I got the same exact e-mail. Sort of seems like this is an anti-trust lawsuit.

Either way there is money involved for people that bought games basically football games from 05 to now. So it might be worth it.

But the thing is, if I returned the football games or no longer have them, how can I justifiably claim that I had them? I'm all for getting money back but:
A) I no longer have the games.
B) It says it violated CA laws, don't you have to be from California?
C) I don't want to receive money from what could be a frivolous lawsuit.

There really isn't anything that you have to have them currently just that you bought them new.

But seriously has anyone tried filing a claim? I know I bought Madden back on the PS2 in 06,07 but my number says invalid. 👎 So I Dunno.

well at lease it's not me, but since it just rolled out today and there are probably a bunch of people that could maybe try submitting it just overwhelmed the server, probably will try later on this week.

From what I read EA overpriced their football games to earn more money and I guess some customers found that out and filed a lawsuit. But it's probably more of a trust thing.

I really don't see how this can come off, EA technically did nothing wrong as far as I can tell. I mean we know they're money grabbing scum but I really don't see what they are supposed to have done wrong here? They can charge what they like for videogames.

Its most likely due to the exclusive license where they feel a lawsuit can be found, saying its an Anti-trust violation or something.

Here is the exact story. Back in 2004, there was a massive price war between 2k2 Sports and the Madden franchise over that year's football titles. 2k2 Sports had priced their football title at $20 whereas EA priced their Madden "update" at $50. Seeing the competition outselling EA, EA did two things, one was cut the cost of their football title to match 2k2, and the other was secure exclusive rights to the NFL license from 2005 until now. The 2005 edition of Madden saw a price increase back to $50.

EA claims all of this is because Madden is a AAA title, when all of the evidence is pointed to the contrary (i.e. the devaluing of the game after just one year, cutting off online servers[if said game had any] after a "posted notice".)

Two gamers from California found out about the gouging and sued EA about it. The email that you gentlemen received is the settlement offer.
