In melbourne i got lapped by some cars, i could follow them in the slipstream; And i could use my DRS twice? is it a bug or can you use DRS for unlapping?

I believe this is correct actually, so long as you're passed by them within the detection zone. It's funny getting lapped in my virgin by vettel only to DRS him back into turn 1 :)

You're also getting DRS if you're the one lapping others. Really don't know if that's correct...shouldn't it only activate if you chase an actual opponent?

You get to use DRS if you cross the DRS line less than a seconds behind another car. It makes no difference where that car is position wise in relation to you.

It's largely because the software used to govern the DRS system in real life cannot distinguish between lapped traffic and cars on the lead lap. No doubt Codemasters could easily do it if they had a mind to, but they're being true to real life with it.

No, if you're less then a second behind any car, you get DRS, it helped Vettel quite a lot in the closing laps of the Spanish Grand Prix, if anyone saw it.

Yeah DRS is active for lapping, very good rule if I'm honest.

Can anyone tell me if the DRS closes automatically after opening. In real life the DRS 'Letterbox' closes once the brakes are applied, does this happen in the game? Or do you have to close it yourself??

Closes when brakes applied.. You can also close it manually for the extra advantage lol

IIRC... The DRS is judged at the first line and only the first line. So if you pass someone during the 'no man land' section of track. Despite being in front you can still use the DRS. Lapped or not.

Cheers waynz, at least I won't have to think about closing it whilst trying to brake lol.

And yeah I think your right on the rules, I know I have seen Vettel many-a-times open the DRS on a back marker.

I never though that a lapped car could use is DRS to unlap himself... at least even if the software allows it the blue flag rule doesnt... so shouldnt the game...

of course you can use DRS and KERS to unlap yourself. But there's other rule - you can unlap only once, so if you can't drive away from the car behind you (leader), you have to let him pass you and stay behind.

Imagine situation that kovalainen stuck behind Vettel who got flat tyre or gearbox broken and couldn't unlap :)
