Actually, I'm Level 12 now. I forgot I was a Level 9 before I made that post above. I leveled up to 12 tonight for some strange reason because I rested three times and automatically leveled up for no apparent reason.

I just found the coolest sword in the game ever so far... All I can say is that it is green, made out of glass, and does damage of 8. If I can take a screenshot of it, I will.

Oblivion is by far the best game I've played in a long time (minus the minor problem with crashing. it's a little buggy.).

Glass blade, great light weapon (apart from elven weapons later on :P )

You should have a look at the whole glass set!

Oh god, this is such a great game. ATM I'm pretty much ignoring the story and doing my own thing. The scope and depth of this game is something else!

Shame it's a little buggy.

Also gotta agree with the guy who mentioned the swords in it, they look so great, espeically enchanted ones where then runes etc glow.

Yes code there are some bugs I noticed too. The "take all" feature doesnt want to take all the awrrows from bodies sometimes. And sometimes the awrrows in bodies wont show up in the loote 50% of the time nor can i take them off bodys sometimes.

My biggest gripe is the sound. It plays fine for like 2 minutes then it just gets wonky.

I joined the baldes now so maybe I'll just go exploring.

The clerk at my local EB Games said that Oblivion was more than just "a little buggy" with something near 20,000 reported defective copies on release day...

Oh man I must be lucky then.. I haven't any drastic problems with my copy yet.. Except the AI walking in walls occasionally :P

I don't normally play RPG's at all, the one other one was Fallout 2, which I loved, and I think this game's making me fall in love with computer style RPG's in general.

The only thing is I wish this game came out a week later, because my ISU would have been due and I would have done it first, now I'm screwed because I can't resist playing this game.

Hey Pako, where do you get those katanas? I've gotten about 7+ hours played on my 3rd character (Acrobat) and I specialize in Blades and light armor, marksman sneak etc. So far, since the near beginning of the game, and about 5+ dungeon crawls, I've yet to find any real upgrades to my light armor, or my silver longsword , or even my bow. I've found 2 magical items, maybe 3, none anything worth keeping (a heavy helm that detects life, and some light pants that help with fire resistance).

No merchants have any real upgrades, I'm stuck with over 2000gold with no where to really spend it. I've bought a few skill ups from trainers, and maybe some food, but that's about it. Am I missing something?

Currently I'm doing odd jobs for the fighters guild, and I did maybe one or two civilian quests. I enjoy hiking through the field and finding dungeons, but while they are fun, they seem too easy and yield nothing special (gold, harvests, but no boss monsters and no real good equipment). The game seams easy as a Arcobat, all I have to do is sneak around dungeons un-seen and shoot my bow for 3x damage while undetected, and I've one-shot killed almost everything I've hit. Sometimes I just run around with a torch and my sword so I see at least a little action.

Anyway, yea, I went from a question to a personal view of the game so far. So I'll continue with the view.

The game is great. The AI is great, but not the smartest, they dont pick up on the obveious, you can tell they are scripted to do certain things at different times (I killed a man in a town, and the guard yelled at me for stealing).

Join more factions to get cool stuff. I joined the Dark Brotherhood and you get a cool looking sneaking suit, hoods, rings, and necklaces that all give bonuses.

Join the Blades to get the katanas, they aren't anything special though.

You need to level up more to get the better items sicbeing (Sucks because Morrowind was less restricted. ) You should try to get the Elven swords and armour, they're much more worth finding. :)

I got mine early on from the Blade's Guild who I quickly joined. I later killed a guard and got a nice silver long sword. I accedentally took a bar cup, and put it back..he started attacking me, so the bar maid and I took him out. LOL

So yeah...

I'd love to get this game, but i dont think i would have the time to play it

Im the kinda person who likes to get the best and not miss anything. Which i fear for this game, because of its size.

I am seriously considering this game, I don't usually go for medieval swords and potions type games but I did enjoy Morrowind quite allot (I loved stealing peoples belongings and selling them ).

Do any of you mind if I gatecrash? I have Oblivion on the 360 but that thread seems dead.

