Possible release date in May 2005.
That's what the salesman at EB Games in Montreal told me yesterday, after checking the releases database, when I purchased my preordered copy of GT4.

When a publisher releases a specific date in a press release, 95% of the time that is when the game will hit.

When the salesman mentioned may 2005, I didn't pay any attention because the last time I visited Konami website Enthusia release date was sheduled for spring 2005 . But now I just visited their website and they mention a Summer release date.
Oh well, video game release date is like the Dow Jones index : it changes every day.

Apology for the misinformation.

No, you were right but its been long time confirmed from the following press release:

KONAMI ANNOUNCES U.S. RELEASE DATE FOR ITS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DRIVING SIMULATION
ENTHUSIA™ - PROFESSIONAL RACING

Special Enthusia Demo Playable At The Ford Motor Company Booth At The 2005 Chicago And New York Auto Shows

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - February 16, 2005 - Konami Digital Entertainment – America, a division of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced that Enthusia™ - Professional Racing - will be released exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system nationwide on Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Featuring true-to-life physics, groundbreaking gameplay mechanics, and pixel-perfect graphics, Enthusia is the most authentic driving experience for auto Enthusiasts of all ages.

Players will get a chance to experience the thrill of Enthusia before it ships when the game makes its first public appearances at the Ford Motor Company booth at the Chicago Auto Show on February 11-20 at McCormick Place and at the New York Auto Show on March 25-April 3 at the Jakob K. Javits Convention Center. Three game kiosks will be on display, each loaded with a special playable demo of Enthusia created especially for the Ford Motor Company exhibits. The demo features the 2005 Ford Mustang GT and the 2005 Ford GT -- just two of the hundreds of automobiles from more than 50 of the world’s top auto manufacturers that will be included in the final version of the game. Show attendees will have a chance to put these two stunning, high-performance vehicles through their paces and see why Enthusia is the most realistic driving experience on a video game console.

Enthusia steps away from the norm in the racing genre, opting to focus on driving rather than the time spent “under the hood.” Winning will require superior driving ability, establishing Enthusia as a true simulation for driving Enthusiasts who appreciate the details of car physics, performance and motion. The realism of the game is bolstered by the innovative and proprietary Visual Gravity System, which conveys a true sense of G-forces experienced by high-speed driving and maneuvering around a race track. This innovative feature is a first for a driving game and gives gamers the ability to see and “feel” the pressure exerted on a car.

Enthusia will be rated “E” for Everyone by the ESRB.

Publishers wont release an exact day of shipment if they are not certain that is the date it will be released. Otherwise they usually uses seasons or months as placeholders on their scheduals.

The press release is from the 16th Feb., and it talks about a demo in the Chicago Auto Show - February 11 to 20.

Did anyone find news/reviews about the Chicago Auto Show demo? If indeed there was a demo there?

Hey check out www.konami.com/enthusia for the latest tracks and pictures (updated yesterday). Looks awsome : I saw a Bugatti EB 110 and 3 new tracks : San Francisco, Key West (?), and a japanese city (Tokyo?)....

This is looking more awesome all the time:tup:

Still no solid released date?

Looking at the track info on the Enthusia site, 'Ocean Bridge' seems interesting. It appears to be a very long (endless?) straight

Well, although it is not mentioned on the homepage I guess it is in March (Japan).
I played the game last August and the 7 or 8 tracks I played, looked really finished and polished at that time without any slowdowns or grafic bugs , so I guess that they can keep the release date.

Concerning ocean's bridge : I think it is a great idea to put that drag/high speed track into a beautiful water-holiday atmosphere.... I like it and I can't wait to hold my japanese copy in hands....

i dont see whats wrong with my question. if the game is as good as i think it is, i'd rather play a back up just incase i damage the orginal. am i not allowed to make a backup of a game i already purchased?? :scared:

Why dont you just buy the game then back it up instead of asking stupid questions like that. And we are not stupid. We do know what you really mean.

Geez GT4 is good and I dont want to damage it, but since it cant be backed up I wont play it.

dont want to argue. i dont want to pay 60$ for a game when i can pay 15$ for a copied disc. there are some exceptions (such as GT4, final fantasy series - personal favorite, etc.) to what games i will pay retail for.

im not gonna lie. i guess you guys here have different morals than me.

now someone's gonna tell me not to download music right?

i guess when discussing about something nobody knows much about, topics start to run out. then people start to look for other excuses to start an argument. 💡

Go away you ****ing pirate. Having anything copywritten without the permision of the owner is wrong and quit trying to promote piracy on this board. No one wants to hear it. You are what is wrong with society. 👎

Since you got the chance to play Enthusia, could you compare it to GT4 in terms of gameplay, sense of speed, and just how realistic the game is in general? How good is the physics? lets us know... thanks.

Good, so you looks like a qualified person to answer my biggest question about Enthusia:
Is there any decent view from the cockpit or from the hood while racing ?
tia

Hmm, there was no cockpit view and no hood perspective ( not 100% sure though, was some time ago)... But that was half a year ago, perhaps they have already added a hood perspective ...

Great game with cockpit view : Battle Gear 3 (japanese import), a real Touge classic with fabulous gameplay ( but arcadish).....

i have to say, enthusia is capturing my heart by the minute. i'm kinda disapointed with GT4 and i guess enthusia is gonna void the gap. in the mean time i'll play the crapy GT4. ok.... maybe i'm being too harsh. i'll just call it the game that did not live up to my expectations. sorry

man, gt4 is still an awsome game. sure the physics arent as realistic as i'd like, but those are blasphemous words you just typed, on a forum that is built for the gran turismo series. I'm deffinatly buying Enthusia. but gt4 is not Crap. I'm looking forward to Enthusia's physics. I hope the tracks are as well modeled as gt4, especially the nurburgring.

where do i start, the autosave mode is crappy(and yes i know you can turn it off)
the music, oh my G O D, gt2 was the only one with good soundtracks. engine noise is the most annoying(is that the way rally cars sound). what else, the physics are way off, ok mabe not but i was expecting a lot more.
excuse my harsh crtisicm, but gt4 could have been a lot more than what we have on hand. and i beleive the game was rushed to stores eventhough it have been so long in development, case and point the lines that show up on the screen while racing, the game is good but..........not good enough. sorry, but i think this is the beggining of the end for the gt series.

Well, music, I mean who cares, run a stereo in the background if you want music; the first thing Ido in every (realistic) racing game is turning off the music. The engine sound is
ok, depends on the car, the physics of GT are really good, not "way off". My problem with Gt4 is only one thing : it is too easy, I got bored soon, I can enter almost every race with a 900 ps car, no challenge.... then again, who cares about autosave? if you win you win, if you lose you lose, the game is easy enough that buying the wrong car is no problem either...
So I think you just wanted too much... try to avoid the hype that generates itself on forums like this one... especially on the same system (Ps2) there will always be evolution and no revolution....

If you CAN enter every race with a 900-hp car, it doesn't mean that you SHOULD.
It's not a big deal to set some constraints yourself, some would even claim it's better to have the choice for yourself.

My US version has not arrived and I have not seen if it was confirmed but from what I understood, GT4 for US and PAL was suppose to display horsepower raitings the AI cars to help you judge just how competitive your car would be in the race. If these stats where available then he arguement would be without merrit but if they are not I can understand the frustration.

How bout getting back on topic??????? --> ENTHUSIA!

I'll ask it again...

it tells you the horsepower and the weight of the cars you race against and you can even add ballast weight to your car. :) so i guess if you really wanna be realistic you could add your own weight as ballast weight. :dopey:
