E3 GTPlanet presence?

GTPlanet is probably more likely to be taken seriously (excluding any kind of media-industry-based snobbery) and we know the questions Kaz doesn't like being asked, or are always always asked...

It doesn't mean he has to answer the questions though - I would expect anything not directly related to any official announcement would get the usual vague answer from KY...

Exactly. The risk is so huge and the gain will be little. News will not change. If big news is revealed, then it's revealed, no matter who reports it.

But the idea of sending someone from GTP is sincere and genuine. However, it's not that simple.

Even if a interview wasn't possible with Kazunori Yamauchi (I doubt it would be hard, SCEA know GTP and how many fans read)

And someone in SCEE has told me he must introduce me to KY :D

I could brush up on my Japanese and ask in his own language. Might be more likely to elicit a response? :D

Well again as i see it, for me personally it would matter and make a difference, tohave someone from here instead of random X journalist from random gaming site. Matter of taste. And the risk/reward. Im also aware that many have no job, some have good jobs, other goes to school (well here you get payed to go to university so thats no excuse).

Personally i often spend 2-300$ a month on games. so taking 10 or even 20 $ out wouldn't matter much. I doubt theres a lot who cant spare 1$ at least, but again i don't know everyones situation :)

Besides getting dedicated info, maybe a KY interview, it would be a good bonus to give fx Jordan or some senior staff a nice trip for the thanks for this site. Many users have spend hours upon hours in many years here, and while some already pay for using the site, 1$ more isnt a "risk" in my eyes. Thats just how i see it, and its quite ok to disagree :D

40 minutes chatting with Penrose Tackie, shooting the breeze with Johnny Herbert and Sabine Schmitz, track time in a 370Z and GTR...... Jealousy flows thick though my veins.

Introduction to KY would cause a stroke. :nervous:

You'd have to brush pretty hard - in my very limited experience, it's difficult to impress a native Japanese speaker with their own language :scared: But yeah, if successful, I'm sure he'd appreciate it! 👍

And as for risk / reward, I'm more of the "he who dares, wins" school of thought; or, more accurately, "what if?". There's no reason not to try, in other words...

The best is to send someone trustworthy from LA to reduce costs. Whatever he can get is welcomed.
That is my little contribution.

Generally the attempt is appreciated, if a little less than accurate...

Whoah there. I'm flattered but I don't swing that way...

I'm all for it. I think both Jordan and Famine should do something crazy and go. We'll raise what we can in the meantime.

Now seriously, if Sony invited GTP to E3 it would be a nice way to improve their relations with its fan base.

ARE YOU LISTENING SCEA?

Now I think that is a very good cause. If someone could get some ties with the top man.

FYI I am now doing basic video work for a Playstation news/reviews website (Playstation Lifestyle). They have E3 access and are attending the show. The people (person) attending will be taking lots of videos. I will most likely be sent these videos to publish. Also this person will most likely be trying to get interviews from all the studios. IF GT5 and PD/KY are present I will do my best to keep GTP up to date.

I guess I could give the EIC or whoever is going some heads up on what questions to ask (to KY or anyone related to GT5) and what videos to capture. When the time comes, if possible, I will make a thread.

Why can't we just send the questions to PD via email if someone here has good connections? Or do video conference?

You have to work in the gaming industry. I know when I worked for GameStop we didn't really have invites to go, but we were allowed to.

To the press conference you mean?
Anyway, Jordan you don't need to go. If there is a member living in Los Angeles, he could go. And even if you interview kaz, he propably is not going to reveal any new information that were not mentioned during the press conference before.

Edit:
Even though I'm 14, I live in California near Los Angeles. I might be able to go if my parents approve it. I can take pictures and videos. [=
Oh really!!! Do your homework then, succeed in the exams and ask your parents for a favour:idea:

Jordan & Famine-

Considering that press conference and trailer details are live-blogged (by IGN et al.), and that opinions of the GT5 demo from people who try it are also common...

If the only real benefit for GTPlanet is that you get an interview with KY, why not just collaborate with another reputable game site (IGN, 1UP, CVG, etc.). Have them drop the GTPlanet name in the interview, and have them use some of the questions you would ask. I'm sure you could at least get your foot in the door with some of those sites.

