"Triggered"

15ly is my max at the moment :P But I don't mind it that much yet as I'll do a bit of exploring and gives you the feeling you are going places..
You should save up for an Asp Explorer or Diamond back explorer. Both of these ships can get close to 40ly without engineering IIRC.

My Cobra MKIII with a full combat load (no SRV) gets 26.6 ly, but you can get much more out of that ship. 32ly is attainable with Engineers and the right build. You can get into the low 40's with a paperweight build too.

The Asp Explorer is a very pretty ship, might do that! Thanks for the tip :) 6,6 million is not too bad and seems to have much more potential than the Diamondback.

26 is nice, making it a fighter is a nice idea too but that's something after I get myself a new ship.

First priority is making money and rank up for the Federation. Saw those community goal payouts, looks interesting. Just bring stuff enough times before the deadline? My Cobra currently hauls 20t with SRV but I saw 60t possible with the Cobra? Need to find bigger cargo racks next time I go online..

You can do the community goals in Solo mode as well. I grinded it bit for the Asp Explorer early on and it was the best decision I've ever made in this game. It's probably the most valuable ship I have in my entire fleet as it can literally do any job in the game, and it can easily hold 80t of cargo, more than 80 if you don't equip a SRV and some other things like a Surface scanner, you can probably get closer to 100t.

And just like that my jump range is close to 60ly. :). I swapped a few parts around, got it to 54 or so, then I tried for a better result on my Increased range FSD engineering. On my fourth try I hit optimized mass of +55.3%. The most you can get is 57%.

I still have to do lightweight engineering mods on all the parts I can, so I'm thinking I can get it to 65ly or so. Pretty happy with that.

Edit: oh, and I'm definitely getting the fast scan mod on my detailed surface scanner.

Double edit:

We are :censored:ing cooking with gas now boys! I gained another 3-4ly just by doing lightweight sensors. :D

I bring you this special news bulletin, I just found this out.

Maybe some of you know this, but this is the first I've heard of it. You can tell what kind of planet etc is in each system, by using the system map. When you zoom in on the planet, music plays. There's different music for what type of planet it is.

http://www.objectscanner.net/

This handy dandy guide plays the different sounds. I don't see every type though, I guess not all of them make sounds. There's also a link in there to the wave scanner.

I'll have to try this out later. I'm getting pretty good at just looking at a system map though, and can tell what's worth scanning right away. That along with the hologram of the planet on your HUD.

Great jump range on the Anaconda anything beyond the 50's is insane.

Was tinkering with my Dolphin last night, I'm up to a 37ly jump range so far, I have a class 5 passenger cabin and a SRV equipped plus more internals, I could pull over 40 out of this build but I don't know if I want to sacrifice more. It's my VIP passenger express and I like having the SRV to explore the tourist beacons that are destinations for these missions, usually it's lava geysers or something cool.

I was actually kind of pissed I didn't do this upgrade before I went on my trip, it would of saved me at least 75 jumps one way to the core. I had all the materials and engineers needed.

Right now I'm working on unlocking the chick that does level 4 lightweight life support. I need to get to Dangerous combat ranking to get her unlocked(and have the Shinrata Dezhra permit, which I already do). That and lightweight heatsinks is all I can really do yet. I hope those two mods will get me right at 65ly. The fast advanced discovery scanner is a really nice mod, it cuts scan time down a bunch.

I'm working on Lori Jameson too, currently at Master combat ranking, 62%, it's going to be awhile, combat rank is as slow or worse than Exploration rank.

I modded the power plant of my Dolphin to grade 5 - armored power plant at Hera Tani's. DOn't know if you have tried this yet with your Conda. I had a roll go my way where the Mass field went into the positive (blue) instead of just showing a potential negative result (Red). It wasn't that great of a roll but I managed to get an armored power plant, better integrity rating, better (reduced) power draw, all while decreasing the mass of my 4A power plant, so not a bad roll overall, that is how I bumped up my jump range to 37ly. You can also do the lightweight scanner mod there too.

Tonight I'm heading out to see Selene Jean again going to mod my stock lightweight armor to make it lighter (hopefully). But first I need to find some military grade alloys first...

I was going to make my stock lightweight armor lighter too, until I figured out that you can't. If you read on INARA, there's no mass penalty or bonus added to the stock lightweight armor. So you're always better to go ahead and get level 5 heavy duty, because no matter what negative mass you roll it won't affect anything.

That's weird, I was actually going to mention this earlier, but i forgot.

