is this comment coming from someone who doesnt own/ drive a car? just wondering. :sly:

I have been driving for 8 years. I own a Kawaski Ninja that I race at the track, and I also have a KTM enduro bike. So I know a thing or two about sliding 4 wheels and 2 (which makes drifting a car seem like a walk in the park).

I have a problem with GT4 and the Logitech Driving Force Pro. After I've been racing for awhile the brakes come on "slightly" (shown as a single red bar on the brake indicator) which makes it impossible to reach full acceleration. The only thing I can do to correct the problem is to pause the game, unplug the USB cable and then plug it back in to reset the wheel. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any thoughts on whether its the game or the wheel that's causing the problem. I need help!

I just got the Driving Force Pro yesterday. So far I love it. I havent got GT4 yet, But trying to get prepared. Ive been using a MOMO wheel for my PC racing games. The DFP wheel is the first I ever tried for my PS2.- ( oops!) I mean my Sons PS2. lol Anyway I was very surprised at how well it works, and feels. All I have ever used for PS2 games is just the basic controler. So it did take me a while to get used to the wheel. But once you do,-WOW! Makes a big difference. I wasnt sure if I wanted to invest the money for a DFP, But after reading through the post and hearing most of you saying how good this wheel is, I had to give it a try. So for those of you who have expressed your thoughts on the DFP. - (Thank You) for talking me into getting one.

DFP is worth the big bling...I bought a used DF for $30 and it worked great until I got gt4.I was all over the place. Picked up DFP and it was like night and day. Being able to turn the wheel 900* is totally like real life. I built a custom table for it ,and it doesn't move an inch.(that is key, keeping it still)

:grumpy: Okay, now I'm having a real problem turning off and on the ghost during license tests (on N/A GT4).

I finish a lap successfully, and then a ghost should be available to show. Sometimes the ghost shows up and then I can turn it on and off using the square button (which I mapped to "ghost" on my DF) But about 95% of the time, I can't get the ghost to turn on no matter what I do. I've went into demo mode too, and I can't seem to turn it on or off there either, no matter which button I press.

Has anyone else found a similar problem with the DF (non-pro)? Maybe I need to reset the buttons back to their defaults.

I did some searches, but couldn't find anything about this specific problem.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please let me know. Thanks, fishman

default is UP button on D-Pad for turn ghost on/off

after I tried some drifting with my DF, I found out it was so hard
I felt that using DS2 could turn larger angle than DF
did someone notice that? or was it just an illusion?

I have set to simulation mode in option screen for the wheel

what I experienced was ....
when I used DF to drift, I tried many times with different countersteer action time, I never got "over" countersteer, which would snap back
I also paid attention to the gas, tried stable at 50% - 80%, no help at all
when I used DS2, like most people did, very easy to get over-countersteer
the car snap back to the otherside
so do you think this is human error or wheel lock-to-lock angle difference between DF and DS2?

I'd say human error. I haven't tried driftin in GT4 yet, but in GT3 I could use the DF to some extent to drift. Yes I did better with the DS2, but I don't think it was because of the wheel, I think it was me. I probably could have gotten better with the wheel with practice.

What are these modes you speak of? In the option screen where you set the wheel's controls, I see it says steering at top, but it doesn't let me change it (and it's set to nothing). What gives?

The DF works great for me from what I have heard their is not that much difference from the DFP and some say the FF is stronger in the old DF.

maybe I should practice alot more :P
but it is very tempting to get DFP, but my GF kept saying I should sell my DF first for 100 bucks (cdn $)
that is impossible don't you think? :_(

back to topic, in option menu, there are 3 DFP icon
the first one is to setup the setting of your wheel for both DFP and DF
and you can choose simulation setting like you can in GT3
my GT4 is asia version, I am not sure the US/PAL version for this

I'll check it out. I never saw the simulation setting in GT3 though I don't think. Maybe I just never looked. What is the difference between modes?

I don't quite know the differences
all I know is ... it is for professional not newbie

Hey, still waiting for pal release over here, I think i'll get the DFP with GT4.
Anyway, I was just wondering is it easy to navigate the menus with the wheel or can you use the DS2 at the same time or something? Thanks in advance :)

Can anyone clearly explain the differences between the 3 settings for the DF (non-pro)? These settings are for the DF only (they do not apply to the DFP). The on-screen description was not very clear.

