Well since I'm doing this review I thought I would give a little background on myself first. My name is Bunmi (pronounced Boomee its Nigeriean) 31 year old guy that lives in Northern VA and I am a CAR NUT! Its so bad my dogs names are Pnut turbo and Lady Torque. When I was younger I had an interest in cars but it didn't blossom fully until I played 2 games one of them being Gran Torismo. I'm now the car stat guy amongst my friends and family They ask me on the spot how much horsepower a certain car has stock and I spit the answer out. I memorize stats on cars horsepower ratings, which cars handle good, which were reliable ect. I started picking up magazines and would constantly read reviews and features on cars it got so bad that at one time had 13 subscriptions to various car magazines I just love cars I can appreciate the high revving engine of a Honda S2000, and the handling of a Miata, the prestige of a Porsche and the heritage and muscle of the Mustang. I have had my preorder in for about a year or so only upgrading it to get the collectors edition. Most of my friends gave up on GT5 and went on and picked up other games, but I still had faith in GT5. I got off work at 8 am parked at my local gamestop at 830 and went to sleep.Gamestop opened at 10 am I was on my way home by 1004 am with my collectors edition in hand! Now on the the review portion have been waiting for this game like you all for a long time.

Graphics 9/10 Graphics are great I had my issues with the non-premium cars but it didn't bother me to much plus that was not a surprise most people already new about that before the game came out. Premium cars with the in car view is amazing absolutely love it. Photo mode is wonderful the detail given during photo mode is great you can make out every little thing even in the interior of the cars.

Sound- 9/ 10 sound track wasn't that great but I think we are all used to all the Jazz that is usually found in GT( I like jazz not in my racing games though) - you can use your own custom sound which makes up for that. The sounds of most of the cars I played were good especially the 2011 sti and the Stock mustang gt where i have issues is when you add performance exhaust on the said Mustang and it sounds like a 4 cylinder or v6 instead of the V8 there are several glitches that need to be ironed out like this which is why I took a little off

Gameplay -10/10 I played at a Friends house with the G25 and holy smoke! If I had the money I would have already have the wheel. I also enjoy the gift system I have been able to give cars to help out other people and they send my car back nice and modded as a thank you this system should be incorporated more. There are tons of modes you can spend hours in any of them! Bspec adds more of its own spin for a different experience( its rewarding when your driver finally improves). The online as time has gone on has improved!.

Overall- 9.5/10 Like many of you are aware there have been a couple of hiccups since the launch of the game. That being said it seems like Polyphony Digital is ready to support and make the game better through patches. I can appreciate that and seeing some of the other glitches other games have been having lately. Its nice to see that they want to get it right.Yes we had to wait 6 years and some things are a disappointment but what it boils down to is are you enjoying the game and for me it is a resounding Hell YEAH!! More you put into this game the more you will get out of it. Forget the 800 standard cars, jagged edges which I don't notice, forget the AI sticking to it's race line. GT5 handling and physics are superb, I can feel the bumpy road and the most important thing which games forget now days it's fun to play. Its been a rough year for me not alot of bright spots, being laid off twice and loosing my mother ect ect. I was just looking for something to get away from it all something that kept my mind occupied. With my gaming funds limited especially this year. I have to find games that are gonna last for more than a week, games that I truly enjoy. There is so much variety from Kart racing, Nascar, Tuning, collecting cars, picture taking, and GT TV. Gran torismo isnt a race simulator only it is an automotive car expereince. The detail that went into telling a little bit of history about certain cars is astonishing

If you are in the same boat and are a car nut as well, ask for GT5 for Christmas you wont be disappointed.
Verdict- Boomee 100 percent approved!!!!!!!!!!👍:bowdown::cheers:

Whoa, a lady who plays GT, buys 12 DFGTs and then gives some away? Pretty freaking hot. :D

Anyway, I already have a wheel so I won't try and be greedy. 👍

If you only knew how bad my car fetish is. Most of my friends are no longer my friends because of it. I mean they get tired of hearing....sorry I'm racing. All of my food has been delivered to my door since launch! :sly:

almost level 27 distance traveled almost 7,000 miles. Been playing since 11am on the 24th. Damn install time slowed my obcession down a little.

