Isn't EA's response a bit like saying, 'Ok yeah, we admit we are bad but we are not as bad as these guys.'? However, you look at it that still makes them bad!

I wonder why nobody voted for Activision, that publisher who has started the whole trend/law of "We can turn anything into cash", and also the beginning of subscription-based gaming with the addition of Elite, and how that further disparates the community when subscribers cant play content with friends, because they are not subscribers. Ontop of that the whole limiting exclusives to one console so that it gets favored lickings.
 
Probably the COD whiners kept them off the ballot. You got to remember though, this is going after the worst companies because of their costumer service, being J******** on billing, throwing packages over fences and calling them delivered, ect.

This is exactly what I think. What they've done to the NFS franchise can be considered a crime but not literally. What Monsanto's products have done to my country's land is literally a crime. Sure, EA has done much harm to the gaming community but corporations like Bank of America, Chase & Morgan, Blackwater, etc. do much more damage to all humanity.

Indeed, this diserves being captioned with the picture of the girl weeping about something trivial.

Because Activision only does this kind of cartoonish bad things to the people who work for them rather than their customers. None of the things you listed are in any way comparable to, say, Origin; and Activision only gets away with it because CoD fans have created an atmosphere that allows them to.

You need to consider though that monsanto, halliburton,... are not companies that sell to private customers.

I agree with you though that even on the consumer level, there are way more threats than a game requiring Origin to run.

On the other side good for EA, they were massive bunts years ago, it seemed that they learned, but it only lasted a few months.
now they are back to the evil corporate status.

I for myself am frustrated with how the gaming nowadays works.
Buy a game, it's not your's, you can play it as long as servers are online (people from UFC 2011 really were ****ed over), you hold a liscence to play a game.
I have Carmaggedon installed on my PC, over 10 year old and still installs without mocking me with serials, activation or internet access.
Then there is the massive DLC BS. A real expension ok. But costumes, and arbitary ingame objects that normally were granted via unlocks are now payable.
On DVD DLC is even worse. Bad time to be a beat'em up gamer i suppose.

Then there are the multiple methods of DRM, which are ridiculous.

Console player whining about locking games to account to fight "piracy" and used games market.
Welcome to the club of PC players. We've been enduring this for years. luckely the PC grants you more access as to how far you let you get screwed over

And lastly there is the whole gathering of info that just gets creepier and creepier.
From online surveys years ago, to Origin taking apart every folder and cookie on your Pc to look what you bought last on Amazon.

If the evolution is going to stay the same, either people will cave in because they don't care about their rights or this industry will have a hard and rocky way for the near futur ahead.

So in conclusion, it is a well deserved award for EA, but it does not necessarily means that the other companies are in anyway better, there are other big problems

One correction. EA doesn't put out UFC. THQ does. I agree with your point, but EA put out a MMA simulation that the UFC didn't care for, nor participated in its development.
 
^Ok. But it shows how this industry treats the paying customers. Those who have a bootleg copy or a second hand don't care. It's the customer that they so heartfully seeking after (retail buyer) who gets kicked the first in the nuts

The greatest part of this is the response. They basically just said "at least our products don't pollute the ocean after massive accidents, contribute to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of our customers each year, allow us to get government bailout money for ruining the economy or directly contribute to massive screwups in overseas wars" rather than actually trying to defend themselves from the allegations.



That's a bit like (if you'll forgive me for invoking Godwin here) Mussolini going to his trial and saying "I'm innocent because at least I'm not Hitler." I hope EA fires the idiot who made it, for their sake if nothing else.

Can't come as a surprise that AT&T, Wal-Mart and Bank of America went as far in the competition as they did. Obviously, they had been seeded, which is why they were placed in each end of the tournament tree.

One thing that strikes me, however, as a non-American, is Paypal. Why do they progress that far? IMO, they are probably one of the companies in the world that provides the best service - a service the banks have yet to implement to make business safer....

Yeah, I started up BF3 just too discover they have released "Shortcut Bundles". That is just the ultimate form of ripping people off. Basically you buy it and unlock all weapons for that class. And of course there are one for all four classes as well as Co-op and vehicles. And I thought Activation was bad with Cod Elite.
 
"Please don't be fooled," is my motto with Activision. Activision are just as bad as the worst in gaming. They get a free pass from many gamers and the media unfortunately, but, it is what it is.....
 
Thankfully, I do not play many Activision games...


...Unfortunately, the only Activision games that I do play is Call of Duty. :)

Problem with Paypal is when you become a seller. They simply keep way too much money when you sell somethin.

Really? I use Visa, so that's not a problem. COuld you tell me about how much they keep, in percentage? Lets say you sell something for 100$, how much would they keep.

BF3 is actually my second EA game, after 007 Nightfire on the PS2.