1) Amateur
2) Professional
3) Simulation

I am more interested to know the difference between Pro and Sim. Thanks.

in gt3,

amateur is when the game helps you out with the steering so that you dont oversteer or understeer too much

Pro gives you less help

and simulation seems to give the wheels a smaller range of motion.

I assume the same applies with gt4.. I am never using anything but my DFP to play GT4.. neva going back to my old driving force. :)

Hooked up my Driving Force to GT4 PAL on Friday, and up to now have been blissfully unaware of any issues.

However, I've just fitted my car with NOS, and now have quite an annoying problem - I can't assign a button on my wheel for boost!!

Seems my Driving Force wheel (being the "Official GT3 wheel") is NOT fully supported by the GT4 PAL version? There's menu options for the Driving Force PRO and GT Force, but no mention of the standard non-pro Driving Force!

Adjusting the button mappings for the DF Pro has NO effect whatsoever. And the GT Force buttons do not seem to map to my wheel either.

Manual shifting (paddles) work fine, and all other buttons seem to be "hard coded" - even if I change them, they stay the same.

Circle = Hardbrake
Triangle = Reverse
L1 = Rear View
L2, R2, Left Paddle, Right Paddle = Shift
Square + Cross, R2 = unassigned

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the boost/special button mapped?

Thanks!

Since this is the DF thread, I might as well ask ...

Has anyone had a problem where the steering would just stutter and then go all wacko?

I tried to race on the Nurburgring in my M3 CSL and everytime I would go through a sharp turn, my steering feels light and then all of a sudden my wheel's off-center. This problem became imminent when I tried drifting on Tsukuba in a Supra. When I just start a new session and the computer gives me control of the car, I would always veer to the left or right. I think my wheel is not centered, but it would change sometimes.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I hope I do not have to get another wheel.

Whatever car you are driving. Go to the tune shop for the manufacturer and do the body refresh it will save your life. I had the same problem with my Minolta Toyota did a whole bunch of suspension mods and it still jerked from left to right at high speeds finally went back to tune shop and noticed body refresh unchecked. Took care of it well..

I use the Driving Force, but wow its in such bad shape. The throttle pedal snapped in half (i must have been driving a slow car and have been pressing the pedal hard to the floor, literally). The two pieces are glued together and comes off on occasion. I also have to occasionally open it up to clean out the pots. And my brake pedal is messed up, it doesnt register actual braking until the pedal is pressed half way down.. still it's great fun, after all i've had it since GT3 came out.

you could always go to checker and buy a set of pedal covers. they are usually aluminum and have brackets to hold them in place. (for the broken one that is)

Actually, that wasn't the problem.

When I would race, my wheel wouldn't turn smoothly. It would jerk while I am turning, making me lose some control as a result. When I would stop a car, any car, I turn the wheel and I found out that there was something wrong with the wheel because it would not turn smoothly. I also noticed that on straights, my wheel would feel light and then the car would turn in a different direction, resulting in a meeting with the wall.

Here's how I solved it:

I hope I didn't void the warranty, but I took the wheel apart and found out that at the end of the wheel, there was something like a knob that the wheel would turn. It was all loose and there was nothing holding the knob down, so I fixed it by placing the knob thing back in its bracket and then when I drove again, it was smooth as butter.

Thank gosh that I fixed it. Now I can save some money to buy the DFP later :)

Thanks for your help though. I'll keep that in mind to increase the car's rigidity ;)

For all your cheap arses like myself who bought the old DF, and cant be arsed building a full on cockpit or whatever....use your wifes ironing board :) it's height adjustable, relatively stable, cheap, easy to put away, and you can use a regular couch :)
And as long as your not freakishly tall you can just put the pedals underneath not a problem.
Beats crouching over a coffee table or using that fricken ridiculous lap thing.

my 2 cents.

Sometimes ive problems with the DF, it just locks in the middle of driving/racing.
The throttle goes from 0 to 4000 rpm up and down. If you press start you cant go anywhere. I have to unplug the wheel and quit or continue the race with the controller :(

It happens not very often. Maybe its a conflict issue??

Also I think when you go into the menus of the DF and DFP in GT4, then alter settings and go driving it locks after a few meters.

i dont have any of these problems got the ds2 the weel was to expensive 125euros and since all these problems appeard i´m glad that i didn´t buy one
