I know, you guys are probably going to hate this, but I, for one, am tired of the crap...

No, this isn't just about bad drivers or personal issues with the game, this is all about PD's apparent lack of care for their long time GT fans. This is about them sitting around going "How can we make this hood look more colorful and reflective?" instead of saying "How can we make the game better, funner, and more playable?" and I'm just not putting up with it anymore.

I'm not going to sit here and list off all the problems with the game, we all know what they are, but what I am going to say, is this:

I absolutely will not sit around and wait months until fall gets here and PD finishes making a bumper look more "Simulated", PD has until the end of May for me, and if they don't have these issues addressed by then, Prologue is going to be a nice trade in at GameStop, this Logitech wheel is getting sold, and a future purchase of GT5 full is out of the question.

This is just ridiculous. How a game can come out with so many problems some 6 months prior in Japan then release just as buggy elsewhere is beyond me. How it would have been so difficult to include private lobbies and voiced chat? I have no idea. But I will tell you this, I'm tired of these mute matches with random people, 9 times out of 10 aren't worth playing with, mixed in with all the other poor aspects, I just find myself struggling to find an excuse (outside of "So I spent $150 on a wheel") to play this.

I'm sorry, I just have to vent, but I'm 100% completely serious when I say I will not buy GT5 if they haven't got it together at the end of the month. I'm no longer running on PD's time, not when I've put as much time and money into this "Prologue" as I have, considering how the game has caused more frustration than happiness. As far as I'm concerned, if they can't implement these small changes for us players, than I don't have the faith in them to spend another $60 on their work. This whole "Oh the update will be ready, just hang in there!" is over, I don't care about my past experience with Gran Turismo, and I don't care how much of a fan I am, because in all honesty, with as much time and practice they've had, there's just no excuse for failure, and even less excuse for letting down their decades old loyal supporters. I want this game to be perfect so all the naysayers, Forza boys, and others will finally shut it, but it's not looking good.

Get it together now PD, or don't bother doing it at all.

I feel bad for you, but can understand what your going through. The big problem is that all of these issues are fixable, and non issues in other console racing games. PD will do what PD will do. You have to do what you have to do to, if that means not buying GT5 I think your perfectly justified. I will still buy it because I'm a car enthusiast and will completely skip the crappy portions for what I'm looking for in it. I have 3 console to spread out my time so if some games are lacking no biggie, I can go elsewhere. Right now though GT5p is a single player time trial, that's it.

As far as I'm concerned the only problems with GT5:P are related to the online mode which in turn are more to do with the people you get matched to than the network itself. The game itself is amazing away from the online experience. PD have already confirmed private lobbies are on thier way later this year which will go along way to solving the frustration of being matched against people who don't all have the same idea of what rules you should race by. You have to remebmer GT5:P first and foremost is a test bed, it's one heck of a game imo but it is a test bed and it does not and will not include all the features, personalisation and customisation that the full GT5 will offer when it finally launches.

Have fun without your copy of GT5 then. Geez people sometimes, don't realize how difficult it is making games, and dont go on saying you do, cause you wouldn't of made this thread if you did

I just treat GT5P as not having online at all... I don't even use it anymore because its worthless until PD sort it out with private races...

Robin

Cause I could care less what it takes to make games! That's why! I paid money for it for the freedom to not have to know how to make games, not to go "It's OK, don't put out your best, you just keep half assing it till you feel like making more money off me." I don't care how hard it is to make games, because if you have the audacity to charge for them, than you better be ready to either do it right or deal with angry consumers. If someone complained to the place I worked for that I didn't do my job right, do you think they're going to give them a tour of the plant I work at, and explain "Just how difficult it was for him to do his job." HELL NO! They'll fire my stupid tail, and anyone else who couldn't perform their job to the best of their ability right on the spot, so I don't want to hear it!

The reason they don't do it right is because people are so willing to go "It's OK, keep giving them time, and if they don't fix it then, just keep on waiting..." No, I'm not waiting anymore, fix it and thank God you don't work somewhere like my work place where simple things like a single mistake on a paper or not being able to get the machines working within a time frame doesn't end up with you on the street without a job!

I'm curious, you talk about the game having several faults, what exactly are these faults? The only one you actually mention is the way the game matches you to opponents which is something PD have said they are addressing later this year with the introduction of pribvate lobbies, they said they will do it late in the year and that plan hasn't changed, beside which does not negate the fact that GT5:P is an awesome offline game. So what are all the other faults with the game?

Wow.

I definitely can see there are some problems. Why we don't have voice chat and private lobbies is quite a mystery to me. Yet, if I just sign on to www.gtplanet.net and either look to see who's racing and where, or just post where I am going to be racing, I tend to see quite a few GTP tags (or other GT site tags) show up. I've had some incredibly memorable races online, and even made some new friends (greyghost2 one of the latest).

