Well I can guarantee you that if it wasn't for drifting, I most definitely wouldn't have been able to save this spin.

Thats a nice save. He most certainly has a lot of car control skill. It's very true that being able to drift is beneficial to grip racing. Since last August (when I started drifting) my racing skill has improved dramatically. Now I've golded all GT Academy races and attempting to gold all license tests with a DS3.

Definitely. Apart from the fact that I managed to save that spin, my road course times improved by around 2 seconds at pretty much every track I was on. My reactions and ability to regain grip without losing time increased dramatically.

I agree, it's easy to feel when a car will break traction. However my mind puts me in either grip or drift. I never think of drift while grip racing as I believe it'll slow me down, however some cars are quicker to slide than drive :sly:

When the driftking raced in JGTC he used to drift his R32 through certain corners overtaking and getting quicker lap times... But this technique was frowned upon.

I've definatly noticed this in our D-Max race series' that we've done... The drifter tend to do better in RWD cars....

I guess knowing what can cause a drift and what doesnt cause a drift helps in racing. You know how to prevent the car from losing traction but if it does, you know how to control it. I've also found I tend to find the maximum grip for a tyre better by drifting on them for a bit. But yea, drifting has definitely helped me when it comes to grip racing..