I think the GTPlanet brand has, by this point, established itself to the degree that it would lend additional credibility to a collaborator's interview, and might even get Yamauchi-san's attention and get him to give clearer (less generic) answers.

I'm sure there's a deal to be struck in there somewhere!

I'm not concerned about getting an interview with Yamauchi-san, as I don't anticipate that would be a problem. The trip would cost me considerably more than $400. With food, lodging, and airfare, it would cost at least $1400.

Whoa, we don't have to go so pricy. I'm sure there is a nice Motel 6 or Days Inn near the Expo that we can hook you up with. And we can set up a nice meal plan off the McDonalds Dollar Menu. And don't worry about Airfare, we'll just get you a nice seat on a Greyhound Charter.

Just Kidding! Nothing but the best for you, Jordan!👍

I'd donate to the fund, if the idea ever gets going. Perhaps a list of people willing to donate can be made and if things start coming together we can get a PM (from Jordan himself - so there's no foul play, etc) and donate via paypal. I'd also prefer someone who is close by in Cali as it would help with the costs if nothing else.

Another idea is that we can create a list of Mods in Cali that would like to attend and we can vote (privately of course) for one person to go, unless of course you aren't going Jordan and/or want someone to attend the show with :)

Jerome

I would certainly donate. Raising $1000 with 135,638 members and EXACTLY 1000 users online as we speak (how ironic) shouldn't be a problem at all.

please?

...;)

What if a High Grade member, administrator or moderator, like Famine, Jordan...I dont know make a deal with some blog like kotaku, joystiq or whatever journalist that go in there. The deal will work something like, GTPlanet gives the Journalist the questions, and they publish that in their blog, it will benefit the blog too because all GT Fans will go in there giving it lots of clicks, and if im not wrong the more clicks they have, more money they get? Right?

Or we can raise funds to send someone there. 👍

Playing devils advocate here, what extra information (above everything we will get anyway) do people expect to get by having a representative of GTP attend E3? I mean sure, if there is a local staff member who can get to E3 easily, fair enough, but a flight from UK to US and back isn't all fun and roses, especially if the trip is short.

Still, I'd donate to the cause if the individuals concerned really thought it was worth it. I'm just not totally convinced that it is, but I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

Well I don't think we can answer that question until after everyone has their interviews and we start asking why wasn't this or that asked. The thing about Jordan or Famine from here going is that we will be able to talk directly with them and get the answers we are missing or find out what Kaz can't be asked or answered during the event.

Do you know what I mean?

Unfortunately, getting E3 press passes isn't trivial, so I couldn't get them for just anyone who wanted to go on my behalf.

I hope that specialized coverage from GTPlanet would be able to provide more in-depth impressions of any demo on the show floor, aside from the typical "it was great" reactions of general news outlets. In an interview I would ask, aside from the obvious questions, about the mysteries of GT (car licensing process, interaction between SCEI/PD, etc.) which I and many of the fans here have long debated and wondered about. I also find that many questions in Yamauchi's interviews are somewhat naive, and I would of course try to avoid that.

And I'm only kidding. Aside from being a logistical nightmare beyond nightmares, flying 14,000 miles to go to a 3-day games show is just silly - particularly when we have mods-next-door (by comparison).

Updated OP.

But guys, about this risk/reward, maybe its a language barrier. I can fully understand why someone doesnt want to spend money on a thing like this, but "risk" when we talk maybe 1$ :S i just don't get that.

Theres 2 "rewards",
1) getting specific and good coverage with the exact information we need, with availabillity to ask questions live.
2) Paying a little back to some senior staffer from the hard work (this is more a bonus though, but nevertheless its there)

The "risk" = pay 1$ to a site you most often use quite a lot, but only getting same or slightly more info at peak times, as you would have had from random site.

Although it is not a nice question, one of the first things I would ask is: "Many GT fans have voiced their disappointment with the low level of communication from PD about GT5. While these fans understand that PD needs to focus on GT5 as much as possible and that there are many things that are secret, they feel there should be at least a little more back and forth. What are your thoughts on this matter?"
