Enthusia - Better Racing Than GT4?

how is the graphics in this game?
i saw the openning videos in a store...
the EVO crashing video was great... but the miata comparison video sucked... looks like ripped off the internet...
so what level is the graphics at? (may be what game can it be compared to?)
 
played it for a bit. better racing than GT4?? i dont know
better game, or even on par with GT4, definitly not.

imo, imo

the feel is not right. i dont feel speed, game looks like an arcade. engine noise is weak.

A little sharper than Toca 2 in my opinion.

This attitude seems to becoming more and more popular on these forums, and it really bothers me. People keep saying over and over that they want the game to limit how somebody plays the game. Your idea would make it much more difficult for some people to enjoy the game, just so you can feel smug and superior to them because you unlocked all the cars and tracks. Some people don't really like the racing stuff, they just want to drive around with as many different cars and on as many different tracks as possible. I mean, what the hell do you care if somebody uses an outclassed car to win a race? I like competitive racing with the AI, so chose to select a competitive car, my roommate likes winning, in fact, likes running into the other cars, and slows down so he can run into them again! What is wrong with that? Does it detract from my enjoyment of the game? Hell no! Because I have the dicsipline to enter the more difficult car and work at it to win. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from entering a competitive or less-than-competitive car. It is your choice. Why do you need an incentive? If you like close racing, that should be incentive enough.

This right here ends the disscussion and i totally agree because im the kind of guy that likes competitive racing but theres times when an AI guy really aggrivates me and i have to slam his side on a hairpin turn at 180mph so he does a nasty slide into the wall then i continue my competetive racing with my road rage gone and im stilll a lil behind but that makes me wanna win even more and most of the time i do, but its those lil things u can do like that in a realistic game that make you appreciate it that much more cus its something that u cant do in real life. im not gonna use a ZZII in sunday cup but why take it away it aint hurting us who dont use ludacris amounts of hp to win instead of skill. So anything restrictive like that only hurts the games novilty and makes it all work, and leaves no time to go back and see if u can beat sunday cup with a Corvette C5R using only first and second gears(TRY IT ITS HARD).
 
I bought Enthusia the third of May, today is the first day that i took it out to play gt4 again...

and I am a big gtfan!

Better racing than gt4? For me yes, because I love the black flag system, whenever there is a gap in a race, I have to carefully consider going for it...In gt4 you just bump the other car of the road...

Hmmm - reading this is the first I heard of this new game - enthusia. Sounds like it could be a good game. But looking at screen shots (I know that’s not really anyway of judging a game but hey...) and it does look like a 'game' there seems to be too much emphasis on colours. Sounds odd I know but that is something all of the GT series have done so well is accurately display the cars the colours of the tires, wheels, badges, exhausts etc... Just fit where as in enthusia they stick out some what with the tires being the blackest of black, the wheels, badges and exhaust being the shiniest of slivers. These shouldn’t be things you actively notice since you expect a car to have all these parts. Damn ive made a mess of this thread!! I know what im saying I doubt many of the rest of you will. And anyway, i like driving games, this sounds like a half decent one, so ill finish a bit more of GT4 and then buy Enthusia. What a confusing post. Sorry.
 
I've read some reactions about Enthusia in this thread, but actually none which answered my questions I still have. I'm doubting to buy this game.

Can anyone give an opinion on Enthusia? I've played the demo whcich was with the OPM2 magazine, but demos are too short to really be able to judge such a game.

How's the black flag system working for example? When I played the demo, I went off the track with only one wheel, and got a black flag already. If that's in the main game too, it'll give me lots of hard times. :scared: With one wheel on the grass must be possible, that's driving on the edge.

And what's the racing like?
Think the Enthu points system is great.

And what's the AI really like? I've read in this thread that the AI isn't good, have read that in the reviews too. So, what's the AI like? Is it better than GT4? (Actually it's impossible to not be better than GT4 AI wise)

And yes, one wheel in the grass is a black flag...Rumble strips are ok though!

The -free- racing is mainly based on equal opposition, based on your choice of car. On the easy cicuits it is easy to get in the lead, on twisty courses it is a lot harder though. Mainly becasue you have to be careful not to hit them when you are fighting for the lead. Like in real racing you have to analyse the leader for a lap or two and then decide where it is safest to pass.

In enthusia life mode, you have a car yourself and can check the competition before you enter a race. Races are displayed with an odd system, in the higher classes you have to race against better opposition and have to deceide yourself if ;1 the cars tuning level is good enough and 2 if the circuits will suit your car. If the competition gets to good (better hp for instance) you have to start switching your car for a better one (and start winning races to increase the tuning level of the car)

The game is worth its money, but do not expect it to replace gt4. It is like food; sometimes you want chinese, sometimes you want pizza which is also very tasty
 
I just rented Enthusia yesterday, and I have to say that SUCKS, it is a poor copy of GT4 and also I cannot drive with the D-pad, I've been playing car games since my AMSTRAD CPC, and I am used to drive with the directional pad, just for this I played it for 5 minutes and returned to the store. I think no cargame will ever beat Gran turismo. Keep workin Konami.
 
I quite like Enthusia. The (what is effectively) Momentum of the car (shown on a gauge) means you can't do too many violent manouevres without losing control of the vehicle. I have yet to give it a serious amount of time to see how it progresses when you get faster cars.

The old GT4 pain of the AI hitting you and you getting penalised is there.

The menu system in places seems to be unnecessarily complicated.

Nice selection of older cars... I have seen the old Cooper S, MGB and Frogeye Sprite so far. I am currently using the old Mazda Cosmo and I have "levelled up".
 
I would prefer A-Spec points to remain they way they are. I believe they do provide replayability.

They even result in the desire to start the game from scratch again with the whole objective being to max them from the start.

The suggestions in the first post make the game too difficult for some.

The changes like listing the cars you own that are eligible for the race are good but game play I say leave as is. I like it.

Yes, Enthusia is looking all the more promising every update. It seems it will capture the more hard-core racing simulators. Keeping cars equally matched allows for a more challenging and realistic race experience. It looks like Enthusia may be trying to emulate this. I like that damage can be done to the extent of ending a race and being penalized for hitting other cars, hopefully shortcutting through chicanes will be penalized too.

There is no damage system in Enthusia. Its called and Enthu point meter and yes you lose points for hitting other cars, going off track and hitting the wall. However it works strictly as a way to earn more points at the end of a race. It does not however stop the race if you lose the entire meter. I have the game have lost the entire meter and was still racing the only consequence was not getting as many points at the end of the race. Also the prize system is totally random you may unlock a car you want, you may unlock a car that is total crap, you may unlock no cars at all. The system works like a lottery at the end of the race. You see a list of your competitors and the game highlights each of them. You hit X and the bar slows down until it stops either on a car or not on screen at all. Where it stops is what you unlock for winning.

On a better note, the handling system for Enthusia seems a lot more realistic. Older cars have no TCS, ASM, or ABS and handle as such. If you are looking for a greater challenge than Forza or GT4, try Enthusia. It's mindblowing hard because everyone is evenly matched.

P.S. You unlock a car regardless of if you get first place or not.

There is a demo now on an official ps2 mag, From what i have heard so far the handling isnt very good?

The handling is realistic because cars like a Jag E-Type don't have TCS and ASM in real life nor do they in the game; thus making handling more true to life

Enthusia will be the crappest rip off piddle take of GT4 ever. Only poor tramps with limp-wrist problems will buy it over GT4