I can't say I completely disagree with your assessment. I can't understand why we have to deal with a lot of what we have to deal with. Yet, I also know what kind of time and effort it takes to make the GT series a reality. Then again, little things like Voice Chat, Private Lobbies, etc... don't take a lot of time and effort to implement, I would think. Hard to say for sure. Although, I'm sure one of our other members will chime in with actual data. :)

I think PD have done a great job with the physics (vastly improved over GT4), and the graphics speak for themselves. For a glorified demo, I think it's a damn fine bit of kit. Unfortunately we'll have to wait till fall to find out if they can deliver on any of their promises (bug fixes, pp tweaks, extra tracks, cars, private lobbies, voice chat, etc...). If they can, I will be quite happy for a while. Although, more cars and tracks would be fantastic, not to mention more race types. However, it's still a demo. We can only hope for so much, realistically.

The reality of the situation is, none of us are going to be happy until GT5 is released. Even then, there will be plenty to bitch about, just like any other game. Thankfully PD is listening to some degree, and some things have been fixed and/or will be in the near future (according to PD). Only time will tell.

;)

Are you serious? I could name them off for you, but its unnecessary. The problems don't ruin the game, they just make it a time trial game instead of a racing game.

Totally agree with the thread starters right to not to play PD's game if he doesn't want to

The big thing for me in the GT series has always been the look and sheer feel of of it, so a dodgy (at the moment) online mode isn't hurting me too much

I've said in several other threads that once private rooms arrives, things will be looking up immensly

I think maybe the thread starter has all his eggs in the GT basket as far as his driving game/sim career (for want of a better word) goes, and his frustration is showing

Try NFS Prostreet for laughs and visceral racing, and making your cars look as you want them to

F1:CE is also fun, and has a good online mode

Try GTR2 on pc too, if your rig is up to it. Great game

Have fun anyway, whatever you do 👍 :D

I do think you are right about PD . But on the other hand. Do you really think by making a post on here about it will change there minds and make them do the update sooner. I dont it is up to you if you sell it and dont bye GT5 when it is here. We all have to get on with it. But we do not moan on here about it get a grip man. What i would say to you is to put Skype on your pc and go online with your mates you will still get a lot of rammers but that is life on gt5p

wow the end of the month huh? thats a small time frame. well seeing as you think its possible for them to program something complex like private lobbies and chat (yea its not as simple as everyone really says it is its quite complex trust me) then im going to ask you to do 5 months worth of your work in 1 month. dont worry, ill wait.

Sorry but, 'if they dont get it fixxed by X i wont buy GT5' But GT5 is meant to have all the features you want? So you wont buy a game because the PROLOGUE (keep in mind its not a full game, hey its half the price of NFSPS which has wayy more bugs and so on.

Not having voice chat isnt a problem, do the drivers in races talk to EACH OTHER, they only talk to their pit crew, and they dont come out complaining they cant talk to the other racers (well maybe after the race sometimes when things are heated). Private lobbies, i agree is something that is needed to make almost any game better online.

I don't have GT5P but from what i know its without doubt a work in progress and thus should be treated like the big demo it is.

I think that a major part of the reason there is no voice chat, private lobbies, etc is because
they are waiting on the other most elusive PS3 update Home.

A bit of advice Joe43302.

Don't sell your wheel. You'll be back

well, i have several racing games, but i keep coming back to gt5p.
They have to be doing something right.

Yes, it lacks some functionality, but the racing is awesome, and last i checked it is a racing game.

I know what you mean. If this were ANY other game and say the GRID people or GTR people would release a $40 product and for it to be missing such simple things that EVERY other racing game has, everyone would be b!tching about it like no tommorow, but because it's PD, somehow they get a break. People should be sending hate mail to them for being so ignorant and not implementing simple online features that EVERY other game has.

I understand that you want everyone else to shut up about Forza being better and so on (trust me, I live in that enviroment and it is anoying) but you don't have to take it out on PD. Yeah, online sucks but it's not like certain games were you have to play online to complete the game (and at this rate I hope the real GT5 won't be like that). If you don't like GT's online features, you could by an XBOX and Forza and sign up for XBOX live. It could be better (I never really tried it.).:indiff: Your lucky that people understand your feeling on this website. Last time someone insulted Gt online (that person said wipeout was better) he was cursed out like hell. If I find the website again I'll post it up here. Maybe there should be a special forum for complaints about Gt's online features because there are way to many threads talking about them. We get the point already!!

Futurehint: Do not put a bunch of time and money into a GT Prologue if you don't like Prologues.

I for one totally agree with the poster on some aspects. A lobby system is a MUST...i have YET to recieve a challenge from anyone racng online, even on the professional races...It gets very boring having the 2nd place car 15-20 seconds behind me.. I'm tired of having guys spin out on the very first corner or people tryng to wreck you just to keep you from winning....the day where i can have a clean race wth people who actually now what they are doing will be a great day indeed....untl then, i'll stick to arcade mode tme trials...

