OMG I saw this story and it pisses me off yet makes me want to be super rich as well. I'm sure the guy is a drug dealer or used it in a murder because those are literally the only reasons to dump your car. Normally I would say insurance fraud, but I doubt they get a lot of stolen Enzo's than later find random ones lol.

Read the first page. It's all to do with the bankruptcy laws over there.

Exactly what I was thinking, a government auction should occur soon. What's the Blue Book value on a sandblasted Ferrari hypercar, anyone?

Even if it doesn't drive anymore...it'd make an awesome sim racing rig. :p

Re-opened due to interest.

It's because they're almost all broke, and Dubai is now a paper town in a dusty desert. And the ones that can dispose of them, will dispose of them any way they wish, because they can afford it, and we can't.

My question is of the cars that are seemingly dumped literally on the side of the road, in a ditch or next to trash bins what actually happens to them? Do they get picked up by local authorities to auction like they do here in the US? Do they get stolen/stripped? Do they get crushed?

lets keep the interest:

There seems to be an alarming number of Rolls Royces... with all that sand, an abadoned car in Dubai is unmistakable. It gives them quite a sad appearance.

You're not cool in Dubai unless you have an expensive car and let it go to waste. You just one day find a nice empty but public place, get out of your cars and just walk away never ever daring to turn your back cause if you do you lose!!! Also you can't cry as you do it

I don't know why anybody hasn't set up a business where they find these cars, buy them off of whoever is the owner, rebuild them to dealer status, and then resell them.

I still don't understand why they dump them. I'm sure you could sell the car and it would be a better option. Also they don't sell that many of these sports cars especially the Enzo couldn't they just be like this was number 136 it belong to Akmed.

Because they don't want to wait around for the car to sell, they have to leave before they are arrested and thrown in debtor prisons.

...before they are arrested and thrown in debtor prisons.

You've given me an awesome idea for solving America's unemployment and overpopulation problem: If you owe more than two years of wages on your credit cards, then welcome to the klink, ya greedy sponge.

Lol so there's that many rich criminals there

I would actually be completely cool with that kind of bankruptcy plan here. Couple months in jail > years of payments.

Perfect Balance

That's actually why they don't do that here because I promise you the prisons would be filled. Government would have to not only pay your debt, but also pay your time in jail, all the guards, food, so it's not worth it at all. The way it is now is you pay until your poor and they only get paid with no money loss. Just they way they like it.

No respect...

This and this. Rich people know **** about car manufacturer's pride and honour and shouldn't be allowed to buy such cars.

Especially considering now that people were CHOSEN by Ferrari themselfes to be worthy of an Enzo, I guess the money was too tempting eventuelly eh Ferrari?

Choosenish. You just needed to have bought a few Ferrari's before pretty much so they don't look stupid when they called you and said do you want to spend a million on a car and not have the response no way can I afford that.

We don't even know if this Enzo's owner even bought it from Ferrari, the Enzo is almost 10 years old now, it could have had more than 1 owner.

maybe this guy is ballin and brought a new instead?

either way how can anyone have the heart to do this??

I have a solution to this problem.

Rich guy is fleeing the country, has to leave his Enzo behind.
Sees a passer-by.
"Hey, would you like a Ferrari Enzo?"
"...Um...What?"
"There you go" *Throws keys at passer-by. Runs*
*Passer-by stares at Enzo* "Hol. Ly. 🤬."

Then passerby speeds in his new Enzo. Police pulls him over. Checks for the car's registration etc etc. Passerby doesn't own any of it as the car was never his. Courts convict him of stealing (they don't believe that a million dollar car was just given to him), and he gets his hands cut off (do Arabs still cut off hands for stealing?)

I think they just stone your hands, like they get a group of people and starting throwing nices smooth yet jagged rocks at your hands. This while the rest of your body looks on glad that it hasn't the function those hands once did. <- Obvious sarcasm
