Ever got cocky and lost embarrassingly because of it?

Sometimes I like to spin out just before I hit the finish. Once I spun out only to realize I had one more lap to go. :banghead:
 
I alway spin out when I am about to cross the finish line (using handbrake) online just to show off. :lol:
. . . And yes it has cost me races online alot (thinking I was on final lap)

I've learned my lesson and don't do that anymore, lol. I guess I haven't since now I'll start to drift some corners towards the end of races, only to lose because of this, lol.
 
Yep. I was so far ahead in a NASCAR race I decided to see what will happen if I tried to drift it. Then I remembered that NASCARs are tanks. :scared:
 
I was on the last corner of the last lap, and I pulled the handbrake to do a powerslide around it, only to have my rear wheel touch the grass, next thing I know I'm spinning out.

Haha, I did the same thing in a clio cup race on FM3 when I was in a racing league!
I was leading on Silverstone, it was the end of the second lap and I pulled a naughty handbrake turn over the line and watched everyone shoot past me laughing their arses off :lol:
Turned out it was a three lap race...

Took a while to live that one down, but I got by with reminding them that I was kicking their collective arse at the time..
 
If I was winning by enough I used to stop and do donuts on grid ,I can't remember ever losing by doing it though :D
 
Yep, last night........ twice :dopey::dopey:

Gt series, in extreme, no aids, leading by a few secs, comfortable.....on Suzuka, power on oversteer coming onto the main straight, into fence, finish 4th, then on Tokyo same thing turn 5.....but finish 5th:ouch:

Sharp as a bowling ball late at night!!!
 
Was playing online a couple of days ago.Nurgburgring GP. Everyone on the Maserati Gran Tursimo with sport softs. The race was 5 laps long, and I got sent off track in the first corner.

I started fooling around, powersliding through every corner, always gaining time on the first place (guess he missed his racing softs). In the last lap I'm tailgating the guy in the straight, and overtake flamboyantly on the inside of the 3rd corner(smoke everywhere, and the crowd goes wild, etc).

After 5 laps going sideways the car's tires were gone, and I spun out in the back straight before the chicane, and then in the chicane, and then in the last corner.

Ended up last.
 
Racing Nordschelife earlier today online, I win the race and tell everyone "Good racing". This guy responds and calls me "Junior" because he thinks he should have won. So anyway on the next race I was winning and lost it on one corner, so he took the lead, mouthing me. I was fine to take 2nd place, but after the long straight he went into the last section too fast and lost it. I took the lead and won the race by .200 or so. I couldn't resist commenting on his lack of focus, and I just had to call him "Dad".

Sometimes I like to honk the horn as I come down the front straight across the finish line, but occasionally my thumb will slip off the steering and I'll end up out of control and lose. Not too often, but it hurts when it happens!:ouch:

Also, I like to drive forward looking a the nose of my car to admire it sometimes which usually results in my car meeting the wall unless I'm going straight... but I don't do this if I know cars could pass me!

I have done this a lot too offline, split screen but I'm sure I'll continue the grand tradition online :)

Also IRL I used to do some quad bike racing, but had never won a race. One day everthing just clicked and i actually lapped every one in my heat, as I came around the 2nd two last corners (a sweeping S pair requiring transferring the body from one side of the quad to the other) all my mates were cheering and shouting. I made the dumb mistake of waving. This led to me immediatley high siding the quad bike, flinging me face first into a mud bank, half a second later the quad landed on my head & upper body.

EDIT: I still managed to creep the bike over the line to win the heat.

I put two teeth through my lip and broke my hand!! I still tried to race in the next heat, but needless to say I couldn't really handle hanging off the quad, it was agony!!



It took a long time for people to forget that - they actually gave me a trophy for crash of the year - a nut & bolt through a fake marble base. I still have it ina box somewhere :dopey:

One time, I hit the handbrake way too early and the car actually stopped a few feet before the finish line. I finished last. ^_^
 
On the Madrid track I Once took my hand off the steeringwheel when I thougt I was going to cross the finish, but it was further ahead behind a last corner. I slamed in to the wall at full speed and thought what... oh ****!
And this has happend a couple times when I thought I was on the last lap, witch I apperently was'nt.
 
I dont know if it's considered cocky or not but sometimes when I see I'm a lot faster than other online I slow down and go behind them and try to follow them the closest I can without hitting them and try to pass them on one of the last part where I can overtake. Sometimes i fail miserably but I still had fun so I dont really care.

Dont get me wrong I dont like to loose but if the competition is not even close to me I prefer to have a good fun race than running time attack lap alone ahead.
 
I once spun out right before the finish line, only i didn't cross, and then as i scrambled to get back, the AI flew by me right as i was about to cross...

...All in the Sunday Cup...
 
JUST lost at Trial Mountain in my DB9 because I tried to get some air on the last turn and flipped it...:banghead:
 
Not really cocky but in the Daytona race in the supercar festival I was in 2nd about to overtake right at the line but he flipped me and I finished 7th on my roof.

lol. That would suck big time. The worst that happens to me is I spin out on the last corner or slam into a barrier near the end. I think my tires start to wear and I don't compensate for my aggressive driving to push to the end.
 
I once tired crossing the finish line in reverse even when I had a pretty good lead but I ended up getting passed at the last second.

I just laugh and restarted.
