Because they are the same.

Dodge and Mitsubishi had a partnership in the 90's. If you look the Eagle Talon and Eclipse also look the same.

Though I think there wasn't a VR-4 (4WD) version of the Stealth... I might be wrong, though.

Mitsubishi had an alliance with Daimler Chrysler from since 1971. In 1971, Daimler Chrysler, was a shareholder in Mitsubishi Motors. The first car that was a result of this alliance was the Dodge Colt which was a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant. Daimler Chrysler sold off all of its shares in Mitsubishi, but they are still in alliance from what I hear.

Besides the example of the Dodge Stealth, as opposed to the Mitsubishi 3000GT, there is also the Eagle Talon (which is the Mitsubishi Eclipse) and the Plymouth Laser (which was also a rebadged Mitsubishi Eclipse)

Wasn't there also a Lancer that was released that looked like the Dodge Spirit/Plymouth Sundance? I'm pretty sure I see one around town, although I'm drawing a blank on whether it was a Mitsubishi or Chyrsler.

And yeah, the Dodge Stealth R/T had the TT with AWD option. I believe I have seen the R/T without the AWD, although I could be wrong.

Well Dodge did have their own Lancer, it is however completely unrelated to the Mitsubishi Lancer.

Also, the regular R/T was only FWD the R/T Twin Turbo had the AWD.

I thought the "default" version was RWD

According to Wikipedia they only made Front wheel drive or all wheel drive.

seriously FWD? The 3000GT too? All my life I thought they were at least RWDs :(

Well their engines were transversely mounted.

All FWD or AWD in the VR-4 or R/T trims. Last RWD Mitsubishi with any sporting nature to it I can think of is the Starion.

And lets not forget the Stealth is fugly. And just because you have a base model or SL 3000GT doesn't mean it is slow. The manual tranmission non VR4 models were quick, not fast but quick.

But, I'm glad I owned a VR4. :D Just wish I still had it.

Nope, that's never been a Mitsubishi. But Mitsubishi Colts, Mirages and Lancers have been sold as Dodge and Plymouth Colts, Eagle Summits and Vistas, and I think the Eagle Summit minivan was a redesigned Space Wagon..

Dodge Colts and Dodge Lancers are two entirely different models..

There's also....

Dodge Dakota = Mitsubishi Raider
Caliber - Lancer (platform sharing)
Avenger/Sebring - Eclipse/Galant

I believe there was an AWD Stealth...almost 300 hp in an FWD car nearly 20 years ago is a little ridiculous.
The Dodge Stealth came with 3 engines between 1994-1996.
SOHC 12v V-6 164hp FWD
DOHC 24v V-6 222hp FWD :sly:
DOHC 24v Twin Turbo V-6 320hp AWD

I believe ye misread. I think he was thinking that the concept was a little ridiculous, thus there must be an AWD model with the twin turbo.

There were no FWD Twin Turbo R/T's. If you wanted the Twin Turbo engine then the only way to get it was with AWD.

The 3000gt SL has 222hp and does 0-60mph in 8.5secs and does the 1/4mile in 16.4sec.:boggled: For reference, a 1998 Integra Type R has 190hp and does 0-60 in 6.9 secs and the 1/4mi. in 14.9. I don't think most people on this board think 8.5sec to 60mph is quick or even 6.9secs if you want to keep it real.

SL? Maybe. But the base model Stealth and 3000GT are like the period Dodge Avenger plus (approximately) 1 million pounds. I'd be surprised if they could eclipse 10 seconds to 60.

Most people will consider a car that does the 1/4 mile in under 15 seconds quick. Those of us that are use to performance cars wouldn't think so as much, but keep in mind what the average car does these days :p
