Dragracing in a GT game

I know , i feel you... myself i'm a track addict , and i drive real cars on real tracks in my real life as much as i can... and corners are the best part... fun is not a straight line... but i think drag racing could be put into the game... it won't eat much of space , and if you don't like it than you don't have to play it... In my opinion PD should take rally racing out... i hate it , it's easy and not very entertaining... i had to do it just to have all the licenses and 100% of the game... but i didn't really enjoy it... i would like drag racing more than rally racing...
 
I dont know about drag racing cars but i would LOVE A thing for top speed that is just ENDLESS STRAIGHTAWAY. It goes straight for as long as you wanna sit there. I want this so i can actually tottaly max my cars out. On the Oval I end up running out of room before my car is done picking up speed.
 
Drag racing is fun. Lowtech has obviousy never been in a car in a drag. Really fun. I like straights, but only if I have competition on it that is even with me...
 
BTW, dragracing wasnt taken out of GT2, it was just never completed. That is why you can have Drag cars and modify the Intrepid into one in the game and that is also why you can get to the drag stip that is just outside Laguna Seca if you break out of the track ;)...
 
First of all, as regards the idea that a drag race isn't a race... what is the point of a race? To cross the finishing line before your opponent does. What does drag racing involve? Cossing the finishing line before your opponent does. Settled.

Granted, I myself considerably prefer circuit racing but wouldn't be opposed to seeing some form of drag racing in the game (and quite a few people on the site seem to concurr). All provided it was done properly of course i.e. you would be in control of the launch (would have to wait til the light goes green before flooring it, with false starts a possibility). Reaction times would go a long way towards deciding a race as opposed to just simple "MY CAR HAS A HIGHER BHP SO I'LL JUST MASH THE THROTTLE AND ANNHIALATE YOU" approach.
 
well.....i love drag racing,and if any of you were wondering, the special stage r.5 track is the best for drag racing in multiplayer, since the straight is 990m long :eek:

thats no true.........you can get 100% if you get the super loicense and win all the event sythesizer races!:dunce:
 
there is nothing i hate more than races that include no twists and turns. screen name is rallyf1 because that what racing is all about. i do not watch drag racing, and i hate nascar to death. but the idea of online drag racing is not bad. you set up your car and you race it against someone whom you have no idea what he got instored for you under the hood of his car. but this means that car customization have to be more complex than the traditional gt tuning system. all in all not bad, not great but not bad.:D
 
If everybody wants those Damn dragraces, they just have to put it in as an option for the acceleration-tests. So if you don't want to dragrace, you don't have to.

Actually LOWTECH,

Many racing forms are about spending another $10,000 to go another 2/100th's of a second faster. How much do you think Sauber F1 spent on their new wind tunnel? :rolleyes:

Seriously though, drag racing IS racing, but it's not associated with GT racing (unless you count the standing start). ;) If I have to choose between DR & better AI, give me better AI. If I can have both, give me both.

Don't get yer bootie in a bunch. Its only a game. :lol:
 
I say bring on dragracing because it will give the game some variation, but the cars should be regular street cars that has been modified. They could have one or two real dragracing cars like the F1 cars just for fun. I would like to see dragracing instead of driving 20 laps around the frickin' test course:banghead:
 
If you don't think it belongs in the game and it ends up having it in the game then JUST DON'T DRAG in the game. Atleast theirs another feature. And why are people saying their is no skill involved? Ever hear of TUNING? And people are saying all you do is cross the finish line, well thats what your supposed to do on other courses, race to the finish line. It might just be a straight road but thats pretty much what the test course is and they made you do 20 laps to complete 100% of the game.
 
To sum it all up: Drag racing is real racing
It would be a good addition to this game(in arcade mode)

it should be available in both sim and arcade...or I wish if they include it :cool:
 
I think the games gonna be just fine as it is and if they do add drag racing BFD!!! All you need is one track in arcade mode so you can have FUN with your friends( and not utterly destroy them on a circut, ya my friends cannot play the game wortha crap)...isnt that what video games are all about, having fun?

If you have to spend $10,000 to go another 2/100ths of a second faster in the quarter mile, you either:

A. Got ripped off.
B. Own a civic.
or C. Can't drive worth a s***.

Most likely all of the above.
 
it depends on how fast your car goes in the first place

if your doing say 8.4 it might just cost you $10000 to get it down to a 8.2
 
But to spend ten grand to drop the time by two hudreths of a second is abit much without taking the top fuel cars into consideration anyway, thats spending £10,000 to go from 8.400 seconds to drop it to 8.380 seconds.
 
Drag racing IS fun, in sega gt it was pretty good. But one thing I would want, is for it to FORCE the use of manual gears.

Yes the force of manual gears is a good idea....it takes a lot more skill to get good shifts and starts, even if you don't have as good of a car as your opponent, you can still beat them with precision. In NFSU, the game forces manual shifting, and if you can get more perfect shifts than your opponent, you'll probably catch them if they are in catching distance.

im with Talentless on this...yes gt is more of a road racing game.....but LOWTECH dont bash drag racing...yes it does REQUIRE skill....tell me why my buddy runs my mustang at 7.20 when i go right behind him and run a 6.20 in the 1/8...some people are just plain stupid :banghead:
 
Some know me as being a full-on road racing fan. But I never said that drag racing isn't racing. Now while the drag racing guys and gals aren't the ones who can do hot laps at Suzuka, they can still put on speed and skill. In fact, I can imagine all the American V8 fans dragging their Challengers and such (online play will make it all the more better for one V8-head to challenge another).

To me, I think drag races shouldn't be reflected in your win/loss percentage, because GT is all about road racing and rally. In drag racing, reflexes and skill determine win and lose. Do you remember the HKS Drag Cars from GT2? If they make a comeback, you bet you will be able to USE them in real drag racing competition instead of piloting a 180SX Drag Car around Complex String or Monte Carlo.
 
Well even thought you cant compare the two but in NFSU it forces you to manually shift gears, no automatics which is pretty cool IMO, ut like I said there two diffrent games but they had the point down pretty good, but for me running an old mustang or whatever in drag would be alot of fun, even thought some might not like it, its all up to what makes everyone happy, if you dont like in personally then dont play those races, plain and simple it comes down to what KY and PD wants in there game, and for what the people want, this game is for everyone with diffrent likes, thats why they added enurance races, rally races etc.. I dont like endurance races mainly for the point that I have no time, does that mean im gonna b*tch about it, no because its there for other people, If drifting was in GT4, im not good at drifting and I kinda dont like the concept anyways but I wont b*tch about it being in, I'll just choose not to play it, so all in all if its in, choose to play it and if you dont then dont play it, and if it counts towards your 100% then tough luck if you want 100% then live with it, I havent reached 100% because I havent beat the endurance races, does that make me made no because I play the game for what its for.. for fun...
 
I think it would be cool if you could bet your credits or your cars against each other or the AI in the drag races (instead of just winning prize money).
