I may be mistaken, but wouldn't spinning out and hitting barriers (no fault of anyone else) affect your DR? The cutting corners should affect SR for sure.

Yes, you can even get a 10 second corner cut penalty for spinning out onto the grass. Go off enough and you'll get a red rating at the end of the race and your overall rating will drop if you get enough of those.