I'm at 72% master, I can gain 1%-2% each time I go to a Haz Res, plus about 2.5 million so it's not too bad.

Bummer, oh well, you saved me trip. Going to head out to see Palin instead, time to modify my Thrusters then. I'm pushing close to 400 KM/S in the dolphin, I'm curious to see what a grade 5 DD tuning will do.

I'm missing some combat action, it's been awhile (if you don't count the pirates I killed while Mining in the Python). I seriously need to jump back in the Corvette soon....

I'm still plugging away at my Fed rank to get the Sol permit. I'm also loving my Type 6. Such a beast.

It's named "Hulk" and hauls me around systems within 100ly to Aganippe (my current home system)

I'm working towards an engineer for FSD's and once that's done I'll work on another two.

Great choice Sprite, the Type 6 is great entry level hauler which can haul 100t and has an un-engineered jump range of 30ly (19.63 fully Laden with cargo). I forgot to mention this to Carlos when we were discussing the AspX. It's less expensive than the AspX too, only costs 865,790. I would plan on sinking another 2.9 million to completely outfit it with a trader build like this:

https://coriolis.io/outfit/type_6_transporter/0p8tdFal8dds8f4-----040403035b012h.Iw1-kA==.Aw1-kA==

I made enough money with the Type 6 to easily buy a Type 7 (which holds over 200t of cargo). If you like trading a lot then I would recommend getting the Type 6 before the AspX You can make enough money trading in the Type 6 to afford the AspX later.
-----
The Quest for Speed:

So the final results of my trip to see Palin and mod the Dolphin's A-rated thrusters are in, I went from 400 km/s to 526 km/s (boost), my regular speed with 4 pips to the engines went from 290 km/s to 376 km/s. That's not bad at all, I think only my Cobra MKIII is faster, I dunno, I'll have to check the rest of my fleet tonight and confirm. I also have an ImpEagle and ICourier that are close to that speed, possibly faster and my AspX is also very fast too. I know you can get the ImpEagle over 700km/s so I have work to do still.

oops, post edit, I meant theType 7 hold over 200t of cargo

I have seen a video where a guy is getting 7 million (15+ possible) per hour by exploring with the help of a website. It's called 'Road to Riches', you enter your current system and it plots a route for you. Read the quote below or go to this website (Reddit). I'm going to do this so saving for the AspX wouldn't take too long. Just need to get me the right outfit on the Cobra to do this exploring tour.

Tool:

So, I now present a web-based tool to produce such routes from anywhere in the bubble: Road to Riches (online version).

This is "public beta", so it's not yet included in the navigation bar at the top.

Routes can be plotted with up to 400 light years from the start point, and up to 700 systems per route. The limitations are there because with bigger numbers you have to wait for results too long. I recommend using 200-300 ly and 300-400 systems, it gives the best results routing-wise.

Every system in the route is unpopulated and has at least one Earth-like world (ELW) or Terrafofmable Water world (TWW). If present, Terraformable High Metal Content worlds (HMC) in those systems are also included. For each planet, the distance from jump point is indicated in brackets in "Planets" column.

Every time you calculate the route from the same system and with the same "Max distance from start" is is going to be the same sequence, no matter how many systems you requested to be in it. Starting the route from the last system you visited will NOT produce the same sequence.

You can record the systems you visited (see the column "Visited"), the information is saved in a cookie for 60 days since the last click. Clicking on the link for a visited system sets it back to "un-visited". Keep in mind that visited system are simply marked as such, and are NOT excluded from the future route calculations.

System names can be copied to clipboard (the button to the left of system name in "System" column) for easier travel.

You can also produce the route in plain text format, similar to the original, by checking the "Results in plain text" checkbox.

Any suggestions or bug reports are welcome.

Happy scanning!

Data:

The full list of 5,515 systems used to calculate routes is available in JSON format on Google Drive here (850KB). The structure is mostly pretty clear. The following abbreviations were used: "sid" means system id (in eddb), "bid" means body id (in eddb), "dls" means distance in light seconds from jump point, "tp" means planet type, with the following possible values: 26=ELW, 30=HMC, 36=WW.

Producing this list was the most difficult part of the project. You are welcome to use it as you see fit. Please note that although the 1000 ly-area is pretty well explored, it can still be somewhat out of date eventually. However, I don't intend to refresh it any time soon, because it still serves the purpose.

It's really great since the prices went way up, you can actually make pretty good money doing it now.

I was looking at a website today, that had a few different systems were you can make 2-3 million alone scanning one system. One of the systems had 5-6 terraformable planets.

