please don't guess...it might be delayed in october and perhaps we'll see a spring release in 2011. Sounds far fetched but really isn't.

Oh I agree, that is a very real possibility. If it is not a worldwide release in October, then US and EU can say hello to a 2011 launch.

It was annoucened in the US by SCEA it would be released in 2010.

doens't matter, KY himself said the game would be released "soon" hasn't happend. We should learn from the past; DON"T assume GT5 will release at any time unless you just bought it.

This would be a nightmare. :grumpy: Let's hope not.

Also, a second delay would picture PD and Sony as incompetent companies, I don't think they will do, but it's a possibility indeed. :yuck:

That's what I think. I don't quite understand what is the difference between that Portuguese dude and this one. I'm sure people will believe to this guy just because he brings "good" news. Sure, this one is the marketing vice president, but both work for Sony, so...

Right, it would be a bit of a 'mare, but what second delay?! If a second release window is set for Japan, and it hits it, then there will have only been one delay. Nothing at all has been announced for US and EU yet, so only time will tell.

What happen to the thread with GT5 release date predictions taken from the Members? There were couple 2010 dates predicted by members, I wanna see who is closest one ;)

Iv had a quick look at when gt3 was released in Europe. July 20th.
Gt4 march. These had the higher figures in sales. Sony will want to maximize sales. Gow3 and ff13 is released. And later in year october is mafia 2 and red dead redemption. Sony are gonna ram 3d down our throat. And gt5 will best showcase it. Best of all summer all to self. No releases around it. Blanket tv marketing. Would make sense

No not really, there is a reason games don't release in summer.

1) People are outside, not playing video games(henceforth they don't buy any).
2) By the time the Holiday season rolls around the video games that released earlier in the year are long forgotten.

Companies hire people that spend time to figure out when the right time to release a product is. There is a reason they make big money, they know what they are doing.

I don't think October's even 100% guaranteed. Hard to trust anyone, especially with what has transpired in the last say, 3 years. So, who really knows?

You make it sound like timing the release of a video game is a science, but really, it's just common sense,

Anyway, it's nice to see that October has risen to the top of the charts now we have that announcement on the news page! Bunch of Lemmings (including myself!) ;)

Making big money and knowing exactly what you're doing aren't necessarily connected, hiring those marketing people is one of them.
You can release a game like GT at any given time, maybe a summer release isn't ideal but GT isn't purely reliant on hype.
GT is a game with a huge lifespan with consistent sales and maybe a peak during Holiday season, you have to calculate the total sales over this lifespan not just peaks.
If they can't figure that out, which indeed isn't rocket science, they aren't even worth hiring in the first place as they don't seem to grasp some games are different saleswise than others.
Here's my tip, when a game is ready release it before it's outdated, just common sense or logic totally free of charge. ;)

So true... many companies turn over so much cash, and yet there is so much incompetence in the workplace it's unreal. Energy / utility companies in the UK are a prime example!

Argos says May.
HMV says 10/12/2010.
Amazon says 1/11/2010.
Tesco 24/09/2010.
Asda 24/09/2010.

The funny thing is that all of the above stores are already discounting the game
with Asda being the cheapest at £37.91 with free delivery!.

I'd say November, I'll even 'predict' before thanksgiving  How crazy am I? :dopey:

I just got back frm Blockbuster and in their Window of the store they had a couple of Games for Pre Order Including Gran Turismo 5 with the new Boxart. I asked them about their predicted release date and they were pretty confident abiout it getting released on the 30th April. Odd

Sorry, but GT is no different from any other video game. People here may think it is but it's not. Marketing people know what they are doing and it's more than common sense(they go to college for it after all).

Also, try making tons of money being a complete airhead, let me know how that works. In order to be successful you need to know what you are doing. Even if you win the lottery it won't last long if you are a complete idiot about it.

Right, so going to college automatically means you have common sense?! I've worked at a couple of large multi-national companies, and I can tell you now, a lot of the marketing folk there didn't have a clue, and most of them went to University and had other professional marketing qualifications.

Who said anything about making money if you are an airhead, or winning the lottery? The debate is around the marketing of the game and the fact that it could be released at any time with little impact on lifetime sales. Granted, GT is a game, and is thus subject to similar strategies that other games go through. So they decide to release near the holiday season...you think that is something they get taught at college? Sounds like common sense to me. So they decide to release in Japan this year and move US and EU to 2011. Whatever, I'm sure there will be "strategic" reasons, probably ones taught at college, but I still maintain that it will make no difference to the relative success of the game.