I withdrew my review from the thread (not that I was going to win). Im too impatient and came up with the cash to get a wheel. Should be picking one up this weekend. :p

Good luck to everyone, and props again to KaiLee for doing this 👍

Well... Gran Turismo 5... 6 years in waiting... most of us bought our ps3 just to play it, some even had to buy 2, due to the YLOD, losing our precious GT HD concept with our old PS3. Then came prologue, small game yet it was the game that has spent most time in my PS3.

Well to start the review...
Graphics: 10/10. Beautiful, glorious cars and enviroments... honest, my friends found it hard to believe that the pictures i had were not real and were in fact GT5's photo mode.
The only thing that held GT5 back were the PS3's graphics which are quite powerful, yet not enough for kaz's perfection.

Gameplay: Realistic physics: All we racers wanted was to drive like in real life, and that's what we got.

Lasting: unstated... i'll only take the game out of my ps3 when GT6 comes out. haha... some may think im missing out, yet no game matches the GT series. sry FMS fanboys. haha.

overall: are you sure this is a game, i might be dreaming i'm driving these cars.

What a great idea you are a true fan of GT, and what a great way to show support for the game and the site and supports it. Hats off.

Hey there, I'm new to racing and i was looking into getting a wheel but for the ones my friends suggested the prices were just so much of a turn off. I wish the best of luck to all the other people. Good luck to you all.

Just to let you know, Kai... you are doing an awesome deed here. If there was a way I could contribute I would. Good luck to your endeavors and to the people taking part in the events!

Happy motoring.

Patients is definitely something I don't have. Especially when it took me almost an hour to write that up with no kudos :(.

I'll give you kudos for a good review 👍
However I really dont have anything of great value I can give to you, maybe a unit patch or some stickers?

Thanks again! I like you :D.

Hey Kailee I hope you don't mind me sending you a friend request. I'm just trying to get a big list of GT5 racers that like to race clean. I also sent you one HumanDestroyah. See you on tracks :).

Kai, It's very nice of you to giveaway great stuff...

If you don't have a Stealth Mclaren F1 / #20 Nascar. I will give you the code. Send me a private message or add me my psn if interested.

You got my respects. 👍

Thank you.

Pretty simple review, i'll keep it short.

I love GT5, mainly because cars are pretty much my life! I see some people complaining about niggly little things, which don't actually hinder the driving and gameplay at all. These things don't bother me, what they have included is amazing, and the physical driving is great. There's not one thing that's bugged me so far, and i dont think their will be. We all liked previous GT's and they had the standard model cars, so why is it such a big deal in gt5? I don't know. But i love it!

Gran Turismo 5, in many ways, is a flawed game. For some, it will be a major disappointment considering the 6 year wait (since GT5-P was considered to be a "demo" of sorts). A typical review would then go on to talk about the flawed AI or the weak spots in terms of graphics, but truth be told, none of that really matters to me because despite the conclusion I started this review off with, I LOVE THIS GAME.

I'm no computer programmer or hardcore gamer (I own a grand total of 7 games on PS3) but I love cars. I love cars so much that starting when I was 3 or 4, I started calling out names of cars, even before I could speak English well. When I was a teenager, I would skip school, work, tennis practice etc. and spend hours learning about cars which I will never own or even drive. Drag strips, autocrosses, car meets, dyno days and admittedly a few impromptu street races were all part of my life in those days ...along with GT1 of course. :)

... and because of that love of cars, I don't want a game which sacrifices realism for "easy" or "fun to play" or "exciting" or any other description which may be seen in a positive light by many hardcore gamers. No, I want realism. I want to be slower if I miss the correct line or brake too late. I want to experience oversteer if I apply too much throttle in a high horsepower, rear wheel drive car and understeer if I try to go through a turn at full throttle in a front wheel drive car. If I lift throttle in a high speed turn, I want to lose control. I want the game to require and deliver precise steering and throttle inputs, which result in noticeable changes on the screen. To sum it up, GT5's physics and driving dynamics are done just the way I would have done it myself (if I had the capability to, of course).

Its also the little things. The painstaking detail of the Premium cars, beauty of some of the tracks, how the engine note changes depending on the view, etc. Again, just how I would have done it too.

Did GT5 get all the details right? No, but then again, was it realistic to expect that a video game would be perfectly real? Not really. So for me at least, it all boils down to this. What makes GT5 (and the Gran Turismo series in general) special is not some delusional claim of perfection but rather the passion and the obsession over all things automotive. GT5 is a celebration of the automobile from a group of people who clearly love them as much as I do.
