Which bspec race is the best for breaking in engines in terms of the most milege and shortest time

Well...

In terms shortest mileage and time it really depends on how fast the car is ;)

For instance:

McLaren F1 -

Top speed: Alot
Time: Short

Fiat 500 -

Top speed: Not too great
Time: Long no matter what it will take along time

It really depends on the car :)

And the kind of track, there is a difference from always being at high revs and revving up and down constantly.

Well which is better for breaking in engines?

I use the Indy race in the Dream Car championship. This allows you to break-in any car. I don't worry about winning, just getting the miles. Indy is 2.5 miles a lap and the race is 22 laps, so I run it 4 quick times at about 20 mins a race.

If breaking in a real fast car, I've even used the Indy Endurance race, but that race can take over 2 hours. It's good for a "set it and forget it" 1 race break-in though. 👍

Revs have nothing to do with break-in, it's just mileage. Approx. 220 miles achieves full break-in on most, if not all cars.

Yes, the Indy event in the dream car championship. But you only need to do it 4 times. It takes roughly an hour to break in a car, and you make some decent $$ in the process.

what happens once its broken in though? I thought when you brake it in, if you do anymore miles it goes down in power

Using oil changes and engine rebuilds, you can keep restoring a car to the max break-in hp until you reach 15K miles. Then after that, power loss starts to become permanent and oil changes/engine rebuilds will never return it to max power.

Eventually, the power loss bottoms out and it will not lose anymore. I think it bottoms out at -5%, IIRC.

If I am reading the forums correctly, the new refresh cards will return a car to zero miles and allow you to again reach max break-in horsepower with an engine rebuild/oil change and start the mileage cycle over again.

What's the big deal with breaking in the engine anyway? Isn't the HP gain 2% or less? Drag racing is the only place I can see this really making any difference. Let me know...

Yes, as an avid dragger, you need any last HP you can pack under your hood. But I'm sure it makes a difference on circuit racing as well...

I've never had to go more than 200 miles before the engine overhaul was available. I usually just do 72 laps in the B-spec Indy 500, regardless of the car.
