You'll need to help me here.

Why does the Audi R8 cannot be tweaked like that, even though it is 4WD QUATTRO?
This leads me to assume that PD did put this tweak on live dynamics to cars that actually could achieve a torque split change while driving.

So overall I can't really agree that it's cheating, as the GTR can be suited to anyone's driving style with a simple change in the torque split in real life and in the game.

So every car in GT has brake bias that can be adjusted in real time?

Note that I'm referring to the torque split, not the brake bias.

But can you actually set the torque split in the real life GT-R in 5-%-steps, or is there just a general system allowing different overall settings. And if there are real life systems in the game, why is there no Manettino on the F430? So either we have all systems the way they are in real life for every car, or we have no tweaks in a race that is about having no tweaks.

Looks like it, yes.

It's a Japanese game:)

I have the same complaints as you do really regarding the overall fairness of the different features in the cars we have. It's kind of obvious PD still puts more time into Japanese cars i.e. GTR, EVO X, etc.

However in this case, considering the F430 is supposedly set at RACE, I would think it is fair, but for sure I can see your point.

You say they are the perfect match, and I'm totally with you. But then there's a setting in the RA menu for the GT-R (power distribution) that gives you a clear advantage over the stock car. As the F430 being RWD, it of course has no such setting. So in the end, the GT-R gains an advantage through RA that it shouldn't have in this race, because the two cars were chosen to be equally fast when stock.

Well, I don't think the GTR has an advantage over the F430 because of F/R distribution, it has a slight advantage in handling yes, but the F430 is faster on the straight. :trouble:
Try to see my point: I don't want to drive a 5/5 brake and the F/R distribution is only a personal preference aswell imo. I get that this may be an advantage over people just not knowing RA, but hey some don't even know their cars have brakes:sly: Anyway a race without RA would just be another no go for me, its the very core of Specll and i was so happy about it when I saw it 1st.

Boys, don't fight over nothing, as we all know that the new NSX will beat the crap out of the GTR and the F430 together LOL

OK, I wasn't speaking to you, if I were I would have quoted you

Now, I in previous GT games you cannot adjust the brake bias unless you buy a brake balance controller, so all the car's in GT5P have one equipped I guess.

Same thing with Traction Control, it's not adjustable on every car.

Now if PD only made things adjustable in real time on cars that are adjustable on it in real time in real life then OK, but the current system is far from realistic and fair.

PD's philosophy has always been "one size fits all".

It's like when they assumed every engine in the world was fuel injected. Fuel injection cuts in prewar cars? I don't think so :dopey:

Look's like I opened a can of worms here. But I don't regret using the livetune. Some say that it is a unfair advantage. If this is the case then wheels should not be allowed due to the fact not everyone has one. Now we all know how silly that sounds, the point I'm making is that all racers look for a edge over the competition. Even in races that run 1 kind of car, ie IROC, they were allowed to tune to the drivers liking. Do I feel that I have a big advantage over others? Not really, I have just made the GT-R more comfortable to drive for me. But I can see the other sides point also, that is why I started this thread.:)

I really don't think the Ferrari is set to race mode - the shifts are as slow as wet weeks compared to the GTR and the rear-end squirrels around a lot.

And kart racer, by making a car more 'comfortable' to drive, you are in essence making it easier to drive, whilst others live with the nuances and pitfalls. That is classified as an advantage is it not?

But then again, everyone can do likewise, so no need to complain.

BTW Earth, who were you speaking to?

Drive in cockpit view, you'll see a big RACE on your display.

well...well..well, just tried this, and i don't like, maybe it's my poor driving but i prefer the standard set-up, maybe with some practice might change my mind, but seen as i go away tomorrow, sticking what works ok for me. As for is it fair, i think yes, think its pretty obvious that a one on one would always prove the F430 would come out on top, maybe this is for those in the know to equal that difference between cars, not really bothered, i race to have fun wether im slower or faster(not often)...hope to still see people on track and hoping PD can come up with more of these one model vrs one model

Yes, it is a little easier to drive to a point. It helps improve the forward bite, but you pickup a push in the corner. I like the payoff as I can get clear of the first turn pileup.:)

cashwars, I have raced with you and your driving skills are up there, I just have a different style.

