question: who's a big enough petrol head to know what that gold coloured thing is (dont really see them on modern engines, this part is now replaced with a better system 'mostly')

I would have to agree with @MeanElf 👍 -I would hazard a guess it is the old bosch distributer and pipes firing voltage from ignition coil to sparks, the majority of current engines use Direct Injection (coil pack on plug)

Amazing photos! Well done guys!
I think it's the first game, where we can see a reflection of car parts (mirrors, wings, etc.) on the car body and vice versa. Fantastic!

I agree with @torque99 @RL_23 I love the 'still' snow shots, especially at night - and the grandstands have an extra realism about them under the flood lighting. Great stuff.

It's one of my missed in action pictures, probably due to real life duties I missed it, just like few others shots. But now I'm looking once again in all of my DC pictures (over 6000 total) and my "missed in action" folder with over 300 shots left for future. Revisiting them brings really good memories and gives new ideas 👍

50 bonus kudos points to @MeanElf and @torque99 👍 it is indeed a distributor cap and ignition leads, inside is a rotor arm, electricity supplied by the ignition coil feeds into the center of the distributor, the rotor arm inside spins making contact with the 4 ignition points supplying electricity to the spark plugs to ignite fuel and air mixture inside the engine. @torque99 is correct, this has been replaced by coil packs now :cheers:
