This truley looks as if it will dominate the FPS platform from it's debut...If not..it will deffinatley go toe to toe with Halo 2, and might just come out on top if it's multiplayer is good.
 
Doom 3 is gonna have a hard time dominating with Half Life 2 coming out around the release of Doom 3. Good thing I preordered both of them. :D
 
Doom 3 will not have multiplayer. Halo 2 isn't scheduled for PC release yet, but the first Halo is.
 
It's going to run past Halo 2 in sales. No doubt about it. If you're going to buy Doom 3 make sure you have one of the best cards on the market. Not even a Ge Force 4 Ti4600 can run Doom 3 on it's highest settings. The new nVidia FX5900 can though. It will run you about $499 without tax. I paid $540.46 for mine.

Doom 3 is surely going to be the best FPS for months maybe years to come. I got the Alpha version when it was leaked from E3. It takes up a whole GB but it was worth it, it looks amazing!

Half Life 2 looks great! It too takes lots of graphics card power but dang, it's a beauty to look it. It's goign to be right along side my Doom 3 when it's released!
 
Lol....Doom 3 is having multiplayer, and doom 3's minimal requirments are a 2.37GHZ processor and a 128MB graphix card....The creators said to get some of the best performance you should have a 3.0GHz proc with 512MB of DDR....
And yes..proof that Doom 3 is multiplayer is out there...i'll post it
 
Doom 3 is a single player game. There will be deathmatch and what not, but that is far from multiplayer like Quake III.

I think Doom 3 will be more of a video card hog than a CPU hog. So, expect at least a 128mb card compatible with DirectX 9, 256mb speed king for best performance.
 
Viper....It is going to be a CPU hog simply because the entire facility will be operating at once..Everything in an area will all be active..no matter how close or far you are from it.....Hence the creators AND the magazine editors both reccoment pentium 4's for this game..Along with that it's going to "need" a 5.1 sound system..It doesn't need it, but the creators say in order for you to get the full affect of the game..There is a new attack system, in which it is pixel point penetration i think they called it..Wherever the bullet hits on the enemy
that is where the damage is done..
You shoot a person in the stomache, there will be a penetration in it's stomache...So goes for the arm's the fingers the face the eyes..Etc etc

IT'll have deathmatch but it won't be like Quake III?..What is so special about quake III's multiplayer..."GREAT" multiplayer games are games like BF1942....And of course..Return To Castle Wolfenstien, which has probably THE best multiplayer mode for a FPS that is out right now....Half life 2....The only reason I think Half Life 2 looks so great is because they compare it to the older version..So it makes you look like "OOOOH AHH, look how much better"....In actuality the doom 3 graphix, KEEP IN MIND I AM JUDGING THIS PURLEY ON SCREEN SHOTS AND VIDEO'S!!!! look alot more indepth and personified...I mean doom 3 goes as far as to incorperate the grooves in a persons knuckles..

It will be a video card hog because it will require a DirectX 9 compatible card. The only DirectX 9 compatible cards are ATI's 9800 and Nvidia's 5800 and 5900.

I think Half Life 2 looks better. G4 was showing a video of HL2 and it was looking across a body of water at sunset, it was beautiful. Doom 3 looks muddy and not as crisp has HL2.
 
I dunno from the looks of those 2 doom looks alot better in the LOOKS department, asside from that I see a screenshot that contains a glitch of Half Life 2..I know that's inevitable..but it's a glitch none the less..Considering in doom 3 you can walk atop/Stand on or across fallen bodies, this screen shot shows a "Special forces" person with his foot halfway into a dead "Special forces" person's leg.

Here's a good pic of half life, and some of that "beach" you were talking about...It looks great, but the gun doesn't look that detailed from the mid section down..Not to mention his hand. I will still buy it of course. I love Half-life. I am simply statinh. In my honest opinion. Doom 3 LOOKS alot better than Half-life does.

I know, it's got some pocket draining requirments, but I think it'll be well worth the money. Not only will Doom 3 and Half Life 2 set a new standard for FPS's, but from here on out there are only going to get better. Meaning the upgrade won't be in vein.
 
What I'd like to know is how the Xbox version will be like, as AFAIK it's only the equivalent of a PIII 700 with a Geforce 3 graphics card

I could be wrong of course.
 
Well most console versions of a game don't require such high standards sime they are tuned to run on a television, which doesn't nearly match that of a "monitor". That is Return to Castle Wolfenstein can look just as good on the X box as it does on a highly upgraded PC.
 
No, it's not because of a TV. There are no operating systems like Windows and bus limitations like the FSB and memory bus bogging down the system in consoles. That's why console require less processing power to run PC ports.
 
There's no operating systems? When is the last time you looked at the side of a Dreamcast? There is a huge "WINDOWS CE" logo on the side of it.
 
Why don't you look at the logo again.

It says "Compatible with Windows CE". Meaning you can use Windows CE compatible products with the Dreamcast.

Dam my crappy Pentium 166!! Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 should easily surpass Halo 2 in sales, but Doom 3 will outrun Half-Life 2, just because the people at id are the most insane people ever. :P
Seriously though, Doom 3, from what I've seen and heard, looks more polished and playable.
 
Ok viper, if there is no OS in DC then explain how it can burn CD's? Explain how you can adjust it to read all different formats of CD's? Is it magic? I know it doesn't store triggers so what's your explaination on that?

I wouldn't count on it. Halo 2 is now the most awaited game ever (even more so than GT4)
