DVD wont work

Hey I mistakingly bought a region 2 DVD off eBay but I live in Australia I know it's possible to buy a region free DVD player but is it possible to make my ps3 region free?

I think it used to be but now that you can't install Linux onto PS3 systems anymore...no, I guess that possibility has been eliminated.

Think their may be an region code option, think the PS2 had it as well not to sure.

There is no programmable region code in the PS3. If you bought the PS3 in Korea then you can only play that region's format DVD's and Blu-rays but you can play any PS3 game in the world. That's how it works and you can't change it as far as I can tell. I would just save yourself the hassle, get a region free player, and who knows? Perhaps you could start a foreign DVD collection?

You could also rip the DVD with a computer, which might save you some money and hassle. As long as you don't sell the DVD afterwards (or delete the rip if you do) it's not illegal or anything.
