Hi all. Most of the cars in this game are downright rediculously beautiful. However I bought a lamborghini diablo JGTC car from the online dealership and wow it's low res! Some of the sponsors are barely a splodge. I mean lower than ps1! Is it just this car or are there others with such little care? Yes there are a lot of other cars to drive but including this car defies the whole point of the game delay.

Technically the Diablo is ported from GT3 as it wasn't in GT4 but was in the Japanese GT3. It's been 9 years, I know.

It's not just the diablo. Some of the kei cars look bad too. The Berlinette coupe has got bad textures. However, more than half of the standards look acceptable though. 👍

If you ever get the chance, look closely at a Ford Escort Rally Car. It's a disgrace to even be on the PS3, especially when you see the bonnet vents have been drawn on the car rather than being part of the car model.

Hm, take any JGTC non premium supra into the car wash and weep at how the bonnets look:/

Also, the Escudo Pikes Peak old school car, i take it it cant do night races as the headlights dont turn on?

Have a look at the bonnet pins on a Superbird. Standards can show up in Photomode locations on the main menu. When it appeared on mine not only were the bonnet pins flat and drawn on, but they had shadows:crazy:

Awesome, I was really hoping for another thread complaining about standard cars. Now I can sleep peacefully tonight.

I think the headlights are stickers, like a Nascar.

I just selected my Superbird and checked that out, it's disgraceful, in fact the entire car is badly done.

I was suprised how bad some of the standard cars are. Before i got the game, I got the impression they had done some work on these, to make them look acceptable next to the premium cars. But now I have the game and it looks they did nothing only stretch them to make them bigger and all the pixelated fake shadows, blurry sponsors, black jagged outlines around windows and lights are visible in HD.
There are some cars that look ok, but as far as I have seen they are out numbered by the ugly.

I just don't understand how PD ever believed that they would get away with putting last generation console car models on the ps3 and not be heavily critsized for it.

Well its that or just the 230 premiums. Would you rather having them in lower quality or would you rather go without?

Its odd how some of the standards are not bad at all and some have much more obvious flaws. Take the Minolta for example, unless you are looking really closely you'd struggle to to see any obvious flaws. The Beetle RSI is probably the worst look standard i have come across

Ive driven exclusively premium cars for most part because the standard models just put me off. But once I started driving them, they are actually very fun and has a lot more variety than premiums due to the sheer amount of it. I started driving standards more after seeing the 22b pop up in the UCD.

To answer your question, I'd rather have low quality standard cars in the game, mainly because I use the bumper cam when racing and standard vs premium becomes irrelevant in that aspect of the game. My point wasn't coming from a gamers perspective though, I was thinking along the lines of if I worked for or was head of PD and saw how bad some of these cars actually look long before the games release, I'd have second thoughts about including them.

I'd take less poly counts on premiums for better looking standards any day.

In fact. I'd get rid of premiums and standards all together and just find a medium between the two. Take out the uber hi-res cockpits and make a lower poly version for all cars.

Just my opinion.

huge shame, incredible they delivered such a s***, some standard cars are beyond crap, lambo, berlinette, lupo cup car, terrible.

👍👍 considering also that the awesomeness of premium cars is ruined by the shadows.

What I often was wondering about is the question, why PD just took the texture templates of the standard cars and save it in a bigger resolution than in previous titles?

I bet, they have backups of every car texture-templates and could easily increase the resolution.

The Skyline with the GT logo's on - the same as the pace car just withought the light on top, this is a terrible looking car, on the flip side the 370 GT academy car is amazing looking.

Sounds like the hood pins on the Chevelle SS.