This game really has gotten a lot better in the last year. It used to be the only way to make great money was trading, and now there's a lot of different things you can do. Plus the engineers are so much better now too, as far as what you need for them.

@Carlos thanks for the heads up on that site and video.

This is exactly what I needed. So much so I'm going on a 300LY jaunt in my Type 6. Hopefully is will increase my explorer rank enough to unlock the Engineer who is looking for someone at Scout or above. Also another Engineer is looking for someone who has traveled over 300LY away from their homeworld.

So my loadout on the Type 6 is as follows:

Edit

Well I'm back home before the Space Jitters kick in. Covered my 300LY but the Engineer hasn't unlocked to the next task!!

Hmmm she's a bit picky.

However I netted around 20 mil for my round trip.

I've bought plenty of ship skins and kits, never a bobblehead. I didn't realize you can only use them on PC and Mac, not for consoles. :(

That's sad! I imagine those bobbleheads can do harm to the FPS, maybe that's why it is not on console.. I am very glad I play on the pc with the appropriate hardware, wouldn't change it for a thing.

Did some exploring with the help of Road to Riches website and made a few million credits. Bought the Asp Explorer! I stored the Cobra without weapons and scanners and installed them on the Asp. I'll mod the Cobra again after I upgraded the Asp, so I'll do another round soon :D

I really want to keep my Type 6 for lugging around bits n bobs in my local area.

However I really want a deep space ship. High jump range 30+ LY and scanner galore along with extra fuel tanks just in case.

I'm thinking something like this...

[Diamondback Explorer] [+1]
BH: 1C Lightweight Alloy
PP: 4A Power Plant
TH: 4D Thrusters [+1]
FD: 5A Frame Shift Drive [+1]
LS: 3D Life Support [+1]
PD: 4D Power Distributor [+1]
SS: 3A Sensors [+1]
FT: 5C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 32)

4: 4D Shield Generator [+1]
4: 4A Fuel Scoop [+1]
3: 1E Standard Docking Computer [+1]
2: 1C Detailed Surface Scanner
2: 1C Advanced Discovery Scanner

36LY fully laiden isn't too bad.

Bought the Diamondback Exp and fully A rated it. The small decrease in Jump vs better manoeuvrability was not a hard choice.

Try accessing the store through your console. The website version of the store is for PC and Mac only, hence the message you're seeing on that page.

The search for elusive Military grade Alloys continues. I'm in my Cobra MkIII in Junga right now, an anarchy system with at least two factions involved in a civil war (on paper this should fill two of the conditions for finding the alloys in Unidentified Signal Sources). I read some forum instructions, followed them, flew about 200,000ls from the main star, turned around and started heading slowly back. I'm looking for High Grade Emission USS's, only 1 of every 8 signal sources is a HGE and each one is only yielding Proto Light alloys not the Military Grade Alloys I need. Going to try again tonight, hope I have better luck.

If you put some D parts on that DBE, and do just a little bit of work with the engineers, you can get that jump range to 50-55ly. I would highly recommend doing that. You can google "diamondback explorer max jump range engineered loadout", or something to that effect, and see how people are setting them up.

The engineers are well worth messing with, and once you get them maxed out, it's super easy to put a bunch of level 5 modifications on a brand new ship. The material/data requirements are way better than they used to be, and there's really only a few materials/data that are a pain to get now.

Yes, Pharmaceutical Isolators, Military Grade Alloys, Military Capacitors can give you a tough time until you learn were to find them. Data Mined Wake exceptions can also be a little difficult to obtain, you'll need these the for Grade 5 FSD extended range mod. I basically just go to a High Tech system, sit out side the station's fire zone with a Wake scanner and keep scanning wakes until I have enough.

Did some more exploring and I made a little over 40 million credits. There is a pretty large Dutch community on ED so I joined them and made their home my home too, Blaauw City in HIP 87414. Had my Cobra brought over and made it a fighter, it has 5A and 4A parts but still much more potential! Hauling passengers seems to be populair in the community so I bought a Dolphin, I haven't touched it yet but will as soon as I have some time :D

The Dolphin! That's my favourite ship in the whole game. 👍

Spent an hour using EDDB searching for a Cobra MkIV and nada!

All the info on the database was off. No MkIV to be found.

That's weird, I have had no problem finding ships just sometimes a module is not present/sold out.

Maybe look for a station that has been updated recently?

If you are playing ED on PS4 then the Cobra MKIV has not been added. It may or may not be added in the future, there has been no official word from FDEV yet.
