I haven't jumped on him for asking questions, I never have a problem with that, because that's the point of an internet forum. And when people get answers that are useful, people stick around.
But if the information is misleading, wasteful, pointless, garbage, or just plain wrong, then this forum would be of no substance nor structure. And we have generally been consistent over the years. But we have also had people lie about their entire lives for years, and thus someone who can't back their claims up should choose their words very carefully.
We have many members that do have wealth and nice cars, we have a tiny handful of members who race professionally, as well as current and former amateurs and weekend autocrossers. There's mothers and fathers of kids in these boards, teenagers, college students, adults, and even a few middle-aged, and a handful of senior citizens. Owners of nice cars and average cars, beaters, rusted jalopies, and people who rely on public transportation, bicycles, and even their family to take them where they need to go.
In reality, the more outlandish the claim, the more proof is suggested to verify the claim. Nobody likes a lie, nobody appreciates a liar, and someone who makes claims without backing them up is an annoying person that isn't welcome at our forum. If you wouldn't say it in real life, there's not much purpose in allowing it here. If you said something that might get you in a fight in the real world, then saying it here isn't welcome, either.
If you don't think we haven't been through this before have a look at this thread:

It's always been okay to be yourself on these boards, but pretending to be someone else or to willingly give out false information is of little value to anyone.
Yes, we hold ourselves to a higher standard than many internet forums. And that's what people want, information that's useful to others, and in a friendly and helpful way. We demand that everyone use a civil tone and use some order and use punctuation, word choice, spelling, and grammar in such a way that everyone can understand each other in a professional manner, or at least, to be clearly understood.
But nobody should devote any time to someone who can't help himself out, can't be straightforward with us first, and can't back up a claim made by the user himself, if he thinks that's what makes him so darn better than the rest of us.
Period.
