How do they work? Do I really have to race for a full 24 hours? Or for like the Indy 500 do I really have to do 500 laps without stopping?

Yes, but you can save the game and leave it. you cant play any other modes during this but you can stop the game and play COD or Final fantasy. As soon as you re-play youll come back to where you left off.

Okay. Thank you.

The Indy 500 is 200 laps. 500 miles, but 200 laps.

If you're doing them for credits it's not worth it in my opinion. They take a very long time and do not pay out what you expect them to. Seasonal events are way easier to get a lot of credits quickly. If you are doing the endurance races simply to complete your game progress, then go a head and try them. Some people enjoy them; but personally, I don't have the patience.

If you are going to do the endurance races. Have a read of my guide. The link is in my signature

Some of the mid-length races like Indy or the Ring 4-hour do pay a good amount of EXP, enough to at least feel worth it if you need levels. But none seem to pay much cash. There are a few good prize cars mixed among the junk too.

Still, the only real reason to do them is for fun. The rewards aren't too great, and if you're only concerned about completion it's probably not worth it. You should probably leave them until after golding all of the special events. But if they don't bore you, they are the most fun you can have in A-Spec. Of course if that were the case you'd probably be excited to do them already.

Try Grand Valley or Laguna Seca with a car similar to the opponents. If it's not fun, leave the rest until you're really in the mood or have nothing left to "complete."

Gruelling races are just not fun for me. Besides, I don't get a feeling of accomplishment from games... it's just entertainment, or a hobby/pastime. I did the B-spec endurance races already because they don't require me to sit there for hours lapping the same track over and over. I would much rather race online, it's more fun to me. Sometimes I do the same race repeatedly, but only for the purpose of cycling the UCD to find those few last cars I want.

Do the 9hr Tsukuba one first. If your sanity can deal with completing that, the two 24hr races will be a breeze.

9h tsukaba is worse. Way worse. No weather. No time change. Small track. I've done 3 24h races and tsukaba is not even on the radar for me to do..

The 4hr Tsukaba in the mazda drove me to madness, so,so boring. I couldn't imagine the 9hr.

The 9hrs Tsukuba isn't too bad. Get a comparable car you have not tried (in my case high end g37).
Upgrade a little hp. Get every tires available. Run some laps to see which tire gives the closest AI lap (generally 58 in sports medium gives a good fight) Run that for the majority of lap. Try some hot laps in rs (my fastest is 51.3). Then do some laps in comfort tires for amusement. Try beating your laptime in each tire type. Try different pitting strategy. Find out petrol/tire consumption with different driving. Try your hands at drifting. Try overtaking without hitting AI. Self impose drive thru penalty by entering pit lane at more than 80kph.
9 hrs can pass quickly.
You can save anytime you enter pit lane at 60kph and below at the entry.