Thanks
question, last race was you brake checking me before spoon? Cannot understand why the F430 would need to brake so early?

First time using the F430. Not use to the brakes. sorry:):dopey:

i had a funny feeling that was the case, glad to see you back in the GTR for the next race, even though you had a "brain fart" and threw away you 3rd position a the time

Just because the incar dashboard has "RACE" written on it doesn't mean that the physics are set to race mode.

Doesn't anyone think the shifts on the Ferrari are slow?

I finally saw someone use this start method, and WOW they launch fast!

I'm assuming your talking about the GT-R? I used to be one of the quickest racers on here on Fuji back when we had a 700pp race on that track.

My key was to go 45/55 ratio, TCS 0, and I would drop the final gear ratio to around where my max speed would be around 200mph. But I also had R3/R3 tires to work with, so the GT-R caught traction very quickly and I was usually from 11th to 1st by the first turn.

The most fun was losing traction while turning into turns, but the GT-R would not let the rear loose, so you would lose traction on all four wheels and still be turning. :dopey:

Yes, tried the F430 for the first time today in the F430 v GT-R and was having difficulty with the shift speed.

I think the 45/55 power distribution unleashes some kind of glitch in the game with the GT-R. I noticed that it accelerates like there's no tomorrow at the start in 1st gear and in 2nd out of corners. When you come out of the hairpin and the final chicane in 2nd, you first have normal grip, but as the revs climb, you ever so often get wheelspin due to reaching the sweet spot of the engine. And it feels like the car suddenly found a heap of hp more, you just slingshot out of that corner. Same happens at the start.

I think that this car accelerates faster with wheelspin than without at this setting. Can someone please try this and share his experiences?

And it seems to work with just this setting. A little above or below and no sweet spot.

I think it a bit funny that drivers think that PD would not put in a little advantage with the GTR over the Ferrari, Didn't they help develop the software in real life for the car also? i suppose in an ideal world there would be no real time driving adjustments aloowed for both cars or any cars that have quick tune disabled but as we don't live in one so there is not much we can do.

I'm sure PD are not the first and won't be the last. Perhaps they might do something if someone complains direct?

This isn't the first time Crowsy. I remember when we had a spot race at granturismo.com to bid a fare-the-well to GT2 and someone found that using some max settings on the suspension allowed you to run round Midfield with virtually no braking. The race erupted into controversy and pretty much spoilt what had built up to a very exciting event. Some old legends had entered the race and took us to lap times that were stellar and every man and his dog were in hot pursuit when the controversy erupted. The event wasn't the same after that.
I like to think PD take notice of us but I don't see too much evidence of it.
With regard to this particular technique, I am grateful to kart racer for sharing it and have told him so privately. I tried this technique last night and the best result was that it got me away from the rammers before they could spoil my race most of the time. I had some wonderful contests with some very fast and clean racers and enjoyed myself immensely. Thanks again kart racer 👍

Your welcome .
:) I'm looking forward to the next W.E update to see if there is something to dig up. But, in a way, I don't want this one to end as I have had some of my best online experiences here. Met some great drivers, close racing, and even won a few. My friends list is growing and there is room for more.👍

I've just been trying this out around Fuji with the Subaru '07 and found exactly the same thing. I was wondering how some others were getting off the start so fast. Like Interceptor says it is only with the 45/55 distribution that you really seem to hit a power peak you don't otherwise get.

Definately there for at least some of the other AWD cars as well.

I launch pretty damn well with the GT LM at 750pp races, and it's a RWD car, so no power distribution involved. No TCS either.

On the WE, with or without that "trick", the GT-R's will always get to Turn 1 before any F430, possibly even a good thing, since it minimizes the mayhem there.

I find with the 430 i can beat some of the GTRs into T1 with correct use of the gears and throttle. Launching in 2nd helps the F430 alot you'll only get a tad of wheelspin even if you boot it from the line.

The issue of having perfect traction at the start is that you have to battle with understeer for the next three laps. Might be okay in these sprint events, but I wonder what's going to happen once the races get longer and tyre wear is introduced? I certainly wouldn't want to be running around in a GTR with that much torque at the front wheels for too long.

There is a price to pay for everything in this game...
