i will have to say that the feeling i'm getting from GT5P is similar to the OP. I love GT. I mostly got on board during GT3. i did play GT2, but i really hammered 3. Coudlnt wait till 4. I think 4 is great. But the souring of the mouth started with GT3 i'd have to say. There are just so many times that i get the sinking feeling... "OMG how awesome is this.... wow it has multiplayer.. lets fire it up and play.. select cars.. select track.. WHAT!>!>! i cant select teh track i want to play on". LAN play... go to the massive troulbe of getting 2 consoles, 2 games, 2 TV's... only to find out you cant do LAN split screen (4 players in the game). ANd its also servearly limited. And this is just teh icing on the cake. Poor file management, this game lends itself to massive amounds of replay saves. And guess what? It is a "ONE FOLDER FITS ALL" deal. No sorting/order or anything of any efficiant manner! And while i'm on it... what about a decent reply system? OMG the GRID demo, i could reply with awesome contro. Actual analog FF/RW - frame accurate! *sigh* i could go on.

Now all you teens dont get your nickers in a knot. This is a mature response of feelings i've had, similar to the OP. And i think i'll buy GT5. I'm keen for it (havnt had much time to play GT5P, got S class to still do). I really do feel that the GT series is stagnent. The thing they really need is the things they have really needed for a long time. (pretty much everything other then graphics, i.e. features/depth outside of actual racing).

You could liken it to Call of Duty 4. Thats a great game. A FPS thats "different" then most "Quake/doom" style typical FPS's we always (and only) see these days. And altho IW made this great game. What did they do? They could have made it sooooooooo much bigger (in every sense of the word, even financially for them!) by half-assing the feature depth. severely limited LAN play, no tournement features. limited Split screen play (no custom perk slots). And more...

its just a real shame. SUch great opportunities missed. Makes me wonder what the hell the "beta" testers are doing. If i was one... i'd be the first guy burring up and saying, NO, screaming! "I cant even do proper LAN play on this thing... What the hell.... add this this this and this!" :)

Sure, i coudl site on the other side of the fence and say just how great they have done and wow... look at the graphics. But this isnt 1998, we had game play then and features and depth were developing and moving forward. But now... Gamimg isnt all that revolutionary nowadays (sadly). It has become slightly stagnate aside from the few gems here or there. What happened to "Next Gen" and the "HD Era" ? To me that means more development to our games. or why keep getting teh same things, that just look prettier? Feature Depth (is all i can think of to describe it in breif) is what i crave. Not being so limited and confined to the yesteryear limitations. Want to host a game with 4 player spli screen over the net... AND have other ppl join in? Seems logical. But not many games let you do but one of them points (you go GRAW you good thing ;) )

I have enjoyed GT5P. and i will buy GT5, i'm fairly sure of that. (its what i bought the PS3 for on launch day even). But that doesnt mean i'll be happy if they drop the ball.

I was about to be quick to diss you but I think you're right, we did pay 40$ for a demo, do we get any credit back for buying the full game when it comes out?
Although I'm satisfied, I think you do have the right to be angry after spending 40$ on a DEMO!

Cause I could care less what it takes to make games! That's why! I paid money for it for the freedom to not have to know how to make games, not to go "It's OK, don't put out your best, you just keep half assing it till you feel like making more money off me." I don't care how hard it is to make games, because if you have the audacity to charge for them, than you better be ready to either do it right or deal with angry consumers. If someone complained to the place I worked for that I didn't do my job right, do you think they're going to give them a tour of the plant I work at, and explain "Just how difficult it was for him to do his job." HELL NO! They'll fire my stupid tail, and anyone else who couldn't perform their job to the best of their ability right on the spot, so I don't want to hear it!

The reason they don't do it right is because people are so willing to go "It's OK, keep giving them time, and if they don't fix it then, just keep on waiting..." No, I'm not waiting anymore, fix it and thank God you don't work somewhere like my work place where simple things like a single mistake on a paper or not being able to get the machines working within a time frame doesn't end up with you on the street without a job!

They didnt force you to buy what you believe to be a demo. They never falsely advertised it or anything.....so any complaints such as this is are a bit silly.

Oh, and to the poster above this, COD4 is not a very good example of an FPS that is "different". It's pretty much a Counter Strike clone. There hasn't been an FPS lately that has really done anything radically different, thats why I dont play them very much anymore, because its just becoming a repeat experience.

Oh, and once again, comparing what is essentially a public alpha test to a fully completed game is obviously going to come to the conclusion "GT5P should be like this full finished game!!". Guess what? Thats what GT5 is for.

Why on earth do all you people have such crazy expectations? I never saw anywhere that PD said any of the features you have missed were going to be in the game....so why did you expect them...or more to the point, why are you disappointed they aren't there? Surely you can see why GT5P is not going to have everything you want in it?

I just read through all of this and while I agree, Prologue is simplified in many aspects and online is very basic, I will say that the graphics and physics are a great improvement. I am enjoying this game mostly offline, but occasionally hop online.

Now, my opinion on the game itself is out of the way. I feel the OP has every right in the world to want to take the game back and even decide to not play the full version when it comes out. You will be missed.

However, I feel your frustrations and anger are uncalled for. You are in America, correct? The game has been out in Japan since December, correct? Europe had the game three weeks before we did, correct? You had plenty of chances to have fore-knowledge about what the online mode was like. You had plenty of chances to know what the entire game was like. I know I knew what I was buying and I got exactly what I was expecting. If you did not know ahead of time what you were getting the only person you have to be angry with is yourself.

PD did not lie about what we were getting, no one who had the game lied about what you were getting, nothing was designed to mislead you into buying something you did not want.

It seems to me that someone who is so demanding of what they buy should do a bit more research into things they buy before they buy it.

I think you set your expectations higher than the commonly known truth and got burned by that, not anything that PD did. And now you have given yourself expectations for already announced fixes that you know is not within the announced development schedule.

Feel free to quit on PD and GT, but I think that if you look at who didn't do their job in this consumer/producer relationship you will realize that it wasn't PD.

I think it's beneficial for PD to hear both the positive & negative reviews that GT5P gets. This is what prologue is for, to find out what works and what needs improvements.

When you work on a product for so long, you start to miss little things that someone with fresh eyes and a non-biased opinion won't. Regardless of how much of a perfectionist you are. This applies to all sorts of products (movies, TV shows, documentaries, PSAs, etc.). Having someone tell you what they like & don't like about your product gives you an idea about what can be improved upon and ultimately leads to a better finished product.

"Operating in a vacuum," as PD likes to put it, is not really ideal. As a producer, I like to know what works and what doesn't work. That means seeing what someone else has done, so that you don't make the same mistakes. I also think that outside opinions are invaluable.

I like to think that PD has realized that and GT5p is the catalyst for consumer feedback.