I'll be more than happy to race you at Suzuka, and I can assure you I won't be 10-15 seconds behind. :sly:

From this I gather:

You are a typical modern consumer. You expect to buy things you don't understand, and have them work perfectly (and to your exacting specifications) despite your ignorance. Lucky for you it's just a $40 game, and not a $12,000 Ski-Doo XP snowmobile that consumers beta-tested for BRP this year.

You make purchases without investigating what you are buying. Why not wait a month after the game is released before buying it and an expensive accessory? Then Robin could have told you how bad the game is, and saved you the aggravation.

You and your co-workers have the most demanding employer ever. I build racing engines, these guys want everything perfect (that's horsepower) and they want it done the day before yesterday, so there is time pressure. I've made a few mistakes over the last 10 years. I still have a job. Not everyone is so instantaneously replaceable. What do you do for work?

A short time reading these forums reveals that large numbers of people are enjoying the aspects of the game that you consider to be failures, yet, in your mind, these "issues" are completely real and factual. Do you ignore that which you do not believe?

I don't know dude. Are you this demanding with all the other stuff you buy? Your expectations here seem fantastical, selfish, and ignorant.

not fast enough

I'm not going to buy the excuse this game is just a 'Prologue' so get use to half-baked features. This game has been in development for over 2 years now, and just like what Joe43302 said they are spending all that time making sure the headlights reflect the clouds in the sky instead of adding the simplest of online features that can make the game have astronomical replay value.

Simple things that nearly every game has these days, like the ability to invite someone off your friends list to a game, Smackdown vs Raw had this, Burnout Paradise had this, EVEN Burnout Paradise the demo had the ability to invite friends off your friends list into a game! And the demo had stat tracking! A demo to Burnout Paradise had stat tracking but GT5P online has nothing! You're racing for nothing!

Let's forget online online for a moment. Let's look at the offline gameplay. What do you got? About two dozen pass 15 cars in this many lap missions and another 25 beat this lap time before the timer runs out missions. That's trash! That's not gameplay modes of a sim, even Need For Speed's races are higher up the pecking order then that arcade in the corner of the movie theater trash. Oh theres manufacturer events. Another single race with no point or reward.

There is no real racing in offline mode, and the arcade single races are a joke because there is no tire wear, there is no fuel usage, there is no qualifying so there is no reason to make the races any longer then the amount of time it takes you to pass the 7 cars in front of you from your 8th starting spot.

The offline mode is nothing but hotlapper/time trial paradise, with no real racing.

The 'updates' to the online mode are suppose to keep things fresh, but they only destroy the racing! Let's say you're having a blast with at 700pp Daytona Road for a few weeks. PD comes in, jacks the pp up to 750 so the car you were using no longer handles like it use to or becomes obsolete, and on top of that drops Daytona Road from the professional physics races. This is insane! With the new update the only tracks in professional physics are Suzuka Daytona Oval and High Speed Ring, you gotta be kiddin' me!

PD needs to cut this nonsense out! Quit catering to all the blind casual masses and gives us private rooms and let us pick the track, physics, PP, and # of laps!

And to top it off PD went cheapo on us and made us use our own PS3s as servers instead of providing fast international servers for everyone to use so we don't have to worry about quitters ruinning 20% of our races!

There is no reason for a game to be in development so long yet have bare bones features! Sony and PD beat their chests calling this a 'FULL GAME' and talked down any comments that it was just a demo, so maybe they should start patching it and giving it features of a full game!

We've made online meeting schedules to try and meet up with each other but this is becoming a hassle, many times I see half a dozen GTP members online with many more that I don't have in friends list but they don't feel like racing the race on the schedule so we all end up getting spread out racing lunatics and fall victims to rediculous penalties and other poorly thought out features

I won't be selling the game at the end of of May, but I will retire from behind the wheel at the end of May if PD doesn't get on the ball and make some specific announcments pertaining to when they are going to fix this mess. As I've said this fall is way too late.

If they wait until this fall I hope, NO, I KNOW the only guys left online will be a bunch of dopes playing bumper cars. I hope Yamauchi trys online for once in his life and some tool blows his rear end up in the first corner and sends him into the catch fence so he feels exactly what we've felt for months.

Example of crappy racing and crappy penalties online:

This is PROLOGUE not the full game, online is in beta mode.PD had to come out with something because of all the moaning,so it won't be perfect.

Agree

Big "meh".

It's the OP's right not to play the game if he doesn't want, but at the end of the day, it's only a game, and not worth getting so worked up over. Yes, there are faults, but I'm sure they'll get tackled one by one.

And I don't understand people who get so annoyed over the online mode. So there are bad drivers, nothing you can do. I've been in some pretty hectic races, and a number of races in a row where the same drivers display the same bad driving. The challenge is simply to beat them. If you can't beat them then you're resigning yourself to the fact that you can't beat idiots. Letting them scare you off the online mode is quite sad, really.
