Does anyone miss Tsukuba?

The lap time comparison vs irl is now again a bit easier with this magnific little track. And the Best Motoring style races: lobbies for 5 to 8 cars.. Wow!

Looks like I’m going to be battling at least 120 people when I put forth my opinion, but Tsukuba isn’t a track that this game needs. We need locations that support higher-level GT racing. Someone earlier mentioned that this track produces more interesting laps than the “full power GT circuits”, but that isn’t what this game is about. We need those kinds of tracks in GT Sport that support the type of cars the game focuses on.

To me, this track is Horse Theif Mile’s partner in crime, and I don’t see myself doing much racing here if any at all.

It's a great track... to do time trials on.

For racing, it's current F1 bad in overtake opportunities. Only good qualifiers need apply.

Oh I'm sure I can stick it on pole alright a fair number of times, when there are no aliens about of course but it still won't stop people from "creating" overtaking opportunities before I (or anyone else for that matter) could get away from them and their likely poor behaviour, which will be at a level above what you'll currently experience at Monza. Then of course they'll stop bang in the middle of the track to serve the penalty that they got for their aggressive behaviour, landing most other drivers penalties too for running into them and each other. It'll be a complete and utter mess.

As you say for time trial and drifting too it's good but for sport mode, which is or maybe was supposed to be the main point of the game, I'm not sure they could have picked a worse track.

Still it's free content so you can't complain too much, just don't tell me it's a great and/or needed addition. ;)

Yeah for the low power street cars this track is a blast, for the people only wanting to do Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 races this track is basically not usable. I'm glad PD is still adding stuff that would be considered old school GT, I'd hate it if GTS went full esport and didn't include road cars and smaller sprint tracks.. I hope PD adds enough to keep both old school fans happy (like me  ) and still adds more sport mode race stuff to keep those people happy too.

Penalties will still spoil it, you get them for everything (at higher driving levels anyway), then you have to serve them, there is not much chance of people doing that safely here at all, event if they try too and a lot don't. So it's no good for Sport mode or the FIA stuff. Still I'm sure some will find ways to enjoy it at least.

I think its a difficult balance to try to hold - keeping the "traditional" fans happy like @CeeJay above but also giving content to the Sports Mode players. In terms of new tracks, we've only had 2 - Tsukuba and Monza, neither of which are suited particularly to the Sports Mode races (Tsukuba even less).

So, whilst I am sure there are many that will enjoy Tsukuba (and I will probably make use of it when I get to doing time trials more (if they'd only stop adding more pesky cars and events so I'd have time to start the testing ), I think the next (couple of) tracks added need to be better suited to race cars. The thing being that we can still drive slower cars on them even if they are fast tracks.

PS They've kept to their promise from 5 months ago which is almost unheard of historically, so I'm going to cut them slack for a while and just enjoy all the content they are adding (I do think they must have had many of these DLC cars virtually complete before the release date mind you).

Anyway, have fun everyone with @Famine 's rubber band

No, "we" "need" a variety of locations that suit the variety of cars the game has and is receiving. An R33, or E30 is simply not going to be that much fun around a circuit suited for 500-600hp, slick-tired racing beasts. If the games getting a variety of cars, it needs a variety of circuits.

That... sounds about right.

But if people want Tsukuba, let them have Tsukuba. Can I at least get Grand Valley? Or Spa? Or SSR 5?

I know there are many tracks that everyone wishes would be added in the next update but does anyone miss Tsukuba?!? I haven't seen anyone mention it and its a staple time attack track because of best motoring. It had such an impact on me from many hours of time attack testing and wining competitions between my friends that I actually got it tattooed on my forearm haha. I feel like it represents my goals in life, that I may be successful enough one day to rent a car and drive Tsukuba. I feel so left out that this track wasn't included from the start. Anyone else feel the same way?
You must be really happy now then, I am.

This times 1000, I was addicted to the old Best Motoring shows and I loved the fact they ran races on Tsukuba just like the races in GT4 with road cars. I LOVED it, it really was a Gran Tursimo race in real life!!

I'd watch the races and get excited and then run some races on the same track in GT4! lol good times. Ugh this makes me miss GT4 so much right now.

Haha that really is like real life Gran Turismo. Everyone else is driving Japanese cars, except for that one guy. Get outta there BMW you don't belong! Who invited that guy?:dopey:

Tsukuba is a good track... for me to poop on.

I'm not a fan of these super short tracks. There's probably a heap of short tracks around the country that people dont seem to care too much for but Tsukuba is one of the few that got international fame.

It reminds me of the short ovals like Martinsville that elicit controversial opinions too.

We cant all be Talladega or Daytona or Spa.

Brilliant track. Choice is always good. You dont like it ? Then just dont drive it. Dont say that “we” dont “need” this track because there are a lot of people who love it and disagree.

Like said above: if you give different cars up from N100 than logically you would also want a smaller track. Furthermore a small track could be good for testing cars fast.

@05XR8: online lobby was 16 cars max. Has this been changed to 18 ??

Had 19 cars at the start. 2 dropped out during the race. I started 14 moved up to 11. Pitted twice to get clean track in front. Made up spots from 18, once cars started pitting.

This is the reason I love Suzuka East and Tsukuba. ~1 minute laps mean you can do 60 laps in an hour if you wanted. Also, with longer tracks, they suck for testing because you can mess up at the end and have 2-3 minutes to re-do instead of 1. I don't like to waste that much time on a slight error.
