products that Chrysler has been releasing lately, I wouldn't be surprised to see this be one of the best cars in its class. I just want to see them using small, turbo engines. Maybe a 1.4 for the base trim, 1.4T for the R/T and then develop a 2.0T for the SRT version. A 2.0T with ~240 hp might be useful elsewhere in the lineup.

Again, you're judging based on what knowledge? What automatically makes 6 more suitable than 9? Surely if 6 was better for the car than 9, they'd be giving it 6?...

Yall are over exxaggerating, Thiers really nothing wrong with the ride height of this car nor the fender gaps.

From what these look like, The rear design sits like a Jaguar XF, pretty good for a car thats said to be a "Liftback Sedan"

Looks crappy just because it American European cars and asian cars are 100x better than American ones

Get out. You're either a terrible troll or a moron who doesn't read. Either way, nobody wants you on this thread.

I'm just stating my opinion

That's no excuse for a douchey post. Generally it's best to back up opinions with something better than something completely arbitrary like:

European cars and asian cars are 100x better than American ones

If you had a reason better than just "because it's American", then your post might have been taken in a better light, and it might look less like you're trolling.

When your opinion is built on the informed basis of "American cars suck because America," you should expect people to respond in a way that probably doesn't conform to your viewpoint.

While this thread's back at the top, I have good news, Dart fans:

The Dart could be on for 40mpg average, not just highway.

Ah, but Autoblog says nay nay:

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/05/why-the-2013-dodge-dart-wont-really-get-40-mpg-combined/

Some media outlets have regurgitated this number without question. But it just isn't true, as that 40-mpg fuel economy number is unadjusted and will most certainly be lower once it gets printed on window stickers.

Heh, yeah, I'm aware (and if you'd read the article I linked to, you'll see that it states the same ;)), but at the same time, it implies that 40mpg could actually be achievable (certainly on the highway), which is pretty impressive. Certainly not shabby given the potential performance either, or the fact it's doing it with an auto box. The 42mpg highway Chevy Cruze Eco makes do with a manual, which most consumers don't really want.

Cool story bro did you get that out of the fridge
My advice as a general member: Stop being a douche.

I think it will be interesting to see a car manufacturer such as dodge trying to get into new markets with this car. You think dodge you think muscle car. This is them trying a new market. Whether it works or not could be interesting from a business point of view as this is a financial risk :)

I did indeed. More hygienic than pulling posts out of my arse.

To be fair, Dodge has been here before. Neon and Caliber spring to mind, with varying levels of success!

That was a fair bit of time ago as I remember the Neon in NFS underground 1  I should rephrase from a "new market" to "today's market" :) Expectations of cars 11 or so years ago are a lot different now. :)

I think it should be a coupe.

But honestly it looks like a smushed Charger at this point.

Sorry but the only thing thats "Charger" is the Tail lamps, and really.. people complain and say Chrysler needs a Competitive Compact and then you say it should be a Coupe.......come on, Its a reason why Ford and Chevy dont offer one.

I was hoping for a hatch, honestly. Probably would have liked it then.

Maybe its a Hatch... Maybe its not... The 1993 Dodge Shadow was a Hatch with a trunk....

Actually the front headlights are similar to that of a smushed Charger.

So what if I think it should look like a Coupe? In my opinion it would look so much better.
