Engine swaps/drivetrain swaps?

Even if it's not a planned update for GT6, is this a feature that the team at PD have in mind for GT7?

Has there been any thought whatsoever surrounding this sort of feature?

I hate to mention the 'other game' but this is genuinely the one feature that makes forza more fun. Also more realistic, engine and drivetrain conversions are commonplace now in automotive enthusiast circles, having such a feature in GT would please alot of people.

This is definitely a feature I am looking for in future GT games, and one of the main reasons I will be taking a serious look at some other titles in the fall.

The drivetrain swaps, I really can't see why they aren't possible (at the very least, AWD to RWD should be pretty easy). I really don't see why PD haven't done this already, as it adds a ton of versatility to the game, without the need to add more cars.

As much as I would love to see engine swaps, I have a funny feeling PD are shying away from this, due to their "perfectionist" nature. Not taking a shot here...but due to the complexities of engine swaps (the most obvious being weight differences, as mentioned - also includes engine-bay size, transmission alignment, etc), I could see PD not wanting to offer this, as it wouldn't be "realistic".
Although now that I think about it, after what I saw with hacking/modding in GT5, most of the tuning is extremely unrealistic...

Meh, who knows. I would love to see it, I think it would be a huge step in the right direction for GT, but I can see it not happening because PD.

I don't even see the need for locking it to manufacturers. Full changes are not uncommon in the real world. I have seen minis with Hyabusas, Honda V-tecs, Vauxhall red tops, K-series, CG13's and R1 Turbos. A friend of mine has a MG-B with a VW 1.9 tdi lump. I helped with the fitting of a C18DET to a mk3 VW golf.

I'm not sure how the game will work out which engines for which car probably nothing more fancy then 'current capacity +/- 20% =yes'

This is such a common occurrence. I have pictures of a Subaru powered (old) Beetle, and an LS1 (or whatever it was) in a 240,60, or 80 Z-car. The options are endless. There is no reason for this to be ignored.

For me the most fun when hybriding in GT5 was swapping engines to get better sound and a better power curve. Dropping a proper sounding V8 into the 69' Vette or a VTec into an S15 was a lot of fun. Can't see it happening in the GT series but one can always dream.

Hadn't seen this question here.

Like others, I loved engine swapping cars (realistically) with GT5 hybrids, more so for the sounds if anything else, but also to tune cars up to real world numbers, often in GT fully tuned cars are still significantly underpowered compared to some that are riding around on the streets.

I hate to mention the 'other game' but this is genuinely the one feature that makes forza more fun.
Well, for some. For others it's the bodykit options and Livery Editor. Besides, Forza gets carried away by letting you drivetrain swap almost anything, which while technically possible, would require extensive, and expensive, rework of the car, such as putting an AW drivetrain on a front drive car, which I resorted to with the Acura TSX in F4.

Still drop-in engine swaps are common, drive trains too, though more so for turning AWD cars into RWD for racing leagues. It would be nice to see this in GT7, so why not?

PD most likely won't do engine swaps for the reasons listed above. Weight, Tunning, & Physics would all be off/out of balance. It all comes down to what do you desire more physics/realism or a Arcade type game.... I would rather it be as real as possible a true sim

Now I can possibly see them doing drivetrain swaps in GT 7 but that's all and even if they they did happen to throw in engine swaps it wouldn't be anything crazy and the swaps would restrictied to same brand chassis (Nissan=Nissan/Mazda=Mazda) ect..

To precede this, I HATE GM. But, I have seen two Fiero's with engine swaps. One had a 3.8 supercharged to 300 HP, and the other had a 5.7 V-8.

There are so,so,soooo many options for engine swaps. Why can't we have some of those for the game?

I fully agree and think that @DMacs13 is correct that PD is so precise on cars that they would have to model the entire car to allow it..... And it goes from there.
