Back to enthusia.

The official site has been updated!

They have there a demo of the car-search engine (you'll need the macromedia flash plug in). You can see and select up to 150 cars.

btw, the Bugatti isn't a Bugatti, it is a Dauer (?). I guess this is the same as the "RUF" thingy in Gran Turismo (and Enthusia also) to allow us to drive "Porsches"

Another thing I noticed is that we'll have both the 3003 and the 2004 Team Goh R8's.

Another nice news is a old Pontiac Firebird. I always liked that car, don't really know why.

Check it out!

Ok, what's with this mess? E-brake drift techniques? Man, I'm sure that's not the only way to drift if the physics are as accurate as they say, but still. Ebrake drifts?

The new tracks look great, and the car selection is just right for me... I'm really looking forward...
@ Swift : e-brake, yes why not ? I mean that is the way to drift in a hairpin curve, yeah if I have a 900 hp Supra I can just drift with the right foot, but as it is a licence test you have a preselected car, I guess....

Well, being a "drifter" myself. Thinking of using the ebrake just makes me uncomfortable. Now, there are times when the ebrake can be a useful tool. But generally speaking, it's not needed to drift. Nor do you need incredible amounts of HP. I drift my 249hp S13 around hairpins without using the ebrake.

First, I think we talk about the same picture : The night time touge hairpin with the commentary like " Use your ebrake skills" . I think you HAVE to use it here in order to pass the test, I don't know which car you have to use, maybe also a FF car... Ok
you don't need ebrake, I mean with the FR Silvia, a real drift car, not at all, but again take my Sti, with its 4WD grip and a little understeer tendency you'd have to be really fast, scary fast and then you'd have to hit the clutch probably, looking at the picture ebrake would not be the badest solution for the STi here ... Hmm coming back to gameplay, I used the ebrake a lot in the Kaido Battle games and it was fun, and that's what it is all about, isn't it? ( Ok I know that Kaido Battle is not really a 100% simulation game, but...)

IRL with most cars, drifting hairpins without using the HB is a bit more difficult. Just keep in mind that is probably a tutorial for noobs who arent used to drifting. Just like in other racing games where they reccomend using the handbreak for hairpins. 👍

Dont jump to conclusions just yet :)

Don't quote me on this, but This "faux" bugatti is along the lines of this:

The VAG (VW+Audi+...) bought the "rights" to the name Bugatti in the late 90's, but not the italian factory where the EB110 was built after is went bankrupt (that's why they are building/have built one in France, where the original Bugattis were built)... That's why this "new" Bugatti don't care less for the EB110...

What about the Dauer Connection? Well, I think Jochen Dauer bought the rights of the EB110 and made the Edonis Supercar out of it (again, don't quote me on this)...

Please don't get Ruf and Porsche mixed up. They're completely different.

ahh well not so different, it is a tuned Porsche, yeah I know that a Ruf is a Ruf and not a tuned Porsche by definition, but the basis is a Porsche : engine, chassis, all interior etc etc are Porsche, the engine is tuned and modified as well as some chassis parts... it is a heavily modified Porsche....not a complete new car...

I'm not going to comment on that.

And only say this. The only thing from Porsche is an unmarked Porsche Chassis. Everything else on a Ruf is Ruf made.

What are you talking about : I even live in the same part of Germany as RUF, 1 hour by car from here ....

I could go on for hours... The interior is a little modified as well as the exterior, the PORSCHE engine is tuned (sometimes heavily)... and then you have the Ruf parts :
mufflers, brakes etc...
Yeah they are so heavily modified that it is called a Ruf and not a tuned Porsche, never the less, it remains a tuned Porsche....

Get your info first, before you make such statements....

sorry for being offtopic, but I had to make that clear

there was another threads specificly discussing the differences between RUF and porsche and how they are almost completely different car manufacturers on their own. SEARCH and take the arguement there. 👍

I just got the demo today. It's an OK game, but I don't think I'll buy it. The main reason? The stupid DS2 controls. I HATE using the analog stick to steer the car, and that's the only way to control the cars. Also, the graphics are OK, but nothing really mind blowing. However, the rain course was  , gorgeous! The cars aren't more realistic looking than GT4's. But, they do look pretty good. I guess I'm too spoiled from GT4 to appreciate the graphic quality. The car sounds are great, but it's really obvious that they were the "overall" sound of the particular car. In other means, it sounded like the cars were recorded from a distant microphone. The sound is great, but seems a little out of place. But, I do like it.

Now for the good. The cars move more like real cars compared to GT4. Which to my belief is a down right shame. The car movements in GT4, while using the DS2, is gimickie and jerkie, compared to the car movements in Enthusia. That's a good thing. Not only do they move more like real cars, they also handle more like real cars, which I feel is a lot better than how the cars in GT4 handle. I also noticed the speed is a lot slower. I felt the sense of speed of GT4 was a little too fast, but people say the speed is very accurate. This is neither better or worse; just different. But one really annoying thing about going fast in Enthusia is the stupid-looking 'motion blur' that accurs around the edge of the game window when driving very fast. That, I can do without.

Overall, the graphics are more simple than GT4's. This gives it a more 'arcade' feel to the game, even though it has more of a true simulation quality to it compared to GT4 in certain ways. It was just an OK game. It's defenitely no 'GT4 Killer,' but it is what it is. An OK car racing game.

I take it you don't have a dfp?

I don't remember to button, but the blur could be turned off. I just started hitting buttons while driving and got the motion blur and the black frame off the screen.

Anyone noticed Lancer Evo V Tommi M Edition in one of trailers? It's not in cars search engine so the list might not be complete..
