Does Anyone Actually Enjoy A-Spec Enduros?

How do you feel about A-Spec enduros?

I enjoy A-spec when i use a competitive car

However if I'm spending an entire day playing a single race, I don't want to have to worry about losing. So I dont use a competitive car. Therefore I do not enjoy it
 
Yeah I do enjoy them. Granted.. I'm yet to tackle both the 24 Hour races. They shouldn't be a problem though as I managed all three back in Gran Turismo 4 and I'm looking forward to doing them this time around in Gran Turismo 5.

Endurance races have always been one of my favourite aspects of the GT series. I like the fact that you're not just lapping, you're also managing your tyres, trying to make them last over as many laps as possible, without losing too much time. And then there's the fuel consumption, do you drive eratically, or at a set pace. That's what decides the race. It's even better when you use a car that's near identical to the first couple of AI cars, or one with a little less power.

It's makes for much better racing and brings out the racing part in GT that I feel it lacks so greatly.

I would also never use a Red Bull to fly through the races. There's simply no fun in that.
 
I ran the Tsukuba 9 hr with an X1 on a DS3. I also did this with the Laguna Seca 200
 
I do enjoy the enduros, though I didn't think I would when I started playing the game.

The only real complaint I have with them is that in order to suspend the race you need to enter the pits. So if you want a chance at winning you have to drive a car that's capable of gaining a lead of (whatever the minimum time in the pits is) every (minimum racing session duration). So if I plan on racing Tsukuba and expect that life will only allow me to race for 30min long continuous sessions, then I have to pick a car that will allow me to gain about 15 seconds on the competition every 30mins. Making it less of an endurance race and more of an endurance time trial.
 
The 24 hour races are left for me and so far the only one i found too boring was the Tsukuba race.it's such a small map and i made like 600 laps which was too boring.i agree that using an overpowered car against the others makes the endurance races more boring but i dont want to risk any fubar in the last minutes of a 24hour race

Just set up your pace to be what you want on Racing Hard tires, then make sure you buy Mediums and Softs before starting the race. Then if you get into trouble you can put the Mediums on and catch back up. And if disaster strikes late in the race, you can use the Softs to make sure you get the win.

Just the thought of driving round Tsukuba for 4 hours, let alone 9, makes my head go numb! I've never done an A-Spec enduro in GT5, & really don't think I ever would, it sounds totally & utterly joyless.

My question is this, does anyone actually enjoy doing them?

Enjoy? No. I'm currently grinding out the LeMans 24h one, though. I put in an hour or so per day, and I'm pretty bored with the game other than that, so I'm just doing this for the "completion" part of it.
 
I'm using the X2011 in a "detuned" state (50% power) to try to get more of a feel for the car. I'm a bit under halfway through, and 30 laps ahead, turning pretty consistent sub-3:00 lap times. I have to pit every 11 laps for fuel - 100 litres at a time!

I'll finish this one, but I'm in no real rush to do the Nurb 24h event.
 
Love them, especially when me and my friends meet up and do the 24 Hour Le Mans together. Done 4 of them so far! 👍

I haven't touched GT5 in several months now, but I might do the 4-hour Nurburgring race since there's nothing else to do in the game that interests me. I wanted to do it in the past thanks to the ability to save during an endurance race, but I couldn't deal with how you were forced to continue it the next time you played the game.

I also want to do the 24-hour Nurb race too but I can't be bothered to get to Lv. 40 A-spec.
 
I was about 80% through the Suzuka 1000 event when I paused the game for some reason. I set the controller down, and my cat decided to play with it, and managed to exit me out of the game. I haven't had the heart to do the event over. :(

No I do not enjoy doing A-spec endurance races because the AI are way too slow and this bores me to death after I lap them again and again.

Might just be four friends who live locally and all take it in turns at the controller. That's how the Wurks event is run.

Me, I like 'em - I am currently about half way through the Nürburgring 24hr which will only leave the Tsukuba 9hr.

I seriously hate that track and am eternally grateful to PD that it doesn't have a 12hr version as well, like in GT4. I would be happy with any other small track instead of that one - it just gets over-used in the game. How about Eiger? That one with weather would have been great for a nine hour race. About GT4 it did have quite a few thirty lap races and used the tyre wear fuel function in the game - I miss that a bit in GT5 - which is why I'd like more enduros.

Like some others here, I'd also have loved a few more three plus hours enduros to tackle. I've done the Nürburgring 4hr about five times now.

EDIT: by the way, you should be getting at least five laps on the 'ring with RH more like six if your fuel holds out - sadly I need to pit every five to tank off so RM are doing me fine.

Depends on the Enduro.

Nurburgring 4h

tskuba or however its spelled barely made it, its only on there because i drifted like 50% of the race on a modified miata lol. (closest enduro race ive had because drifting slows u down a lot. Other than this race i usually beat AI by a lot. GT6 and the PS4...please make ai harder)

Nurburgring is my all time favorite. Ive done the 4h version prolly like 10 times.

Also try to lower ur PP on your car if u find yourself beating them by too much. Depending on car u can get a really even race.

My point exactly; make the AI harder like it was in GT3. But I need to try that on the 4 hour Tsukuba endurance race, thanks for the idea 👍 .

Ya know, I never saw the point in this. People complain about how easy the AI is to beat. Have you guys ever considered using a slower car that may actually pose a challenge? Seems to be the only thing that you're able to do to make the game more challenging.

Going to make this a bit of a rant.

I read a while ago that a player was using the 2J in one of the series....Obviously flogging all other oponents, and then complained that it was too easy! You're using practically the 2nd best car in the series! GT5 has how many cars exactly?

AI uses Zonda LM race car, how about you use a Skyline? AI uses a Toyota Minolta? How about you use a SL65 (Awesome car) or an SL600! Stock complaining about how easy the game is and make it challenging for yourself!


And on the topic of the Enduros, I've done them all except the 9 hour tsukuba and the 2 24 hour races. :( I quite enjoy them, because I've been using a variety of cars to spice things up abit.

Not all cars. The RE Amemiya (blue one) is already slower than the other tuners on nurburg 4h.

So if the Hp on it is lowered so that the AI can catch u on the straight then it can become more even.

^Without pp changing this car is well good enough to destroy the AI in that race, but with low HP it really cant do much should u lower the PP
 
Chances are that we would be way ahead of the AI, since they're so terrible. Are enduros still fun if you know you're going to win?
 
I love them, except for the 8+ hours ones

Everything bellow it is great, I can feel in peace while I just drive my car around the track for 4 hours, listening my favorite songs.
In the meanwhile I distract myself thinking about life and everything.

This so much. The enduros are definitely funner with friends.
 
It took a while to complete, but I enjoyed my 24 Hours of Nurburgring. The length of the track and weather and time change make it interesting. I took the 787B around for the race. I already had to be careful with the throttle and the thing was tail happy as it was. So naturally it rained for 9 hours, starting in the middle of the night. Now that was a challenge. Unfortunately I missed the sunrise because it was still raining at that point. :grumpy: But getting to see the sunset and seeing the track light up (even if it was just gray out there) was very fun to watch. I enjoyed the race quite a bit.

Now for the 9 hour race at Tsukuba, a buddy and I grabbed the X2010 and switched off doing some stints for a couple hours. Once far enough ahead, we parked it and let the time run down. Small track + no weather or time change = screw it. :lol:
 
Rough missing dawn on the 'ring. I had a similar experience at le Mans where it rained most of the day and dried up for the night, and then came back just after dawn. It got so heavy it started to get dark again by the end...
 
I'm now 14.5 hours into LeMans. The course is 100% wet, as it has been for about 13.5 hours of the race. The sun is up, and I'm just tooling around trying different lines. That almost makes it sound like I'm at a singles bar! :)

Night time is spectacular there, even down to the light-pollution and distant hillsides with farmhouse lights dotted across them.