There's a shop (somewhere) that sells a two handed Akavari (I think it's called) sword (same style as the one-handed katana). It's magical too. Proberbly only useful if you're between 1 - 5 in rank. The game levels up every 5 ranks.

Anyone try the money glitch? first major out of box exploit. I did it since i was tired of hauling 500gp from 6 hours of gameplay. Of course it works on both Xbox360 and PC. I know its a way to cheat for gold but it doesnt make you invincable or a ubber killer.

Well I created a new Monk, a cat. I went straight for the Arena and after a few hours I got to beat the grand champion. Each arena kill gets you anywhere from 100-350gold per round, and theres 10+ of them.

An easy way to beat the final arena fight is to complete his quest, make him realise he isnt what he thinks he is, and he'll become depressed and take a dive in the fight. I ended up with a few thousand gold, i went from level 1 to 2 in the process also.

Well I obtained a copy of TES IV: Oblivion.

I even bought a bit more RAM to meet some requirements. Overall this game kicked my video cards ass.

My motherboard doesn't have an AGP slot for some ridiculous reason.

So I have a:
Pentium IV 2.8
768 MB RAM
nVidia GeForce 5500 128 MB (PCI) =/

So I dunno what to do, I guess I have to wait longer to get a whole new computer altogether, so it'll be a while before I'm able to experience this game at something higher than 5 FPS.

This is by far one of the best games I've ever bought, I'm impressed with the graphics, gameplay, story line, everything. There is not one thing I don't like about the game. I like how you can change the difficulty level so the game is not overly easy or hard, but still gives you a challenge.

i've been playing the game a few minutes at default graphics and sofar it looks really good and the gameplay seems solid. :) i think my social life is gonna take a big hit for a few weeks :P

I need such a game... Somehow I never played midieval games but this one really appeals to me!!!

I guess it is medieval although I never really thought about it as such, with the vampires, magic, etc.... But yeah, great game...

Not sure if I would call it a spoiler, but my eyes are turning red and I'm having bad dreams....hummmm, I wonder what's happening to my character.

I think the game is way overrated imo. I never finished morrowind and to me Oblivion has been toned down in some areas but combat has been overhauled. It just that new car smell type of game, after a while the greatness will die down. But this is my opinion. I have only played for 8 hours though. Its fun to me not nearly a bad game but not something that I'd lose a grilfriend over or call into work for(oh GT2)

Well, I definitely don't think I will loose my job, loose my wife, have my kids taken away, and be taken to a Gamers Anonymous treatment center, but it is a cool. ;)

Is this game online?

I bet it won't run very well on my PC...

This came has performance issues.

I'm running a 7800 gt ee, with a 3000 athlon 64 running at 2 ghz, and 1 gig of corsair ram, and I get very average frame rates. Out side it can turn in to a slide show :(

Oh thats something I need to know. I got an AMD3500 with a GF6600 and 1GB RAM so I guess it wont work for me:scared: Were you talking about the highest settings or something?

Probably, I reckon I could run it on low to medium settings. I'll just turn off the shadows.

Your character has most likely turned into a vampire. I had that happen to my character. Check your resistances/weaknesses page in your journal. It should list Vampirism. I won't tell you how to get rid of it though, as that would ruin the fun.

be glad, i get 15-20 out doors with HDR @1200x684(16x9). But I'll take a lower frame rate over longer load times(Xbox360) and studdering graphics. Turn down the veiw distance if you hadn't and grass should be lowered, the grass at max is a resource hog more so than HDR.

This game is bugging me literally. There is a bridge that you will fall right trough along with the npcs outs side of anvil. The second bug that i hated since i saved my game after it had happend was i was in the middle of a quest and i accedently grabed a a peice of bread dropped it quickly, checked my bounty right away, it was 0 but seconds later a guard magically apeared with a bounty of 1. So i pay the fine and now i can't complete the quest. But the quest charactors are still there waiting for me to show up at 11pm but nothing ever happends. There is no quest marker. So now i have to re start my place where i just done a few quests already. Getting stuck under the imaginary bridge was less bother some.
