Drift Apex/Clipping-point

Fellow GTP drifters,

I've got another n00b question for you ;)

Would the racing line & apex/clipping-point when drifting be the same as when grip racing?

I would also like to know how you guys tackle the Suzuka circuit "S curves"?

I've attached an image of the section in question so you could mark where you think the clipping point should be.

I follow grippers' lines when I drift

Never really found a use for a driving line though..

yes the line is pretty much the same, I like to look at a track and trace the perfect line that will minimize the angle i need to turn my steering/wheels to clear all the turns, you can watch this video i just uploaded, it shows a good line... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioesTXBFYz0

You adjust the line depending on the car, but in general the lines are the same for drift and grip.

Hmm... looks like its pretty much as I've guessed it, the line's the same for both grip & drift. Thanks to you guys for your input, it sure helps ;)

but actually if you look at d1gp competition or other drifting events, when they do the qualifying they will often go for the outside line, calling it THE BIG LINE, when you go for the inside they call it THE SMALL LINE and say its not the way you gonna earn points, whoever gets closer to the wall kind of thing to get more points soo its not always the case...sometimes in drift its more challenging to drift the outside line and try to get as close as possible to the outside especially when theres a wall...

I tend to take a slightly different line through the esses when drifting.. often hugging the outside a bit longer on entry and aiming for a later first apex.

Generally I use the grip line through the last apex, but for the first corners through S-combinations I often choose an "out-in-in" approach when drifting. When done right it could allow you to hold better angles for longer and making smoother links. It also allows for a bit of that "big line" thing... scraping along the outside before diving in for a late apex.
 
I personally am just starting drifting and have yet to get good enough with timing the start of a drift to worry about lines but 70% of the time I go up high and swoop to the middle or bottom at exit.
 
I find for the Suzuka S curves that a gentle dab of the brakes brings the back end of the car round for the next corner, and so on. But it needs to be timed, otherwise you will either:
Come round too early and look like you're taking a shortcut,

OR

Come round too late and slide off into the sand.
